we chose teh restaurant based on reviews and proximity to the Fox Theatre. Food is excellent. but its not a great value. i commented to the waitress that the beet salad seemed small (essentially six paperthin discs of beet, three small cheese fritters, a sprinkling of baby greens) and she said everyone complained about that. the side dish of vegetable hash was also quite small. we'd certainly go back anytime we go to the fox. getting free valet parking is a great amenity. but there are plenty of better values out there so i don't know that i'd rush back for dinner absent theatre plans.

Our dinner was excellent. We chose the "pre-theater" option and were not disappointed. Only flaw was wine service. Our glasses were empty and the wine bucket had been placed too far for us to help ourselves.

The decor was very nice and the food was good. I especially liked that they had a special Theater Menu, for people wanting to go to the Fox right across the street. I only have one complaint; we sat in one of the banquettes near the Kitchen. The banquette is TOO LOW for the tables! I felt very uncomfortable trying to eat my food - I felt like a little kid who needs a booster seat! Either make the cushion more firm or get another banquette. That one just doesn't work. After we had ordered, I noticed the hostess tried to seat a couple at the banquette beside us and they ended up asking to be moved. I guess she wasn't comfortable either.

The service was of equal excellence to the food, a rare combination these days. I rarely dine in a restaurant for both brunch and dinner, I was pleasantly surprised at the consistency. I will gladly revisit this neighborhood gem.

The food was outstanding -- every dish was beyond expectations with exciting presentation and taste of the highest caliber. The four of us had rabbit(2), veal porterhouse, and halibut. The wine we had ordered was unavailable, but the suggestion by the wine steward was a first rate choice. The chef dropped by the table on two occasions and we had a nice visit with him. All in all, a perfect night. We will make Livingston a regular stop. The only weak point was our waiter, who needed some schooling. But the rest of the staff more than made up for his shortcomings and he will learn. The location across from the Fox Theater is a really good one, and there is no better food available in Atlanta.

Excellent menu choices and food preparation. We also had a table on the balcony directly across from the Fox - great view! The ambiance was too noisy (we could barely hear aourselves above the throbbing music, which was appropriate for the bar but not for dining - it was the very first thing we noticed). The service, however, was awful, starting with our request for black napkins (which they had, but which our waiter refused to get for us and then lied to us about not having any). Food delivery was slow, and plates given to the wrong people. We arrived two hours before having to leave for the theater, and still did not have time for dessert. We will try one more time, but if the service is not greatly improved, forget it.

The room is striking, with an incredible two-story space that blends the architecture of a classic hotel with very modern touches. The food is classic Gary Mennie -- classic cuisine with Contintental touches, but very American. If weather permits, sit outside on the amazing portico'ed patio and watch the crowds walk by the Fox Theater... nothing could be more Atlanta than that! Highly recommended.

Being across from the Fox was an extra plus...our waiter was good...got a little hectic at the end, my guess from people showing up later and trying to make the show but we had reservations and made it for plenty of time. Picking up the car at the end was easy for us but I could see the potential problem for others....everyone at one time but the convience of the place was fantastic. I would go back again even if not going to a show. Sitting outside would be the next thing I would want to experience at Livingston. The place was very nice and the people very friendly. The food was good too..I know you want to know that and the wine was nice and the Irish whiskey yummy.

Food & pricing are very good. Service tries waaaaaay too hard. Too many people other than the waiter (managers? supervisors?) were approaching our table too frequently. It got to be bothersome. On the other hand - nobody bothered to ask whether we need our parking ticket validated, so upon retrieving our car from the valet, we were sent back to get it validated at the restaurant...

This restaurant is across from the FOX theater so it is very good for before or after a show. We went for lunch and ate on the terrace. Very enjoyable. There were five of us and we all enjoyed our food. The lamb burger with goat cheese was tasty and cooked perfectly. The crab fritter was not the best we ever had, but well prepared and seasoned with high quality peekytoe crab. The other choices of our party included steak salad, hamburger and shrimp salad were all hits as well. The desserts were an enjoyable end to the meal and all very good. The service was friendly and eager to please, though a little inexperienced. We will go back for sure.

Appetizers and wine list were good. Didn't enjoy my entree though. I had the potato gnocchi with cauliflower, peas, carrots, and goat cheese. I pictured a heap of vegetables, dotted with soft gnocchi and accented with bright white clumps of melting goat cheese. What I got was lukewarm gnocchi, peas, and carrots, practically floating in a broth of butter and cream. And the goat cheese? Not to be seen or tasted. I'm guessing it might have been incorporated in the buttery-cream stuff. The buttery-cream sauce also seemed to have been used to drench my mom's cauliflower gratin. Maybe it's just part of the southern theme?

They have taken a beautiful historic building, and ruined the inside with a flashy, splashy contemporary decor approach. My wife and I sat in wonderment as to how anyone could have allowed such a change to be made. Our conclusion is that the hotel is owned by foreign people that do not know or appreciate Atlanta in the early 1900's. Shameful and an embarrassment to our community. The food, well, just simply no better. Just absolutely terrible and disgraceful. While the restaurant in its new form has been open for just one week, the opinon that appears here, suggests things that have nothing to do with newly open restaurant "bugs" that will be worked out. Many other "bugs" not documented here out consideration to the management t

Excellent food, original menu, amazing location. But VERY amateur service. First, the waiter poured the water all over the table and didn't dry it well. We ordered a drink and had to send it back because it was undrinkable. Next, we ordered wine. The waiter said they were out of it. We ordered another kind and he got it but didn't know how to open the bottle so we had to do it ourselves and teach the poor guy how to operate a simple corkscrew. He was completely confused about how to serve the plates (from the left? or from the right?) He was memorizing his lines out loud ("ladies first"). He took our water before we finished dinner. This is a fancy restaurant in a fancy hotel but they really need to train their staff or it won't last long.
