This restaurant is good if you're really going out to drink - but don't come here for the food. When I pay $30 for an entree, I expect good service. Both times I've had dinner here, the service is so slow that we sit there and drink so much and eat breadsticks that we're not even hungry when the food arrives. This last time we went there the lightbulb was out above our table and we couldn't even read the menu. The waiter said he knew about it but didn't offer to change it or do anything about it. A waste of $300 for a party of 4.

I took a client to lunch here and the service was excellent- glasses of water and Arnold Palmer's where constantly kept full. I have been to 1515 before for lunch, dinner and other functions- menu is pretty extensive with several entrees to chose from on a Cal cuisine level with portions on the larger side. Good bar and lounge/patio area.

Outstanding food and really great bartenders! The service here is always very attentive and helpful. Very friendly and professional. We go there at least once or twice a month and have never had a bad experience. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a comfortable, upscale, reasonably priced place for lunch on the weekends.

We had a nice, early dinner. Based on other reviews, we decided early was better as other noted the noise level detracting from a nice meal. The food -- especially the appetizers -- was very yummy and innovative. Clams and crabcakes both awesome. Husbands dinner was a "small plate" with a great portion of sausage and polenta. I had the mushroon-crusted Halibut -- good but not memorable. We will come back as the service was also very nice.

Ate outside in small courtyard next to street. Crowd, almost all singles, was very loud. They are not keeping their equipment up. Their chair seats are coming apart and the whole place needs a facelift. We had to switch our chairs as the strapping was falling apart. Great food but ambiance hurts.

Reviews seemed a bit mixed and we were going on a Friday so I wondered if the noise would be an issue. We were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is not a quiet, reflective place, but the dining area is adequately separated from the bar to allow conversation. That said, I would never bring my hard-of-hearing father to 1515. Food was great, portions were perfect and a good value. Drinks were good. Service was excellent - all in all an enjoyable evening and we will definitely return.

Dined at 6:30 on a warm Friday night. Sat inside. Hostess tried to put us in back near kitchen entrance and pathway to bar and restrooms. We asked for a different table, more near the front of the restaurant and were accommodated. Restaurant became louder as the evening progressed and the dining room filled. Food was quite good. Wine and cocktail selection was good. Love the Pisco Sours. Not sure we would return for dinner as there are many other dinner options in the Creek with just as good food, if not better, for the price.

  • The only plus to this restaurant
    OpenTable Diner Since 2004
    Dined on 8/7/2009
The only plus to this restaurant is the outdoor seating. Otherwise the food was pretty awful. I had the chicken picatta. It was barely passable. The pasta that was served with it was truly worse than Chef Boyardee and the vegtables were OK. The seasoning was not memorable and consisted basically of garlic and lemon. My spouse had a salad that was also pretty awful. It had no flavor and was basically lettuce and shrimp. Dressing --- no flavor. Lettuce was not even that fresh. This is a "meat market" restaurant that really has no right to call itself a restaurant. It's basically a bar with outdoor seating and I would strongly recommend several other Walnut Creek restaurants before 1515.

Knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive staff. Eclectic but cohesive menu, well executed dishes. Only complaint was that the acoustics inside the dining area of the restaurant are a bit unusual, which with the added noise from the bar (and the bachelorette party seated next to us) made it difficult to hear and hold a conversation.

    Dined on 7/10/2009
The New York Pepper Steak was tender and delicious (U.S.D.A. Prime is hard to find in any restaurant--1515 is to be commended for carrying such high quality.) And, the chef cooked my steak exactly how I asked for it. Also, my Greek salad was top-notch. We both liked our wines. . .Chardonnay for her; and, Zinfandel for me. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and provided the highest level of service we have received at any restaurant(likewise for the co-server that our waiter was training.) A wonderful dining experience for enjoying our anniversary. PAR EXCELLENCE !!

I really enjoyed my dinner at 1515. The small plates were well portioned and well priced and what I saw of the large plates, you will not be disappointed. In many of these California Cusine spots you get kibbles for the high prices, but I did not find that here. The overall rating is a 4 star for me. This was not easy cause this could have easily been a 5 star experience for me, it was July 4th, not very busy and beautiful weather on the front patio. However, a few customers came to the resturant with their dogs. Although I am a dog lover, I don't feel I should be sharing my dining space with them at this type of establishment, we were not in the park or a hot dog stand. I am not sure if it was a just a one time thing. But they lost a star.

Upscale casual dining in dowtown Walnut Creek. I've eaten there three times now which at least means I like it well enough to go back. With that said, they do miss occasionally but usually not by all that much. The service has always been pretty good, but on our last visit it took 10 minutes to waive down our server to get our check. Why is it that so many servers will do so well until you are done eating and then just forget you? Not a great ending impression just before I calculate the tip!! Food is always solid and realtively creative. Last visit was a hot summer afternoon and the Pesca Fresca salad was great (mussels, calamari, clams in a nicely balanced vinigarette). My companion had a very enjoyable salmon nicoise salad.

Glad you asked. I am writing to the manager today. After spending over $100 on dinner and drinks with my friend (7 pm reservation) - I stepped outside to take an important phone call and was then told I could not go back in to my table! I was told by a security person at the door that I had to line up behind a long line of kids (obviously a bar crowd) to get back in to my table, my handbag, my friend, and the remainder of my dinner. I was so upset, that I motioned to my friend to pick up my purse so we could leave. I will never go back to this establishment and will let every single person I know of my experience here. I am asking for my money back as they completely ruined my evening and that of my friend.

although the food is good at 1515 the poor service quality and the loud noise level was shocking. so we are taken to our table; dinner shows up; we notice there are no forks, knives or napkin on the table, it took the waiter 5 min to get them for us while we are staring at our food getting cold! then I look for salt and pepper; again none on the table; another 3 min to get salt and pepper; then I order a beer; the waiter brings my beer with no glass; again another few min to get the glass! you get the picture as how our dinner turned out to be. will not visit ever again :(

This is a Walnut Creek "hot spot" for the young and restles. The scallop appetizers were to die for just as the wiater advertised. The entre of salmon was prepared to perfection. The table location next to the register was poor and noise level in the restaurant is excessive for anyone who wished to engage their date or dining companion in conversation. The outdoor dining and fireplace are great but "always crowded" and impossible to get a table. Price is consistent with other higher end eateries in Walnut Creek.

Our service and food was just outstanding. Not many people were in the restaurant that evening but I imagine with a full crowd it could become quite noisy and hard to have a conversation without talking loud. They have a excellant wine selection by the glass and the prices were moderate. If you happen to hang out in the bar before dinner they have some nice cozy areas to sit and chat but it's very vibrant.
