I planned a surprise for my boyfriend's birthday. The staff made it super easy and made us feel more than accommodated for. The food was AMAZING. Quite possibly the best Italian food I've had in Chicago. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. If you're looking for a place to dine before a United Center event or anytime, go here!

The food at Viaggio never disappoints and New Year's Eve was no exception. We thoroughly enjoyed the very fresh Caprese salad, the crab-crusted Chilean sea bass, and the farfalle and shrimp special. Dessert was also divine - bread pudding and chocolate lava cake with vanilla gelato. We didn't give this experience a full 5 star rating because our server disappeared after a hasty dessert order and never offered us any coffee or additional drinks (which we would have happily ordered!). Though we didn't see him for a long period of time, he had been very knowledgeable and friendly and made sure to thank us on our way out, as did the manager and host and several other servers.

Good prices and good food. The service was a bit off though. We were constantly flagging down our server. Also, he dropped off our appetizer, baked garlic, which required some doing to remove the pods, but he did not instruct how to best do it. Therefore, one person at our table did his best removing the pods and it got quite messy, which made him very frustrated. It was a Bulls game night, but our reservation was after the rush, so I'm not certain why service was so unattentive.

We nicknamed our waiter "flash". He was running around like a maniac. Very seldom asked if we needed anything -we barely would get our words out and he was gone. To be fair, have eaten here on slower nights and it was much better. Stick with the Italian food - the sea bass - which was suppose to be " lightly breaded - had a 1/4 inch of pasty breading - steak was sliced on a bed of gloppy box potatoes. Had the salad and meatballs on a previous visit, and they were great. So if you stick to the red gravy Italian dishes, that's what they do best. Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

We went to this restaurant because it looked excellent on Check Please. The service started fine with the waiter going over the specials and even making some recommendations. However, after we received our food we were completely abandoned. We had to flag down our server (or other servers) multiple times to get a second glass of wine, olive oil for the bread, and water. Overall, the food was good simple Italian, but there are plenty of restaurants with equal food and much better service. Also, they should avoid sending out the dregs of a wine bottle loaded with sediment to patrons ordering wine by the glass.

We were in Chicago for one night and picked Viaggio's from Open Table. We were not disappointed. The special was Lobster Ravioli which was wonderful, as was the Rigatoni with Sunday Pork Gravy (sounds odd but the "gravy" is a tomato base and also came with a large spoonful of ricotta cheese). We also had a nice bottle of Italian wine. It was worth the cab ride for a great meal and ambiance.

This was my first visit to Viaggio and I loved it! It's now my go to Italian. It's not a very large restaurant, but I'm OK with that. The owner is welcoming and our server Matt was very attentive without being overbearing. They have a good wine list with great choices of Italian as well as American wines. They offer Gluten Free pasta, a plus for my crowd, and everyone loved their entree. We'll be back for sure!!!

Tables way too tight. We were a party of four wedged in to a table that was not fit for four people. If they try to seat you at table 41 and you are a party of four you should refuse it. Bread was very good but when we asked for more bread we got stale bread. Sea bass was excellent, lasagna was good. Overall I liked the food but was very disappointed in their seating and table layout. We felt like we were in a sardine can. Our waiter had trouble even getting to our table so we did not get much attention from him.

We were only eating out one night and after much searching, happened upon this gem of a restaurant. It's off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. The food was interesting. My companions had the special of the day salmon, which they really liked. I had the shrimp and pasta was delicious. The pasta was great though - seems homemade. Other reviews rave about the dipping sauce with the bread - roasted peppers in olive oil. Not being a pepper fan, I didn't eat those, but it added flavor to the oil. It IS noisy in here and tables are packed together. But that only adds to the energy and authenticity of the place. We liked our server, Matt, a whole lot. Go taste for yourself. Not a tourist trap!

Friday evening after a long week, looking for a nice meal with close friends. Chose this restaurant based on Open Table reviews and ratings. Our reservation was after the early Bulls wave of diners. Food was unremarkable and the entire service was rushed. For example the entrees arrived just as we were finishing our starters. Wait staff was hurried and impatient. A return visit is not imminent.

My party was 45 minutes late for our reservation due to traffic coming in from the far west suburbs. I called twice to update the restaurant. They were absolutely awesome for holding our table when we were that late and it was a packed place! For that alone, they receive 4 stars! Aside from that the food was very good and although it was very busy, our service was very good also. I would definitely recommend Viaggio's.

My entree was one of the specials and it did not disappoint. It was hot, tasty, and different. My husband ordered the pork chop special which was a large portion and also very tasty. The eggplant appetizer is great! I've never had eggplant prepared like this. Overall this restaurant was a great choice. I highly recommend it.

I love this restaurant and we go before Blackhawks games. I know the intention is to move everyone along quickly because they have so many people going to the game, but they go a little overboard. They hover around and push you very quickly to order, eat and get out! I am not one to dawdle over dinner anyway and I felt totally rushed.

First time eating here and loved it. 3 of us got specials which were all excellent. Lobster ravioli and Sea Bass were outstanding. Veal chop was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. Veal with spinach and mushrooms was as good as I have had in a long time. Near the stadium so it was cleared out by 7 PM. Later crowd made for a noisy ending but not enough to dampen the whole experience. Not an extensive wine list but very good. Will definitely go back.

Tables too close together, waiter tried to push us to order when we had brought in 3 bottles of wine and wished to talk - seemed obvious that a quick dinner was not what we wanted, salads weren't finished when the entrees came (within minutes of ordering) and salads were removed before being finished...need I go on. Probably won't return to this location, but might try their other location on Fullerton before finally making a decision on both.
