  • THIS WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE
    OpenTable Diner Since 2013

THIS WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE DINING AT ASSIGNMENTS. IT IS THE TEACHING RESTAURANT FOR THE CULINARY ARTS SCHOOL. IMPORTANT TO ME, IT WAS SPARKLINGLY CLEAN, VERY WELL MAINTAINED, AND COMFORTABLE, WITH BOOTHS AND TABLES. WE WERE GREATED BY A HOSTESS AND SEATED IMMEDIATELY, THEN GREETED BY OUR WAITPERSON, A STUDENT ABOUT TO GRADUATE. I WAS DISAPPOINTED WHEN MY FIRST MENU CHOICE WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE, BUT HAPPY WITH THE SALMON I CHOSE. IT WAS PERFECTLY PREPARED AND DELICIOUS, AS WERE THE VEGETABLES; FRESH CARROTS AND GREEN BEANS. THE RICE PILAF LEFT MUCH TO BE DESIRED; IT ACTUALLY WAS SIMPLE WHITE RICE WITH NO SEASONING, MUSHY, FLAVORLESS AND OVERCOOKED. THE EXPERIENCE AS A WHOLE WAS ENJOYABLE AND I WILL GO BACK AGAIN.

First time at Assignments, I've already recommended it to several friends as an excellent lunch location. Very attractive space, comfortable, elegant / casual. Menu was diverse and interesting with reasonable prices. The food was well prepared and tasty. Service level high -- wait staff seemed happy to be there. I'll go back even though it's a bit out of the way for my routines! I'll try dinner next.

The food was great and the service, by the college students great. They are doing a good job and learning to run restuarants in an appealing environment. This is a quiet, well appointed venue and I would be comfortable bringing guests here, both for the food and for a pleasant overall dining experience. Mike Sherrill

This restaurant was amazing. It was interesting to watch the food being prepared and the quality was excellent. The price was very reasonable for the quality of food. We will definately go back when we're in Denver again.

For a cooking school's restaurant it was EXCELLENT! No, their service and restaurant protocol wasn't perfect, but the delicious and beautifully-presented food overshadowed their minor flaws!I will definitely go back there again (prob for lunch rather than dinner - more of a lunch atmosphere it seems)!

There were kitchen problems. Every restaurant has a bad day. The rice was served cold. But the rest of our order was great. The crab cakesm melted in my miuth. I think next time I will only order them as a meal. The Aspen Salad had a last minute dressing change. But it was still a winner. The Mediterranean Salad was great. The chicken was great and the smashed potateos were a nice break from the usual. The salmon was just a touch undercooked, but otherwise delicious. We will return. It is an added nice touch to be conversaitonwith the students. I would only add that it seemed that when problems occured, the chef wasn't nearby to assist the students and help them out of a jam.

The Assignments is a place operated by Culinary Arts Institut students, under the excellent supervision of Business Manager, Amber Gyhra. The restaurant has a balanced mixture of atmosphere, formal and professional as well as casual and relaxed. This unique atmosphere is created by a group of student's efforts to master culinary art and hospitality. Always a joy to dine at The Assignments. Anoosh Khajehtourian

It was my third trip in 9 years. These are culinary arts students, I totally get it. However, when I asked what about the mussels provencal she hasn't a clue about the liquid in the broth, nor the type of mussels, and returns to the kitchen to find out, but advises is "86'd", it was a bad sign. I believe we were one /4 occupied tables at 1pm on a Wed. My tomato bisque took >10 mins to arrive and was lukewarm on arrival. I ordered the Aspen salad, with chicken for my main course. Aesthetically beautiful, one dimensional in flavor and not worth eating. I left most of it. She brought a teaser of desserts, but they looked rode hard and put away soggy. I will try again when they come back from summer break.

Heard about you through a radio talk show -Made reservations for husband's birthday... The restaurant seemed more like an office that had restaurant booths and tables instead of desks - there was no atmosphere of coziness or elegance. The waitress was very friendly but awkward -we realized she was learning and that was not a big issue. The food however was literally cold & not well prepared. The polenta was stange tasting and runny. The cabbage was too sweet. The worst part was the cold duck. My daughter had similiar comments about her trout meal. My husband's steak was approx. 30 percent gristle - a very poor cut of meat. We felt we paid way too much for the quality and quantity and will not be back. Quality does not match Pricing

We really enjoyed the experience. The students' service was great as well as the food. We ordered the table side steak and the chef was very friendly and delivered and excellent tasting dinner. Our hoistess and server was great too! We will be back! The value was great too, we spent $68 including a $15 tip. What a great little secret we will recommend to everyone we know. Thank You!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2004
    Dined on 11/9/2007
I've been going to Assignments for years. We've dined there with groups, clients, out of town visitors, family, and friends. The menu is always new as are the staff owing to the student rotation. The quality of food and even service can be inconsistent as a result, but we've been quite happy 85% of the time and the times where we had an issue, we shared it with management and they graciously made it right either on the spot or at a later time. It's fun to interact with the students, it's small enough to be quiet and cozy. And its one of the more affordable dinners of this type you'll get in Denver.
