The staff was very unfriendly. We had a package deal that we bought through the hotel (Georgian Terrace) and felt like no one knew how it worked. It said it included a 3 course meal when apparently was only up to a $ amount. After only ordering water and two entrees, the server simply told us we were good to go. No explanation of the charges, no receipt, had no idea if tip was included, didn't know if there was still a credit left. I was floored by how unprofessional and unfriendly the staff seemed to be. I would not recommend ordering any packages. Overall the decor and food was good but service was terrible. Having been in the service industry myself, I hold customer service at a very high standard. I would not eat there again.

Great place for a delicious meal and a lovely dinner pre theater. My son and I had a lovely meal before the show. We were seated right away, great service and very nice wine list. My son loved his steak and said it was tender and delicious. I had the chicken which was juicy and perfect. We've eaten here several times and enjoyed everything we've had. Great atmosphere!

Food was so-so and felt over-priced for the quality. We stayed at the Georgian Terrace and saw a show at the Fox that night so the location was perfect. We had a great night, but we will not go back. Lots of great food in Midtown within walking distance of the Fox.

Food was very good but portions were very small. i.e. 3 scallops and a few clams for $26.00. Three of our party had wine and it appeared that amount in each glass was less than at other fine restaurants. My drink was fine .The food presentation was excellent and all our meals were delicious

We experienced very poor service the entire time we were at Livingston. We had to flag down a waitress to get our drink orders and then track down another waiter just to get water 20 minutes after we had been there. Each time we needed something and had to get someone's attention (no one ever spontaneously came by the table) they acted annoyed that we had bothered them. We will not be returning, which is a shame, because the food was pricey, but good.

Made a reservation this past weekend for brunch before seeing The Lion King. Was disappointed to find out it was a buffet, seemed a little bit too casual for the upscale environment. The food was alright and the breakfast basics were offered, most of which could compete with most diners. In fairness, can anything served buffet-style really be that impressive? The service was also what I would've expected from a diner, not upscale restaurant. Everyone was nice and friendly, but but it seemed like our waiter hadn't been fully trained on the details of creating a fine dining experience, such as folding napkins, not taking / replacing silverware after courses, removing white napkin after hostess gave us the black, etc. Glad we tried it, though!

Made reservations online on the Livingston website but the restaurant did not have them. I showed the confirmation email to the hostess. I was asked if I wanted to sit inside or outside, I said "Inside". Another lady came up and was told my reservations did not show up. I was then taken to a table outside. Dressed nicely and expecting a pleasant dinner with my wife was quickly taken away. With no time to make other arrangements, we were stuck. Food was just ok.

Great place for before and after a Fox performance. Service is quick & wait staff is well trained. The menu could have had a few more options and the portion sizes could have been larger. However, Livingston does bill itself as a place to get a small bite! With that said, the prices are a little high. Would we go there again? Yes, definitely.

The food lacked flavor all around. The mussels sat in a pool of cream. The salad dressing was very bland and the only flavor from my filet dish was a bed of carmalized onions. For the prices they are charging, the food quality needs to step up.

If you are going to the Fox theater later, conveniently across the street, go to dinner a bit earlier. We had read the reviews and decided that those diners who were unhappy with the service or food, were not early diners. Things do pick up quite a bit as time for the theater nears, so go early for good service and excellent food. I enjoyed the scallops, then the sorbet flight for dessert, both very good.

Nice buffet for Easter. Food was well prepared. Ham, collard greens, breakfast casserole all great and well prepared. Staff was extremely nice. We were seated in the ballroom for buffet. Food was fresh and did not have to stand in lines to get to food. Variety of options were great. Dessert choices all very good. We will definitely visit the Livingston again. We decided to try out the Easter brunch and celebrate a friend's birthday at the same time. Based on reviews, I knew we were going more for the ambiance than the food and that's exactly what we got. We were seated upstairs as only one of four tables. (We were the only ones up there are first.) I don't particularly enjoy having to walk up and down stairs to get my food but we adapted. Our server was scarce. He walked by our table and never even noticed that all of our glasses were empty. While we were still eating. For a brunch there was only one egg dish and it was a casserole. Not a casserole we liked. We were expecting an omelet station, at the very least. I would recommend for the atmosphere, only.

  • Easter Brunch

    Dined on 4/20/2014
We had a delicious Easter brunch at Livingston's with our two teens. The food was delicious...a carving station with ham and prime rib (?); bacon and sausage; a baked egg dish; pork loin in a light BBQ sauce; a delicious salad table with beautiful fruit and shrimp; a kids' table with mac and cheese, tater tots, and chicken nuggets (the mac and cheese was delish); and a dessert table. The desserts were perhaps the most disappointing: cookies, small pastries and tarts, and a very runny and not too tasty blueberry "cobbler". I would have liked to have seen a bit more pizazz, color, and variety on that table. The service was very good.

Upon arrival we were taken to a table for 2 in the restaurant where hotel guests were obviously ordering off the menu. We Spent over $80 for Easter Brunch & expected to be seated in the Ballroom with a tablecloth & flowers. We refused the Table & were accommodated in the ballroom but the Disappointment lingered. Buffet was average but desserts were stock tarts & Cookies & runny cobbler. A pianist would have been nice instead of piped background music. Many waiters had on Jeans & T-shirts w odd aprons! Not what we expected from a restaurant advertised as Iconic & 4 Star at all !

-upon being seated we were told our waiter would arrive in a short while and take our drink order. When someone arrived we asked for orage juice and the man said he wasnt the waiter but he would get it anyway. before the orange juice came the "real waiter" arrived. then we were charged $3.00 per glass of OJ. I cannot imagine charging extra for a nonalcoholic drink at a brunch buffet. Preposterous. -Salad very average. -fruit outstanding -breakfast foods-very good - carved meats- very good -beautiful

We had gone to Livingston every time we went to see a play at the Fox. Food was always good when they had the chef who had won the TV show Top Chef ( sorry I don't remember his name). Great choices and delicious food. This was our second time there with this new chef and we won't go back. Not great choices so we ordered a hamburger medium rare. It came burnt and barely medium. Because of the service, not much time to return it. We were there 90 minutes before the show....which was across the street.

The restaurant is beautiful, and our server was one of the most attentive I have ever experienced anywhere. She was an absolute gem! I ordered the scallops with brussel sprouts and corn chowder, and it was OFF THE CHARTS! I kept remarking to my husband that it was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten! We were at the Livingston to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and the meal and atmosphere were perfect for the occasion. The price for our meal was more than we would normally pay when dining out, but we knew that going into it, and the food definitely measured up to the expense, especially the bread served before the meal and the main dishes. It was also a huge plus that the restaurant was located across the street from the Fox!

On April 19, 2014, we had noon reservations before the Saturday matinee of “The Lion King”. When we arrived at the Livingston, only the brunch buffet was being offered. The brunch looked very appetizing but our two picky teenage girls (ages 17 & 14) did not want breakfast food. The staff was very accommodating and allowed everyone to order from the children’s menu. Ideally located directly across the street from the Fox Theatre inside the Georgian Terrace, Livingston's is the best thing going when looking for a nice place to have dinner before taking in a show. There are other restaurants in the vicinity of the Fox Theatre but this one wins the prize for convenience, efficient service, great food, amazing historical architecture, and did I mention complimentary parking for a couple of hours. Livingston's is also good for weekend and holiday brunch.

First time for us at Livingston. Party of 5 included a 7 year old child. We were on our way to The Fox for Lion King. The meal was great. The service equally as fine. A wonderful experience for adults as well as our one young child with us. That says a lot for an upscale restaurant like Livingston. Our seating was perfect because we could see all the excitement on the street prior to the theatre. Also enjoyed seeing the lower level with a lovely cocktail event going on. We loved the menu choices of small plates as well as a very nice children's menu. It was just a wonderful experience all the way around. Will return to Livingston Restaurant as soon as we have the opportunity. Valet parking was a huge plus for dinner and theatre.

this was our second time dining here in recent weeks, and we had very similar experiences both times! i ordered the scallop dish at both visits, and both times, it came out hardly lukewarm. but the main issue i have is the poor service. we had dishes in front of us for 20 minutes at a time--- after we were done eating! many servers and other staff were walking right by us and nobody even looked at our table. we had to flag our server down in order for the plates to be cleared. he forgot a drink we ordered at one point, too. normally that wouldn't be such a big deal, but on top of everything else, it was miserable. so now we have had two mediocre experiences there. not going back.

This is a great place to eat before a play at the Fox. I especially am happy that they have a buffet now, at least on Sundays. It is so much more convenient and fast. My wife and I eat no meat except fish, and we found the menu almost exclusively oriented toward meat eaters. Even the oyster and mussels starters had bacon or sausage, as did the one fish entree. There was a vegetarian special, an asian tofu dish, but we're not enthusiastic about tofu, so we settled for the fish dishes prepared without the meat. A little bland, but not bad. Although we love Livingston's ambience and location, I doubt that we'll return until they change the menu.

Server wouldn't look us in the eye and only half took our order while walking by. Food took a long time coming out even though there were only a few other tables being served. Food was ok....not good enough to make up for the bad service. Really disappointing since the location/ambience is so nice. I chose the Livingston for brunch after seeing on their website that they offered a buffet specifically for the matinee shows at the Fox & had a Kid's menu. We arrived for our reservations only to be met at the door by staff saying that there would be no buffet today. The menu lacked quantity. I ordered the Quiche Lorraine that came with a shaved salad. It was barely warm when it arrived, tasted a bit stale and VERY dried up, very tasteless. The shaved salad was very plain and boring. My 4yr old said the cheeseburger he got was good. My 7yr old ordered chicken tenders, which were good, & a side of mac n cheese, which after only one bite, she could not eat. I tried it and it had a strong "onion" flavor to it!! Overpriced food & not tasty.
