From an out-of-towners perspective, this is a nice masculine-esque formal dining space. The food was very good, not great and the service was a bit sub par. For the price, I left feeling underwhelmed. I appreciated that the staff was considerate of my food allergy and took proper precautions to ensure I stayed safe. However, one individual on our table had a drink poured on him and the personality of our waitress was more than lackluster. A bit disappointing. In general, a decent dining experience. However, when spending $300+ per couple, I expect to walk away with a spectacular meal in a spectacular setting with spectacular service.

I have eaten here before, as well as Bourbon Steak in Washington DC. Brought some very good Clients and my Bosses. Bourbon did not disappoint. Their service is friendly and very attentive. The wines were wonderful -- the 3 that we ordered were small distribution California wines, excellent. Especially liked the Lutum from Lompoc, CA. The food, of course, was delicious -- from the starters (gnudi, tuna tartare), to the steaks to the sides. And the chocolate dessert was decadent. And I appreciate that the sound level is not so loud that you cannot have a normal conversation. We were there on a Tuesday evening, and it was full. A very fun evening.

The service was subpar for a meal where we spent about $140 a person for dinner. Seating us at a very SMALL table for our party of 10. With a broken extension. We had to suggest a solution before anyone took initiative to get it fixed. Food was okay. Nice Steak - Server neglected to serve items without Bacon, upon request. Service was poor - Leaving our app plates on the table for 20 minutes after we we done eating. I had to call over staff to clear our table of plates. Ask for more water! Really?!?! Where is the Michael Mina of yesteryear... Where they anticipated your every need and the service was on par with a $1400 dinner table for 8 adults, 2 children with only 2 bottles of moderately priced wines.

The food and service was wonderful. Pricier than most, but quality and service was worth it. I had the kale salad and vegetarian dumplings and my husband had the caesar salad an 8 oz filet which was cooked perfectly. French fries instead of bread course was a welcomed surprise. We also tried the donuts for dessert, yummy! Wished we had seen the whiskey cart before we left, can't wait to try that the next time.

The food was very good. However, the service was the worst I have ever experienced. The restaurant was not full. After each ordering a salad, we asked to split the lobster pot pie. Apparently unhappy with our decision to split an $80 entree, the waiter became intentionally rude, unhelpful and inattentive. We asked to speak to a manager--who offered an unconvicning and half hearted apology. As a result of work, I eat out about 200 times a year--and have for many years. This is first time I left no tip. I will never return to this restaurant.

I went here because I was a guest at the hotel. It was my 10 year wedding anniversary. I have eaten at Bourbon before but it was my wife's first time. We did the tasting menu and it was superb. We also added the beverage pairing. They were late bringing out one of our wine pairings so we ended up eating the plate without the wine. The manager came over and apologized and gave us the entire pairing on the house. The tasting menu had about 5 dishes so that is 10 free glasses of booze. I was really impressed how they handled the situation and would have been happy with just the apology but I am kinda laid back where most people tend to over stress. I highly recommend this spot.

This was our second visit to the restaurant. We selected this restaurant so we could celebrate in a "fine dining" setting. It seemed very amateur. As if we were being served by children. First of all, they wanted to seat us in the bar area at a table for 6 and our reservation was for 8. They did make other seating arrangements in main dining area. and squeezed us into a round table for 6. The portions were so small ...Price was $135 per person! My husbands fish was ineatible. I will not be back or suggest to any of my friends. Our bill was $2000 for 8 people. Next time our money will go elsewhere.

I was looking forward to the menu I saw online. We were not aware or told that there was a set menu that night. The food was good but not all of it was of our liking. ( we had five in our party ). We did enjoy ourselves. When the check arrived and it included a 20% service fee that was fine however the waiter circled " service fee " and it seemed as if he wanted more. All in all it was a pretty good meal. We will return on a night that is not a Holiday.

Nothing special about this place aside from the great service and delicious pome frites.... the decor is odd, the ambiance somewhere between a hall and a comfy hotel lobby but not what you'd expect from a high priced steak house. The salad was fresh but not very tasty or original, the pome fites were very good but strangely they're not on the menu but instead come as a complimentary appetizer. The service is spectacular and the wine list complete but the other overall experience and food left me wanting more.... if you're looking for a great steak, I'd go elsewhere but if you're new to SF or not wanting to walk too far, it will work. I hate to say it but If you want a great experience, go to Mortons...

Bourbon steak is located within the Westin St. Francis. It is a great steakhouse, with a great wine list. We all had some type of salad and they were average. They try to make their own version of some classic salads such as the lettuce wedge salad, and mess it up. Think people! there is a reason why the wedge salad in Morton's, Palm, Ruth Chris, etc are sought so much, they are great!! The steaks on the other hand were very good, tender and juice and cooked to perfection.

There are many fine restaurants to dine at in the Bay Area that will not make you feel you got completely ripped off when you leave like Bourbon Steak does. First, no children's menu, so no children's pricing either. Went after viewing Beauty & The Beast at the Curran with my 9 year old daughter. I never imagined a children's menu wouldn't be made available. Wine list is astronomical. No reason to pay $50+ dollars for a steak of this quality. Everything was really salty - beginning to end of meal. Appetizers cost as much as entrees do at other restaurants. Bottom line - not worth the hype or the price.

We have been there several times before. Amazing dinners that turned my kids into foodies. Not at that level anymore. First the confirmation call was not fine. She gave me attitude since she left a message while I called them back. The tasting menu was uneven. Some dishes where superb, some were flat. Unfortunately the main plate was the one flat. The drinks were awesome. They tack service charge to a party of 5 which I never seen before. The tip is my choice, not their choice. Then when I paid I was asked to leave the table as they needed it for another reservation, after I paid over $700 !!! To be fair, my main server was flawless. However I asked another server to see the menu again and she never came back.

We dined on Christmas Eve - food was excellent, service good but not outstanding. Would highly recommend this restaurant but perhaps go during the week when activity is a little more relaxed in the restaurant. Our selections of tuna tartarte, steak, stuffed quail, brussel sprouts were wonderful and the french fries, served to all diners, with dipping sauce, was a super addition.

Pleasant staff, weak tabletop concept. Good steakhouse fare but no wow factor dishes per se. Actually, this restaurant's strongest suit by far was the desserts AND the cute little pastry trollie, fun and very offbeat; apparently a talented American pastry chef presides and steals the show from the line cooks before. Great wine list but clearly too marked up- few decent bottles under say about $120 or more and NO half bottles, a mistake these days. Beef quality was good but plating presentation a bit bit dull; sides were excellent and huge, especially the Brussels sprouts seared in maple syrup. Overall, expensive and didn't at all dazzle, but if $ not a concern, a strong enough overall experience to ensure a good dinner.

This is an amazing restaurant, fabulous dining experience. Service was excellent and very prompt. My only complaint was that here on OpenTable it portrayed the average price per person as $30 to $50 dollars and this is a myth. We averaged $100 per person easy and could have spent $175 a person with deserts and appetizers. We could afford this adventure, but if you made reservations based on the information here you might put yourself in a bind as far as the price goes. This has nothing to do with the restaurant, its amazing, just be aware.

We had the chef's special duck dinner on Christmas Eve. The duck confit, even though the menu said leg of duck only had bits of duck on the salad. The menu stated crispy duck and the duck was not crispy for the entree. The cheesecake was just a taste. Overall it was a very disappointing menu and evening. We had so many other choices and we are disappointed we went with the Bourbon Steak menu for Christmas Eve. Will be more discriminating in the future.

We knew this restaurant was expensive, but given that it was Michael Minna we were up for the experience. The food was below par. Our steak was flavorless, and the rest of the food WAY below par on what you should expect from the price and reputation. I realize in talking with friends they have had a similar experience. I wanted my money back when I was done. I think Ruth Chris has WAY better steaks and half the cost. It was very disappointing.

It was my wife's 60th B-Day. Along with another couple we were seated at a nice table and attended by Amy. For appetizers we ordered (1) Steak and (1) Tuna Tartar, both were very good along with the potato f rites and topping selection The wine Amy suggested was a great choice with the appetizers. The Manhattan I ordered was syrupy and not very good. My wife's Martini was credible. After reviewing the menu we decided because of the menu selections and the noise level of the room that we would prefer to dine at a less noisy place with a more American menu. The Japanese Beef Steak by the ounce was a real turn off. Overall the menu is pretentious and is directed more towards and international palate. The menu is not indicative of S.F.

None of us was disappointed. It was really good. We were on the early side because of early theater tickets, but they made sure we got through in time. Nice wine recommendation, too. Beautiful restaurant, wonderful server, she was warm and professional. We brought 2 teens who are fairly sophisticated diners but the menu floored them, and my husband and I thought it over the top as well. The good: Sweet potato fries with dipping sauce were great, son ordered veal and sweetbreads and devoured his meal (but then....he's a teen). He and I both ordered the squash/sea urchin soup and both thought it was much too busy, fewer ingredients would have made for a more delicious soup. My husband's steak was excellent, my snapper was fine. My daughter ordered dumplings that were not particularly good and extremely expensive for the plate, she had fun devouring my husband's steak though. Bill ran to $400 and only one of us imbibed.
