  • Plume is a grand restaurant

Plume is a grand restaurant in the tradition of the old great started Michelin places in France. Gracious greeting, excellent table spacing, three layers of service for the tables bringing and taking of tableware on silver trays, and excellent table settings. There is a minimum of attitude here, so anyone can feel at home. Plume is supported by its own bar, but the hotel also has a much bigger active bar. For a first visit--for diner very familiar with the best of Europe--this was my best experience in a long time--in Washington. I was very impressed. The food was also stellar, for the most part. The appetizers were A+ and the main courses excellent. We will return often!!

This was my second visit to Plume, my first dinner having occured two nights earlier. I loved the ambiance so much that I had to return, even though I thought the food was lackluster. Tonight everything was wonderous. We had the tasting menu which featured a perfectly prepared beef filet, a sunchoke soup (I just wanted to lick the bowl), and a remarkable dish of scallops and risotto. Plume's intimate dining room is the most beautiful in DC, with the fireplace being especially welcoming on chilly nights, such as this. The service was nearly faultless, personable and utterly charming. Everything came together tonight-the ambiance, the food and the service-to make this an extraordinary evening.

I came with three other women to treat ourselves to a holiday dinner. We felt welcome, respected and among friends. We truly enjoyed our evening at Plume. The service, ambiance and attention were wonderful. While I would return for the over-all adventure, I must admit that the food was really only average. The experience, however, was over the top!

Plume is a noble successor to my beloved Willard Room. This is now THE place in DC for classical dining. The intimate dining room is gorgeous with very comfortable seating. Plume excels at the small touches: the silver pheasants on the table, the damask table cloth, the fine china. It's all exceptionally beautiful. The service needs a tad more polish but is still competant & charming. Unfortunately the food leans towards the lackluster. It was perfectly good but did not match the spectacular atmosphere. The parade of amuse bouches was delightful as was the appetizer of foie gras ravioli. The cheese cart was fabulous. Everything else was very good but not particularly memorable. Nonetheless dining at Plume was a most worthwhile experience.

From the moment you walk into the cozy lobby of the Jefferson hotel, you know your dinner at Plume is going to be exceptional. I had dinner with a visiting friend from China and there are just not enough superlatives to describe how memorable it was: great staff, great food--including at least three complementary tastings from the Chef--exceptionally romantic ambiance. As my friend put it: "Words alone can't describe the great dinner experience they served up." Portions were ideally sized for a slow cadence dinner. A must have is the Passion Fruit suffle. Exceptional service by the entire staff, especially reading my concerns that dinner was progressing too quickly, and the pace slowed to our rhythm. Dinner of a lifetime!

Our dinner at Plume was absolute perfection. We did the tasting menu with wine pairing. Kudos to the culinary staff for fantastic selections. However, it was the service that just put us over the edge. They went out of their way to ensure that we made our theatre reservation and yet the pace was still relaxed and their attitudes warm and gracious. The ambiance was elegant and romantic.

Plume's cheese cart, with a variety of cheese rarely found in Wshington, is a stunning finish to a remarkable experience.

Unlike other reviews I read on Plume, we thought the service was exceptional and the food was exceptional as well. Of the entrees we had, the beef was out of this world, the sauce amazing. And the pumkin suffle was a perfect treat. My one complaint would be that the fireplace that created ambience made the banquet we were sitting in unbelievably warm. Thankfully the staff gave us a pass on wearing our jackets during dinner due to this. Fantastic place, will definitely be back for special occasions.

My wife and I visited to celebrate a birthday. We arrived a bit early, yet we were seated immediately. The service staff was friendly and attentive – even if it seemed all of them visited our table throughout the evening. We opted for the tasting menu w/the premium wine flight – the only way to go well worth the additional cost. The Sommelier was very good offering his comments and history of each step of the flight – the most enjoyable part of the evening. The food was excellent – however, we were looking for something more from the desert perspective. The meal did take a considerable amount of time (3 1/2 hours) – as there did seem to be a lag between the salad and the fish entrée – but we were not in a hurry. All in all a very nice

What a more-than-pleasant surprise! After readying a review in the Washington Post, I was concerned that we would be overwhelmed by the staff. This was not true at all. The service was very attentive though at times spotty. The chef's tasting was excellent however the pacing by the staff was incosistent. The BEST part of the evening was the young sommelier who added an unexpected twist! Due to the age of some in the party we chose to forego the wine pairings. He suggested we try a non-alcoholic pairing that he had put together. I was initially skeptical, expecting variations on grape juice. We were blown away by his creativity and skill in managing flavors and tastes. All in all, it was a wonderful meal with good service. We will be back.

Very accomodating even as we were late in the recently remodeled Jefferson Hotel. We celebrated our anniversary with a toast, drinking a wonderfully selected non-alch chardoney in a quiet and inviting atmosphere. She inhaled the aged beef whilst I devoured the scallops. We enjoyed the rich earthy tones to the meal. We'll return.

We had dinner with my parents, we could have not picked a better venue. We were very much impressed by the food, the wine and the service. The ambience in the dining room was very cosy and warm. The PLUME staff is very eager to please you, maybe too eager. We had a lot of attention and had to stop from our conversation several times to hear about, etc, but when you needed to have more wine, it was hard to find anyone.... Great service is invisible. The food was yummy, the tasting menu brilliant, but not too filling (teased about stopping at 5 Guys on the way home) Once they get the service fine tuned, it will be a real gem. The bar scene was great and they even had a wonderful piano player who took requests, very NYC feeling. I can see the bar becoming a real hang out for out of towners i wanted to see the bar menu, which would be a great first date BTW
