  • I had dinner at Hot House
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 6/28/2010
I had dinner at Hot House Cafe on a Monday night during the Jazz Festival in 2010. I ordered a vegetarian stir fry and it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time- would definitely go back just for this dish! The service was good, although the waiter left us the bill early, before we actually intended to leave. We didn't know if that was a sign he wanted us to go, since we stayed for 4 hours, but we were really enjoying listening to the jazz and soaking up the atmosphere.

The Hot House has the best mussels in the city (Stella Mussels) and great salads. Tasty app's and huge portions on the pasta dishes.

  • I've been here several times
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009

I've been here several times in the past for their Wednesday Night buffet and decided to take a friend who has never been for a quick dinner. This friend of mine knows his food and he didn't seem too crazy about the selection offered. At almost $18 a person -- I think he expected a little more. We got there fairly late, at 8:30pm and the food wasn't getting replaced or consumed as often so we were left with the stuff that has been sitting for a while. The cesaer salad wasn't replenished and my biggest let-down was that there weren't any ribs. I know that they don't always have it but it's one of the dishes I really enjoy at the buffet. Overall, it was alright. The pasta booth was busy and there was still quite a bit of food to go around.

Went here on a Wednesday night. The place wasn't packed so the noise level was good. We had the special (pork chop) and it was really nice. The service was great too. All in all a good place for causal dining.

The food was good, as it always seems to be, Pizza is great. This is the second trip in a row that the service was terrible - Nice enough but very slow and hard to catch anyone to fill water, get a bill etc. It was NYE and they were busy but there were lots of staff on.

There were 3 of us for a pre-Christmas dinner get together. All of us enjoyed our dinner and our waiter was excellent. We have been to Hot House before and we were not disapointed. We would definitely return to try more dishes. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were a little on the expensive side.

  • the restaurant had no record
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 10/26/2009
the restaurant had no record of reservation made on line and confirmed by your emails. There was no problem as the place was nearly empty. My pasta putanesca was too spicy to appreciate delicate shell fish which anyway was not abundant. The quality/price ratio was below that of other venues in the area. My partner's choice seemed to be better.

  • Disappointed this time. Food

Disappointed this time. Food was dry and tasteless. Service was overwhelming - too many people came by to inquire about the food - how about letting us eat some of it between times. End of Summerlicious - probably the restaurant was just sick and tired of it. Had great brunch here previously. But you can get much better Summerlicious value with the restaurants with $20 lunch menus than the ones with $15. You get what you pay for - only in this case, less so.

The food was great, well worth the $25 summerlicious price. Service, just ok... Our orders were mixed up, i.e. my rare steak ended up with my cousin who wanted medium-well. But our server was very nice. The tiramisu was delicious! Don't bother with the bread pudding though, it's a bit bland and watery.

I did not enjoy this restaurant. The food was mediocre at best. We got the entree within minutes of receiving our salad. Not at all whaqt I expected based on the reviews.
