A word from La Chaumiere
La Chaumiere is as close as it gets to dining in a French country inn. Now entering its 37th year, La Chaumiere features traditional dishes like escargots en coquille, boudin blanc, quenelles of pike, cassoulet and Grand Marnier souffle. Chef Patrick's specials reflect a modern approach to seasonal produce, seafood and game with favorites like baked oysters, Dover sole and rabbit. La Chaumiere has won the "100 Best Restaurants" award 29 times since 1978!

The lobster bisque was watery but the rest of the meal was wonderful. However, there was a large bone on the floor that we pointed out to the waiter and he quickly removed it.

La Chaumiere is one of our favorite restaurants. We ALWAYS go there when we are in Washinton DC. It is a lovely country French atmosphere with traditional country French cuisine. The food is always consistently excellent. The service is always wonderful, friendly and attentive without being hovering. They have a very nice selection of wines and especially a nice selection of wines by the glass. It has been a bastion of excellence in Georgetown for many decades. Prices are moderate for the quality of food, wines and service and, in our opinion, a real value, compared to other restaurants of its caliber.

I was very happily surprised by La Chaumiere. It is small, has a quiet adult atmosphere and excellent service. We were very happy to be told that soft shelled crabs were a special that night. The way the crabs were prepared was excellent. We enjoyed the whole La Chaumiere experience and would definitely return. The staff was friendly, helpful and the total service was excellent.

I have enjoyed La Chaumiere since it opened. One of the few places that serves Quenelles de brochet. I might add that they are delicious. Always professional and traditional.

La Chaumiere is a wonderful restaurant. I spent a year in France and am picky when it comes to French food, but La Chaumiere passes my inspection with flying colors. The rabbit (unfortunately only served at lunch) is phenomenal. The escargo melts in your mouth, and the quenelle de brochet (pike dumplings in a lobster sauce) are incredible. Make sure to finish with the delectable chocolate souffle. A meal at La Chaumiere is a delight, but can get somewhat expensive. However, even according to my boyfriend who is a cheap eats fan, the food is well worth it.

Service was wonderful. Unfortunately, a "celebrity" of sorts was there the evening we were, and he was being interviewed. Rather distracting, and took away from an otherwise lovely dining experience.

Our waitress was outstanding. The lamb two ways was the BEST I have ever had. We also ordered the muscles for 17 dollars or so. I have NEVER seen a larger plate, enough for three people. VERY FRESH!
