This is a review based on our restaurant week experience. SERVICE: The service was pretty terrible. We had to ask the bus boy and host both for our waiter to even take our orders. We noticed ALL the other tables had been served bread, but we were never offered any. It took a good half hour for our appetizers to come out. We were in a bit of a rush, so we asked for dessert to come out with our entrees. They did NOT. Overall, the lunch was nearly 2hrs. FOOD: The food was disappointingly mediocre I got the pate, sausage, chocolate peanut sundae. For $25, you can a significantly better experience at other restaurants. The pate was fine. I was probably expecting a little more out of my entree (everything was greasy) and didn't finish it.

Came here with family of 4 for restaurant week on Sunday lunch. The hostess was very nice and he helped us to put away a walker in the front. After we sat down, a waitress greeted us and allowed us time to look over the menu. There are not too much choices for brunch. They are famous for sausages and burgers so we ordered a sausage plate and burger dish along with the two restaurant week meal. It was busy on Sunday so our food took a while to come. The sausage plate for the restaurant week was smaller compared to last year's. The burger was delicious. I told the waitress no whip cream on my dessert but she forgot but then fix it afterwards. It was my 2nd time here and still think that the menu was limited. Hope to see more selections.

I've been here about a half dozen times. And each time I've been impressed by the quality of the food and service. They have maintained, if not even improved, their level of service, food quality and their ability to delight their guests. Even DBGB's restaurant week offerings were delicious! If you haven't tried it yet, it is worth the trip to the now trendy Bowery.

Came here for my birthday dinner with 6 friends - had no idea what to expect. We had such a wonderful time picking out a bunch of different dishes to try and share. Everyone got a little of everything, which was awesome since there were so many delicious things on the menu! The restaurant had such a cool vibe and interesting decorations on the wall. Would absolutely recommend this place!

Delicious food -- even though it was restaurant week. Sensational quinoa appetizer. It was a thrill to see all the gorgeous copper cookware, used by all the famous chef names I've come to know. Cod sandwich was perfectly made -- perfect balance of fish, soft roll and wonderful mayo spread. And bread so fabulous it's a crime. I'll be back!

Restaurant week lunch was impressive. I am coming back for another lunch and a few diners before the year is out. I am difficult to please but this place has me now. Warm, attentive service. Beautifully conceived menu. Loved everything: corn soup, beet salad, Battered cod, sausage (tasted like it was made fresh that morning) and oh the desserts..original. Loved too the open and warm look of the place.

I thought our food was really good. I had the cod sandwich and corn chilled soup. We had a small issue but it was resolved perfectly. The dessert sounded better than it actually was. I had the peanut butter sundae and it was eh, and our server was pretty slow in the begining. We didnt get our drinks right away, but overall it was great. good times all around.

I've really wanted to try this restaurant for a while, so maybe that's why I'm so critical of this place. First, the good. For restaurant week, the entree portions were very generous. The beer selection was top notch including a unique Russian River beer I'd never heard of before and couldn't find on rate beer. Neat! Now the bad. Nothing really stood out about my meal. Certainly not like cafe baloud, which was fantastic. The appetizer was 3 or 4 oysters. Meh. Beacon restaurant served a half dozen smoked oysters so, 3 or 4 oysters seemed pretty pathetic. The side tables are setup poorly. One side of the table goes totally unused. Very difficult to have a conversation with everyone at the table. In short, I feel no urge to go back.

Went here for restaurant week. The chilled corn soup (appetizer) was overly sweet, honestly not at all enjoyable. The chickpea cavatelli and cherry beer ice cream were both delicious. The service was good and the restaurant itself has a really great vibe (quotes related to food all over the wall, including one by Homer Simpson, hah). Not sure if I would personally go back, but I think it is a restaurant worth visiting at least once, if only for the ice cream!

Love this place! Booked a table through the restaurant week website and mentioned that it was our first night on honeymoon from Belfast . Amazed at the attentiveness of all staff from girl on the door, to our waitress Amanda, the maître de and even the chef. They all agknowledged that we were on honeymoon. When we arrived we got 6 free oysters in the house to welcome us to nyc and also a gesture of baked Alaska cake at the end of the evening saying congrats on the plate. Excellent food, second to none service and a great atmosphere,

My daughter had recommended DBGB for a birthday celebration. I knew nothing of the restaurant so went on line to check out the menu and to get a sense of the setting. The website does not do it justice. I wasn't impressed with the exterior photos and there was not much to pics of the food. So I was skeptical. No more. The interior was so very appealing. The relaxed ambiance has an elegant urban vibe, comfortable and very romantic. Our party of four enjoyed the service, which was attentive yet not intrusive. And I can't say enough about the food! Amazing! It was a joy to be served such wonderful fare without a long wait. I recommend highly. Enjoyed the whole experience.

We were the second group to arrive a the restaurant so they were not particularly busy but our service was erratic. Our server did not seem to know anything about the oysters He just said they were either "East Coast" or" West Coast" The biggest issue was that most of our party was served at once except for myself and one other person who were finally served 10 minutes later Our server also recommended some sorbet sundaes which were so AWFUL, I could barely believe they were on the menu. the sundaes were overly sweet with a marshmallows and whipped cream. In this day and age, one should be told if they are going to be served a kiddie dessert.

Food was awesome. 4 star rating because I didn't like the Chilled Corn Soup. I don't think my taste buds are on that level. The Pate Campagnard was rich, but a great starter. Frenchie Burger, delicious but I think they forgot the tomato-onion compote, but nonetheless it was an amazing burger. My boyfriend had the Farmhouse Sausage, so yum. All the meals were the perfect amount of food. Peanut butter sundae, amazing. We couldn't drink because we had too much the night before and our 4 diet cokes cost us $14. I know it's the city but, sorry, I hate paying for refills. Got our sodas after the appetizer, but at least they were filling the water every five seconds. Loved the decor, ambiance. The staff was very friendly.

Most dishes were ok, but underserving its "out of this world" reputation. The omelet was worthy of American Airlines: tasteless, industrial, with styrofoam texture. Salad lacking vinaigrette. The server and manager were concerned, came over to inquire what had happened, took the omelet from our bill and sent a complimentary dessert. Overrated. Do not waist your time and money.

We went for the restaurant week lunch. The chilled corn soup was delicious. However, the most famous Frenchie Burger was tasting very bad; a very small Beef patty which had no BEEF taste, and hard to bite. Farmhouse Sausages were too salty and less juicy. I can not believe this restaurant is under the famous Chef Daniel Boulud's management, and can not compare to other Boulud's restaurants in Midtown and Uptown, NYC. At last, I was so surprised the waiter was charging our food as regular price, not the restaurant week lunch price, and she fixed the price after I was complained. I will never recommend this restaurant to my friends again, but I will still go to dine in other Boulud's restaurants.

I've been to DBGB twice for NYC Restaurant Week and been thoroughly pleased both times. I would be happy to come back even when it's not Restaurant Week. The menu is diverse and interesting enough to tempt me back. Environment is more casual and approachable than some of the other Daniel Boulud restaurants, though it was very loud. Love how the kitchen opens up to the dining room, spent some time watching all of the action. Enjoyed my steak au poivre and loved my friend's Frenchie burger. My friend ordered the chef's choice cheese plate for dessert, but we were never told what the cheeses were. Overall a great experience.

We went for the $38 prix fixe for restaurant week. The chilled corn soup was delicious. However, the steak au poivre was mediocre-sliced steak, hardly any peppercorns, and the sauce was...odd. Not what I expect or love when I order the dish. The dessert, Black Forest cake had no relation to actual black forest cake, which I've had in its natural habitat, Germany. It was more like spumoni-cream/chocolate, etc in one congealed chunk, cherries on the side, ice cream added on the side. If restaurant week is intended to entice diners to eat at a specific restaurant at full price by showing off some excellent cuisine, DBGB failed spectacularly. I'll never go back. Overpriced and medocre.

Overall I really enjoyed the food and the servers were really friendly and helpful. However, my friend is allergic to gluten and asked for them to make sure all here meals were without gluten which they said they did, however she still had an allergic reaction to something they served. Even with this she said it was really good and had a lot of fun. Just be ware of allergies.
