A word from Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar - Atlantic City
Passing through the doors of Cuba Libre Restaurant and Rum Bar in The Quarter at Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City transports guests to Old Havana, Cuba of the 1940s.

The restaurant's atmosphere offers the unique combination of Latin warmth, flavor and splendor - from the "movie set" re-creation of an Old Havana street scene to the steamy Cuban rhythms. One-of-a-kind millwork and architectural salvage including unique doors, gates, cabinetry, furniture and accessories help capture the essence of old Cuban architecture. Colorful exotic foliage and large potted palm trees add to Cuba Libre's open-air, tropical ambiance.

Food was very delicious and all the drinks were amazing, except for the red sangria, which tasted too much like cherries rather than anything else. The atmosphere was very nice and the whole cuban theme was done well. The only problem we had was that we were seated in the corner by the kitchen where we heard everything and were stuck by a screen. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, and helped us move a seating over which was a little better, but stil not the best spot. The cigar boxes holding the check, very nice idea.

The experience exceeded our expectations. The food, service and ambiance were all wonderful and there was also unexpected entertainment by a very talented singer. The only criticism I can think of was the price of the mixed drinks. The $10.00 to $13.00 cost for our individual drinks was excessive, but overall it was a very memorable night and we certainly plan to return.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. The food was very good and the drinks were even better. Cuba Libre is a rum bar and they had many types of speciality Mojitos. We sat at the bar for a bit before our reservation and had great service but at the table the service wasn't up to par. The waiter rushed us into our meal choices and wasn't very helpful in answering my questions about the selections. When it came time to pay he presented the check to my boyfriend instead of leaving it neutral. This may not matter to some but to me that statement is sexist and insulting. Despite the sexist server, it was a good experience.

I was told by the bartender that the drink "mojitos" does not need the mint leaves crushed. And that it is better this way. The bartender took the mixture and gave it a shake and here is the "mojitos." To be honest, it did not taste good at all. It was average. I thought the secret ingredient was the mint leaves. He told me that the crushed leaves got stuck in people's teeth. I have been all over Philadelphia and New York for dinner and special occassions. They have never served mojitos without the mint leaves crushed. I was disappointed. The service and the food was average as well. I have been many times to the original Cuba Libre in Philadelphia loved it. But this was a disappointment. Thank you.

We had eaten at the Cuba Libre in Philly once before, and were pleased to see there is one in AC as well. The only complaint we have is that the food came out way too fast! We had just gotten our cocktails (the best Mojitos on earth) and bread basket when our main courses arrived. We definitely would have preferred a 10-15 minute lull between bread and dinner. Other than that, the food was great and our waitress was wonderful as well. The ambiance is very nice, although the noise level is a bit high. We were in Atlantic City for a concert at the Tropicana, and we will consider Cuba Libre again if the opportunity arises - we'll probably just let the waitperson know we'd like some time before the meal arrives.

During my previous visits, I've been impressed with the service and the food. This time, however, I was disappointed with the hospitality. I brought my mother and my grandparents, all who love Cuban food. We were seated under a speaker, and we had a very difficult time hearing each other. When we asked to be moved, our server consulted with the hostess, but was unable to move us to one of the many empty tables. While the speakers were turned down slightly, it didn't feel like we were taken seriously. When the manager came over mid-meal to ask us how our meal was, she walked away without listening to my mother explain the issue. I was embarassed that my family was treated so dismissively. I will not bring visitors here again.

Showed up for 4:00 reservation and was told by hostess that the staff wasn't ready yet (in a meeting?) We were finally seated at about 4:15. When server finally took our order, proceded to chat on the side with another waiter instead of getting our drinks. We had to call over another server (we were the only ones in the restaurant so no one was busy)Waited about 15 minutes before receiving drinks. Food arrived completed oversalted, but our waiter never came around again to ask if everything was OK. We have frequented Cuba Libre often in Atlantic City but after this experience, we won't return.

This was a good/great restaurant food was very good especially since my wife is Latina. We had no problems with the service. The only complaint was our table was in a really dark corner on the second floor. We reall couldn't enjoy the ambiance of the place although it looked like fun. The Salsa club later that night was fantastic and we ejoyed the fact we did not have to pay the cover since we had our dinner receipt. I would reccomend this to any of my friends that like good food with a Latin Flare

What a disappointment! We were out with friends and decided on a $50 pitcher of Mojito's to drink.......FIFTY DOLLARS??!!!!!! Then we both shared the meat platter where for $64 you got 2 burnt pieces of steak (not even filet), 2 boring pieces of chicken, some nasty sausage and 2 shrimp....TWO!!!!!!!!! Our waiter ended up also being the entertainment (evening singer who strolls around to tables), so needless to say - we were left high and dry when it came to the end of our meal and we wanted the check. I will never frequent this place again - very disappointed. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for what you get - which is nothing.

Went on recommendation of others as the "best restaurant in town". Was good but not "a rare find" as you call it. We tried the 15 tastes of Cuba. The appetizers were phenomenal but the entrees were just good, not great. My favorite was the chicken empanadas and the guava rubbed ribs. The skirt steak was hard to chew, the salmon was fishy, the salad was excellent. So it was good and bad, but I'd go back to give them another shot. My biggest issue was how close the tables were together and that I couldn't hear my own wife talking to me 2 feet away from me. I was almost shoulder to shoulder with the guy next to me. I used to be a chef in Bermuda and now I work in foodservice manufacturing and distribution, so I am familiar with food.

Horrible, noisy, dark... just plain ol' bad. This is the first cuban restaurant I've been to that served vegetable fried rice as a side along with sea bass. I can get vegetable fried rice and fish from the neighborhood chinese takeout spot, without spending 20+ dollars. Reservations aren't needed here, just like they aren't needed at Applebee's or Red Lobster; and that's what this place reminded me off, but with a Cuban theme. It shouldn't be on open table. I will not be returning.
