it is a great place for drinks and happy hour nibbles. our sushi/sashimi dinner was mediocre, not beautifully presented and very overpriced. the sashimi was tiny, 1" x 1" at most, the sushi was ok and the maki rolls meager. which leads me to believe that one does best not to order sushi from them. we did not order cooked food, so i cannot comment on that. the service was poor, our waiter didn't know what a lillet or dubbonet was and we asked him three times if he could ask the bar, he told us to look at the wine menu, finally i told him to go to the bar and ask or i would. he had poor timing and seemed disinterested. a friend who owns a hair salon nearby loves it, i thought it was too much of a soho trap for real new yorkers

Very good fried food, although I thought the crab cakes could have had more flavor (although they were well prepared). The clam chowder was an also very good - it had was full of potatoes and texture, although I would have enjoyed a bit more clam brininess. We loved the ice cream cookies and warm cookies for dessert - although the cold cookies were nothing special. Although I was worried about service based on prior review comments, it was nothing less than outstanding on this Sunday afternoon.

First time diners, the people who we checked in with were most accommodating to our special request for location of our table, we require as much light as posible. Tina our waitress was teriffic, very good, took god care of us. I would recommend the place for clients looking for a SoHo fish joint.

The food was execllent and the service (by the support staff) was very attentive. Only two complaints: our primary waiter was less than warm and friendly, and the food was served almost too quickly. The staff seemed eager to churn us out.(our waiter even asked the party next to us to leave, I guess they had stayed too long)

Love this restaurant - my new favourite! Exquisite food with such an amazing variety of fresh, quality seafood. The service was impeccable --- the Manager, waitstaff and hostess were the kindest, most cheerful restauranteurs I've had in my over 25+ years living in NYC and even traveling/living abroad. Simply said, I had the best meal and best time in a long time. I'm already planning multiple returns with family and for a group event.

They were nothing but professional and courteous, it was worth every penny I spent and I even rewarded the staff with a 40% tip. Just Divine and LOVELY!!!

I go to Lure often for lunch. They now know me by name and are always accommodating. This last time, my out of town guest was very late. The staff at Lure didn't put pressure on me to order food or leave. In fact, one hostess gave me a magazine to read.

Good food, very poor service. This is my 2nd time here and my patience is running thin. Same problems each time. This place is hot now but it won't last with this type of service. Service quality can destroy the eat out experience. Wait staff disappear after they take your order. After that you just get the food delivery people, few of whom speak English and none of whom have a clue about service. Basic stuff like; when you bring a dozen oysters to the table, you explain which oysters are which; after you bring food to the table the waiter needs to come by to make sure everythings ok (which it wasn't); if you're not going to put condiments on the tables, offer salt and papper after the food arrives (again not done). i could go on...

I love Lure and have been on many occasions. The food is fantastic (particularly the sushi) and the atmosphere and decor is great. My only comment is about the music - not only is it far too loud but I also don't think that 80s soft rock is the most appropriate for the atmosphere of the restaurant. A change in type and volume of music would make Lure my favourite restaurant in New York!

Went a Friday night, two people. Got a good table in a booth but noticed others were less lucky. The bar was busy and the music loud enough to make it difficult to hear the waiter; if we had been sitting across from each other rather than side by side conversation could have proved difficult. The menu leans towards fish (the interior a take on yacht-chic) and everything on the seafood platter we shared for a starter tasted fresh. Mains were also good (fish, I forget which) but they arrived very quickly after the starter and while I was at the toilet. Generally, the waiter seemed unconcentrated and unsure. Overall the experience was good, though, and on a previous occasion even better; we are likely to go again.

Happy hour on Monday night was fabulous ~ the drinks, the service, the food. We were seated for an early dinner. I requested one of the lovely roomy booths. I was told they save those for larger parties although every other booth in the dining room was occupied by a party of two! The hostess said that those people were seated early and they were leaving soon. Well, you guessed it, a party of two came in right after us and she showed them right to the empty booth! I did speak up (nicely) she told me those people were "major VIP's!" Didn't that make me feel great? Despite the snub, the food was wonderful, our waitress was great. The chef came out to talk to us after we complimented the dinner. We'll definitely go back!

It was WAY too loud. Couldn't stand to stay for dessert even. This was my 3rd time at Lure Fishbar-- the first time was for lunch and the second time was for dinner (but we sat behind the divider for the sushi bar section where it is slightly quieter). I don't think I'll be back as the food was good but not enough to tolerate the HIGH decibels!

The food was excellent, and I feel sorry for wonderful chef because I would never go back or recommend Lure to a friend. First, it was incredibly loud. The combination of the pounding music and people trying to shout over it was quite a dining experience (even for NYC). Even with our tiny table, my date and I couldn't hear each other and eventually just gave up and rushed through our meal. On the other hand, I could hear half of each the shouted conversations of the people at my right and left elbows trying to talk to their dates. It was too dark to read our menus, and the server was no help. When we struggled, she just shrugged and said she would come back. Thought the decor was cheesy -- kind of a Love Boat/Gilligan's Island vibe.

They were very behind with the reservations so we had to wait at the bar for almost forty minutes before they offered us a table. By then we had decided just to eat at the bar.
