The food was really wonderful as always. I especially love those crispy spring rolls and the shaking beef....oh, and the green papaya salad. I could go on!

OTD is a gem. If you appreciate Thai fusion, this place should be on your visit list. Service is excellent, and while there is ample seating, sitting at the counter is a painless way to learn a lot of culinary tricks and techniques. Oh, every dish is delicious. Go hungry.

This was the week before Christmas and we were having a holiday dinner with friends. Food was amazing as ever, but I had asked for an earlier table and they said they could not accomodate us. We arrived, the place was near empty and NOT ONE DECORATION! No holiday atmosphere, it could have been springtime. Please, acknowledge the holiday spirit!!

After a minor false start, hot steamed BBq pork bun was cold which was corrected immediately, we had the crispy imperial rolls, shrimp, pork, mint, red leaf lettuce...great flavors and fun to eat. Service and hospitality were very good.

Food is good, though "dumbed down" (i.e. not as spicy as authentic Vietnamese food). Restaurant is very attractive. Noise is too much - when bar is full and people are screaming against background music (unnecessary), you cannot speak to people at a table of four.

Great lunch spot - and the service can't be beat. The waiter came to our table to let us know that the chef did not like the way our crepe appetizer turned out, so we were given a free seafood salad while the a new appetizer was prepared.

The food is very good. The service is indifferent. We waited 30 minutes between our salad and bowls of noodles. We had to ask the waitress where our lunch was. 1&1/2 hours for a noodle lunch is way too much. I sat at the counter once and it was not faster. The stools at the counter have no backs and are uncomfortable for such a long time. It's too bad because the food is wonderful and fresh. Someone made a decision to have few tables and one communal table and lots of counter. Most people want to sit at the tables so a reservation is a necessity.

I had a great breakfast there a week ago..but lunch Friday was disappointing...The server recommended two signature dishes....claypot chicken and spring rolls...They sounded good...unfortunately the chicken, which was billed as slow cooked and very tender..wasnt.. the pieces were tiny..which was fine..but some had the skin on others gristle...It was well seasoned...but not good overall...and the spring roles were tasteless and tough...I loved the ambiance and the service...but unless the food improves....Since I've always enjoyed the Slanted Door, probably I will try again after they've been open longer.

Lots of interesting and yummy choices for the vegetarian and meat lover alike. I especially love the wine-on-tap...at $4 a glass, what's not to love? The service was thoughtful, considerate and efficient. The ambiance is urban chic(love the beakers as carafes!!) yet comfortable & homey even. Not sure how they did that...must be the lighting, which is flattering. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and my evening at OTD and will gladly return again and again. I am fortunate to have such a restaurant in my own neighborhood.

The food was terrific, but then I wouldn't have expected otherwise from Charles Phan. However, the noice level made the experience quite unpleasant. One really couldn't carry on a conversation even across a table. There are lots of hard surfaces which makes the look trendy and upscale. However, some kind of baffle system or white noise needs to be used to counteract the din level. I would go back, but only for take-out, not for dining in.

Charles Phan can do no wrong in my eyes. The food was great as always. It just felt a little bit more expensive than I had expected. It's basically the exact same prices as Slanted Door for the same signature dishes. And it feels like the point of this restaurant should be more of a cafe-style version of the original. I don't know. Just my two cents...

Great staff and space - love the decor. The waiter made excellent suggestions for us. The food was flavorful - the pork meatballs would have been better had they been cooked all the way thru but were still tasty. The chicken claypot was also very good. We would have preferred the tapioca dessert served warm rather than cold. Would definitely come back.

When we arrived for our 7:30 reservation, the hostess asked us whether we wanted to sit at a table or at the counter. When we told her that we wanted a table, she told us that the table would not be ready for another 15 minutes. I think if Open Table has information for different types of seating at restaurants, it should be specified in your site. We were not seated until almost 8 o'clock and I think if we had that information about the seating, we probably would have chosen a different restaurant. I would also recommend that OTD put some cushions on their very uncomfortable and cold metal seating. Maybe they want their clients to eat and be OUT THE DOOR very quickly for a fast turn-over.

Very excited about the opening of this restaurant - however they have many things to still work out. Food was good - but service was so bad that it impacted everything: wait staff would disappear for LONG periods, requests that were given to other staff were never fulfilled, wine came after food was done, requests for additional food never came, etc.

Very nice atmosphere and decently priced. Consistent with the other OTD restaurants. However, as others have said, the service was very cold and uncaring. Our bill had unacceptable pricing errors. For example the peppers were listed at $7 on the menu, but $10 on the bill, overall $8 would have been overcharged if we hadn't noticed.
