The food was good, not outstanding, with fairly large portions to satisfy the summer Hershy Park tourist crowd. My only complaint was feeling like we were rushed through dinner. Appetizers, entree and dessert with a bottle of wine and we were out of there in an hour.

What a great date night. Service was outstanding and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in a big city feel restaurant in a small resort town. We are lucky to have Devon as a new addition in our community.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

We had a celebratory dinner at Devon, with one person in the group who is hard of hearing. Our request for the side room was honored, so that the noise level would be at the lowest level possible. We had terrific service and were not rushed, even though the restaurant was busy and filling up. The raw oysters (blue points and another kind from British Columbia recommended by our waiter) were perfect, and the mussels scampi style were out of this world. All of the entrees were hot, perfectly cooked, and delivered at the right time. Bravo! My guests had not yet been to Devon but are already planning their next trip there.

She checked several times to ensure we were confortable with the selections and offered to prepare something else, if we were not pleased. Very nice facility.

When we indicated to our server that we probably weren't having dessert, he seemed to forget we were still his table. I didn't receive the double expresso that I had ordered. We had also wanted to see the dessert menu, but we never received it. We may have changed our minds and ordered something. We had to ask another server to get his attention to get our bill.

The service by Mary was soooo helpful. She answered our questions, made suggestions and kept a running conversation going with us. She was terrific. Even the server who brought us an appetizer was helpful with our questions and giving us info we didn't know we would need. She was great! The food was better than expected. We'll definitely be talking up Devon Seafood. Great jazz music playing, the manager's stopped by our table & chatted, it was a wonderful atmosphere. We checked out the bar, the restrooms and asked a few questions about bringing a group. This is how every new restaurant should be run. And we hope it continues to run like it did for us on Sunday, June 21st.

The service was sporadic...the four people in our party all ordered Pellegrino and when it finally arrived, we received 4 large bottles, rather than individual "pony-size" bottles. The server should have told us that two bottles would be sufficient for the 4 of us. But she didn't, and couldn't take any bottles back since she'd opened all four. Service was slow as well. The party next to us was very noisy.

I ordered the walu which was served in a bowl with asian style noodle soup. The fish was excellent, fresh. However, the shanghai cabbage was undercooked. I have eaten Shanghai cabbage all my life growing up in Asia. It needs to be more done to suit my taste and those of Asians. Also, serving biscuits in place of bread is not to my taste. Please give us the option of bread as well. We ordered a clams appetizer in a white wine sauce. Alas, no bread for dipping. What a waste of the great sauce. Also, the biscuits are too heavy compared to bread. Overall, a good and interesting dining experience.

California bass delivered that day, was terrific. Yukon potatoes were cold, verts were tough, asparagus was tough. Vietnamese spring rolls were good with an original recipe. Lobster tail was very good. Beer selection was ordinary and disappointing. Service was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable of the selections and their preparation. Creme brulee was very sweet and heavy, and not so enjoyable. The prices are too high for the quality of the meal ($65 per person) and we will not return soon.

Parking was convenient. The setting is very attractive. Our table was ready on time. Service was attentive, with a team of bus boys who keep your water glass full and offer replenishment of the signature sweet biscuits. (The pace could slow down just a bit for a more relaxed experience.) Food was excellent, with well-prepared and very fresh fish selections and interesting sides. Noise level was way too high, with no place to go that would have been less noisy. (We generally do not object to some bustle, but conversation proved difficult.) Wine list is broad, but overpriced. (Our selection was listed at 3X the retail State Store price; 2X is typical, and even at that the restaurant's markup is probably 110%.) Cost including tip: $70 ea.

We highly recommend Devon on a trip to Hershey or for locals. It is upscale and chic, but not pretentious. There is very little ambient lighting, but there is directed lighting to each table and for walkways. The menu is excellent and fresh, and the service is top shelf. Perhaps most importantly, Devon caters well to children. We had a 5 year old in tow, and our server was kind enough to comment on his good behavior. I also saw another server giving a handheld tour to a little girl who looked to be no more than 2. There is an excellent kids menu, and there is no feeling at all that children are unwelcome. That said, the menu and solid wine list and bar make it a haven for adults. Energetic noise makes it appropriate for kids and adults.

Red sangria was perfect cooler for a hot day, not too sweet. My husband had the pan seared mong chong which was easily the best fish I've had between here and the Indian Ocean. I had the pan seared waloo which was great however lacked the character and smokey butteriness of the mong chong. Both cooked to perfection. Entrees were accompanied with two sides, we both chose lobster mac and cheese which was unique and tasty but not the best fit with the flaky white fish. I also chose the lemon risotto with asparagus. The risotto was smooth and creamy however it lacked any lemon at all and the asparagus should have been added just minutes before serving, it was a flavorless pale green. However, we will return and enjoyed it very much!!

Our waiter seemed less that thrilled to be at work on a Saturday night, by actually telling us so. TMI. The woman bussing our table was asked for a drink and her response was "If I was your waitress I could" in stead of "I will tell your server". She took most of our silverware without replacing it so that when our food came we were hunting people down for knives etc. Every meal was excellent and portioned appropriately. Good for Devon b/c everyone ordered dessert- also excellent.
