Consistent, creative, high quality dining, and seamlessly orchestrated service has been the hallmark of Savona's success for over 12 years…..it's time to evolve!!!!! Savona is proud to announce, BARSAVONA. A marble bar, sexy outdoor patio and upstairs wine lounge will set the stage for a new spirit of relaxation and conviviality. The casual menu will feature hand cut pasta, perfectly blistered Pizza Napoletana, natural creamy risotto and "farrotto", and wood grilled meats, fish and poultry. All selections will all be prepared with the same simplicity, consistency and attention to detail Savona has provided for over a decade. For such a terrific restaurant, and we go there all the time,,,,the air conditioning is horrific! Saturday night after a 90 degree day is was sweltering upstairs. It was an extremely uncomfortable evening, and if they lowered the thermostat they said the system would freeze. In this day and age that should not be the case.

We enjoyed every bite!! We have enjoyed many dishes at Savona but this was our first time eating at BarSavona. It was slightly more casual, but still very elegant & cozy like downstairs! The service was incredible. Very alert and attentive but not overbearing. They serve the BEST brick oven pizza we have ever eaten! A really nice place for dinner.

Wow ! What a meal. We dined in the "bar menu" area of the restaurant. The service and fodd were absolutely perfect. The bar menu is much more affordable for multiple visits and concentrates on more Italian specialties. I have been to Italy many times over the years and can truthfully say this is the closest thing to authentic Italian. Every course was perfectly prepared and presented. Portion sizes were very impressive. We had enjoyed Savona several times before , dining from the regular menu. Though the food was superb, the cost and the strong French influence did not encourage visits on a more regulsr basis. With the inception of the bar menu, we will become regulars at Savona.

  • Having been slightly disappointed

Having been slightly disappointed with this newcomer in the summer, I was happy to see that the food had improved (two of the dishes were inedibly salty this summer.) It's a small room, however, and a table of 12 who were celebrating something were so loud, we could not hear ourselves, or our waitress at times over the course of the two hours. I probably would think first before I went back, for that reason. Apparently they have take-out and I would consider this as the food is good, and reasonably well-priced. I don't know how they could improve the acoustics.

They finally have a "wines by the glass" list. While there is still wines for $16 and $18 a glass, which I find a lot for "causual dining", there are some selections more in line with the menu. Chicken is very good as is the veal picatta, but the pizzas could use a little work.

Very enjoyable evening and we will go back. However, the wine list is very up market and not enough reasonably priced bottles. I'm not saying the wines are overpriced, just that there are a ton of $100+ bottles and not enough at the more reasonable end. Also, we had a table by a window, it was freezing outside and, while the restaurant was warm, there was cold air coming in through the window. We actually propped up some menues to try and block the cold air coming in.

Reasonably-priced menu, surprisingly large portions, incredible service, and a wide list of fine wines by the glass only, plus craft beers and drinks. Hits the mark on all measures. It's a fine Friday-night choice when you want great food prepared by a great kitchen, but you don't want to wear a tie and whisper the whole evening.

The tables in the upstairs area are too close together. I probably would choose to eat downstairs at the bar next time. I ordered a salad and eggplant parm. The salad was delicious but the eggplant was too salty. I took the whole thing home and ate it cold the next day.......didn't taste the salt as much.

The original Savona is still elegant and still the best Dover sole in the region but I actually prefer their newer addition BARSAVONA. The menu is outstanding -- rustic Italian done to perfection and the vibe a little more relaxed. The really wonderful thing is that if you make a reservation in Savona but you and your dining partner have different tastes, they let one order off the formal menu and the other order from the bar menu.

The food was great but the service was spectacular. I was mainly attended by a young Asian man in his early 20s. I describe him because he was the most exceptional waiter I have had in all of my restaurant experiences. He was energetic, attentive, and passionate about providing good service. The other restaurant employees shared a similar attitude that focused on providing a very pampered and attentive service to the patrons that were dining (including myself). All in all, I had a very pleasant anniversary with my fiance. I look forward to returning and recommending Savona.

Bar Savona is as good as it gets anywhere. Great food and wonderful service. The clams are the best we have ever had. Fantastic brick oven pizza, veal, and fish as well. We have gone with friends every couple of weeks since it opened, and each time, our friends LOVE it. I can honestly say that after trying everything on the menu multiple times, I have never had a bad meal. The food is fantastic and the service is exceptional. It is a real gem.

One complaint. They have a menu for casual dining , however, the wines by the glass are way too expensive. Had a glass of Pinot $16.00, had a glass of Syrah $16.00. They offer white wines at $8.00 glass why not reds??? Plus they don't offer a wine by the glass menu so you know what you can order and at what price. If you go to Savona and eat at the fine dining section I understand $16 wines by the glass, but not for casual dining.

The food was wonderful and the service could not have been more attentive. Our only down side was we were there to celebrate a wedding anniversary and got placed next to a group of 6 20-something women celebrating a birthday. They must have thought they were in an airplace hangar because they were so incredibly loud and irksome. We ended up having coffee and dessert back at the bar and that was an excellent experience. If you go, ask to eat in the downstairs room, not upstairs.

Would like to see them have a tapas menu so that the casual diner can go there more often. Veal was excellent, pork chop a little tough, all 4 of us enjoyed the evening.
