A word from Root Down
Root Down aims to connect the neighborhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food. There should be a seamless bond between the elements and experience, which stimulates the senses and draws people in.

Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own.

At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

My friends and I were visiting from Texas. We made it a point to visit as many of the culinary places in Denver as possible. We discussed it following our trip and it was our favorite spot we ate at. It is a must stop place in Denver for any foodie! The staff was knowledgable and loved what the restaurant stands for. Food was superb and incredibly tasty. It will be a must stop whenever I am in the Denver area. The Scallops were superbly cooked, and the creme brûlée maybe the best dessert I have ever eaten... so good. I would recommend this for anyone looking for great food and atmosphere.

I found Root Down last year when I was here for a conference. I love the veg options and the bartender was amazing and offered several great suggestions for food and drink. I've wanted to take my meat eating boyfriend here and we recently had a wedding near by.I made reservations 2 weekends in advance. Ony two time spots left then. We had an attentive and fantastic server. I got carrot thai soup, veggie sliders and the vegan chocolate ice cream. Everything was great but the soup was my favorite. My bf had antelope with heirloom tomatoes and chipotle corn. He is still raving about it. Varied dress from sundresses to jeans and t shirt to collared shirts for men. Laid back atmosphere and can't wait to be back in Denver again for this place.

Can't seem to get enough of this restaurant and its offerings. Anytime I have company in town with enough advance notice and time, I make it a point to take them to Root Down. The signature cocktails, appetizers and entrees are all noteworthy. The large and small portion options are also a nice option for some of the entrees since I can't resist ordering a couple of the appetizers and/or salads for the table every time I'm there.

We have been to Root Down several times in the past 6 weeks and always come away feeling pleased with the experience. This time was extra special....everything came together: great table, great waitress, FANTASTIC food, creative new menu items. We took advantage of their Sunday Family Dinner...3 courses, creative choices in each of the 3 courses...all for $30.00 per person. Everything tastes so fresh! love the varied ingredients they use to layer flavors. GO and TRY it all!!!

Sometimes it is a challenge to find an eating establishment where my family is in agreement with the menu options. I'm vegan, my husband craves meat, and my son is very picky, mostly vegetarian. Root Down has always met the these different expectations on what a great dinner should be. Fantastic food, artfully presented. It has become our tradition to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries there.

After enjoying Root Down in the airport every chance I get and unsuccessfully trying to get a reservation at Root Down in Denver, I was able to get a reservation for my wife, daughter and I in celebration of our 27th wedding anniversary. I was kind embarrassed to admit my favorite restaurant in the Denver area was in the airport, but now I can claim a restaurant that's actually in Denver. They're wonderful. It's pricy, but a foodie paradise and well worth it.

We were wanting to come into town for our anniversary - just to get a change of pace. Root Down was vibrant, fun, and excellent food. We went with out of town guests, and they loved the interesting variety of foods, and loved most of what they tried. (We decided to order a lot of small plates and share intend of any entrees, and that made it fun to try multiple dishes). There were a couple of dishes we tried that were good, but not great, but the overall experience was wonderful. Sat outdoors which was nice, but not exciting or overly scenic.

The food was good, though it was overly hyped up from the reviews that I read (other than Yelp, of course). I have been to other foodie cities, and Root Down did not meet my expectations of an organic/locally sourced restaurant. It was good but overpriced, but overall, anything you buy organic is overpriced. The attitude of the server was okay, due to our decision to not share plates - she gave us this air of pretentious judgment. I only once had this air of judgment, and it was at a very similar place with an even bigger let down. However, her service was impeccable. Needless to say, we will not be going back unless if it's a free meal.

I love how the menu changes often to reflect what's in season. You know you aren't getting frozen or canned food here! Salad dressing compliment the salad, not dominate it. Had lamb sliders and the accompanying dips were lightly flavored, again, not overpowering. The lamb was cooked perfectly. Friends had salmon and scallops, both prepared excellently. The salmon was moist and flaky. The scallops weren't overcooked (which happens too often). We had an italian pinot grigio with the meal which complimented it quite well. Great service too.

I've been to root down many times since moving to Denver. This last dining experience was the worst. Our server was completely inattentive, and we often had to track other people down for drinks and to clear plates. When I did see our server, he was not paying attention to us, and I had to stand up and ask him to order, for water, etc. I'll give RD another chance, but I'll gladly find another favorite if this happens again.

This is my 3rd or 4th time eating at Root Down. The food is always tasty, interesting, and well prepared and the service has usually been spot on. While the food during our most recent visit was great, the service was so strange/disappointing I would reconsider whether I would dine there again. We shared several small plates and the timing of their arrival was off, waiters were slow to pick up dirty plates, refill drinks or acknowledge the slowness of the food. As a former waitress, I understand that quality of service can be just as important as the quality of the food, and in this regard, Root Down failed.
