We love Lon's for the charm and the lovely, one of a kind locations in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. The patio is lovely. It is our favorite spot to take out of town visitors to show that this area has something other than new-hot spot dining venues. The service does not match the ambiance. The waiters for the most part are good, but the bus boys need to be better trained in the nuances of a fine dining restaurant. They start clearing the table, when another diner at the table is still eating(annoying) and seem unsure of their role. Each time we eat here, I think...............send them back for more training!

I truly appreciate the menu, please don't modify the selections and turn this spectacular dining establishment into just another restaurant. You've managed to maintain your clientelle.Don't go the way of Mary Elaine's or the Marquessa at the Princess.

Food was a bit rich. Maybe wine would have helped but I have an allergy against wine now. I had the duck, it melts in your mouth. My husband had the steak. Dessert was beautiful and tasty. I had the tiramisu it looked like a cup of coffee with the cookie spoon, chocolate cup and froth looking wiped cream. He had the sorbet with distinctive fruit flavors not just sugary.

If the restaurant has to step-up a notch, one aspect that needs improvement is the ability of the server of the food to describe the food with authority, enthusiasm and pride. We hardly had such in the last two times we ordered our tasting menus with wine match.

This was our first visit to Lon's. We decided to celebrate our anniversary with a special dining experience and we were very happy with our choice. The food and service were superb, the entire staff was friendly, the southwest ambience was picturesque and interesting and the parking attendant actually RAN to retrieve our car (unnecessary, but it shows the establishment's attitude of service). We will certainly return to Lon's for special occasions and just a nice evening out.

I have been to Lon's several times and have always had a great experience. The enclosed patio is lovely - fountains, fire, flowers, candlelight and the star-filled sky in an exclusive residential area far from the bright lights of downtown. Tables are arranged to allow private conversation, either for a romantic evening or a chance to talk with friends. I always bring my out-of-town guests here to see we can have big city food in a southwest setting. The food is creative without being trendy, including a tasting menu with optional wine pairings. Sunday brunch is wonderful - served, not a buffet. The atmosphere and service is truly the overused term casually elegant, not stuffy but not edgy.

sunday brunch: If we order the $24 brunch we expect there to be enough of everything on an equal basis for everyone. i.e.; there were 3 of us, why wasn't there 3 of each melon, berry, breakfast meat etc? That was stupid to serve only 2 slices of (cheap cost) melon when there were 3 of us. I thought your brunch was "stingy" for what it cost.

Lon's is a rare gem in the valley and always nice for a cozy dinner for couples or a group of friends. Our best friends were in from out of town and decided to try the Sunday brunch. Our OpenTable reservations were not honored for the outdoor patio & after some waiting we were shown a table inside. Waitstaff superb as always and the brunch, while delightful, pales in comparison to the dinner menu. The brunch items were made to order, fairly priced, and tasted great if a bit unimaginative. We'll continue to visit Lon's for dinner and most likely brunch elsewhere. OpenTable should see to it that their guest are treated the same as those who call and make reservations directly.

Lon's provides an excellent dining experience whether it's for a special occasion or a nice evening out. The only improvement we could suggest is that for an upscale, somewhat dressy attire restaurant, the wait staff would be more classy wearing black pants instead of jeans.

The restaurant was phenomenal. The atmosphere was out of this world. The food was remarkable. Even sitting out eating dinner on the great and the heaters kept us nice and toasty. The only negative was that the waiter tried to squeeze in a little extra money on our bill (someone else's unclaimed bar tab). However, we caught it and got it corrected. Other than that I would most honestly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice, romantic, and extrememly enjoyable dining experience.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 3/28/2008
I was told upon our arrival I should have contacted Lon's directly for the request to dine on the patio. They said they do not check the Open Door emails regularly so they did not have my reservation in time to schedule us on the outdoor patio. As it was, customers coming in after us were seated on the patio at the open tables because they had called directly. They opened up a small back patio with poor view, poor service and barely average food. I was embarrased that I had made this poor choice and rather than a highlight of our friends trip it was the low point. We should have dined inside the restaurant rather than having them place us out back with one waiter that was running like Speedy Gonzalas (beep, beep). Not impressed.

We have very much enjoyed dining at Lons' many times. On this visit, the food and ambience were wonderful but the service was not up to usual standards. The waitress' demeanor was quite cold and robot-like throughout the entire meal. She brought the check to our table BEFORE our desserts (the check included charges for 4 desserts). She came to pick up our payment for processing. We had to tell her that we wanted the desserts we'd ordered first. She seemed surprised and there was no apology for this slip up. She then brought our desserts that had obviously been sitting somewhere a while as temperatures were either warmer or cooler then what they were supposed to be( eg--sorbet was melting).

    OpenTable Diner Since 2013
    Dined on 3/23/2008
Since brunch was $65 per person and they could not even include coffee or juice with their brunch price, I thought this was pretentious. We were also charged for a 3 year old when they clearly stated anyone under 4 was free. The service was very slow but since this was a special holiday, this was somewhat understandable. Over all, it was not that impressive as far as atmosphere (we were seated inside and I thought we would be outside) and the service was just average. The best thing was the food, it was memorable.
