We actually also stayed at Applewood Inn for several days and found the food and ambiance to be exactly as we wanted! The dinner we enjoyed at the Inn was divine and the wine selection was one of the best I'd seen! We highly recommend a dining experience at this inn!

I will have to say that I live down the street from the Applewood Inn, but never stepped foot in the place. Since this was my first dining experience at this location, I was amazed at the quality of the service and the food was the best. Excellent selections from the menu, and prepared beautifully. I would say that this was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had!

We were celebrating two birthdays and looked forward to our first visit to the Applewood Inn. The service and food were outstanding and we found our favorited wine on the wine list. They split our salads as desired. And the entrees were incredible - duck, beef and halibut. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the two candles with a shared dessert! It was a wonderful occasion.

It was OUTSTANDING. We drove from Sonoma, so about an hour drive - worth every minute. The atmosphere was great, service perfect, and most of all the food was memorable. I would rank it as one of the top West Coast restaurants! The Chef and staff really bent over backwards to accomodate us. The lamb chops were probably one of the best I have ever had.

The Applewood Inn is tucked away in a romantic little spot with wonderful views. The staff was very attentive without being overly so. The food was amazing. I highly recommend The chef's sampler. The portion sizes were not overwhelming and you get to try little bits of a lot of wonderful things. We had it with the complimentary wine sampling. Beware, they give you full glasses of wine for each. Thank goodness we were staying at the Inn. I wish I lived closer to the Applewood I would go there on a regular basis.

OMG! This was hands down the best food and wine experience we've had. Quiet casual elegance with stunning food. We had the chefs sampler with the wine pairing. The food just knocked our socks off and the wine pairings were inspiring. The wait staff could not have been more friendly or knowledgeable. The surroundings in late June had blossoms and quiet courtyards to wonder through. Lovely local views and greenery. Well worth the price we paid. Definitely for the special occasion evening and you don't have to be in a suit or slacks to enjoy it.

This was our second visit to the Applewood Inn, a gem in the Russian River Valley area. Although the menu is rather limited, there is always something that appeals. Presentation is excellent and food is reliably delicious. We love the wines of the region and will definitely return to the Applewood Inn next time we visit the area.

  • The Applewood Inn's restaurant
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 6/16/2009
The Applewood Inn's restaurant overlooks its charming gardens and has a delightfully welcoming staff, as well as a blessedly quiet dining room with gentle background music of the sort you only wish other fine restaurants would provide. In other words, it's genuinely romantic. As you would hope from a restaurant in the middle of wine country, there's a good wine list, and a small separate wine bar at the entrance. (Just outside the entrance is a small smoking parlor, an item of great importance for my fiance.) The chef is creative and daring, combining unusual ingredients to good effect and taking full advantage of local game and produce. Presentation is artistic. Special needs are happily accommodated. Desserts are deadly.

Overall a very nice experience. This was our second time dining here and the food was very good as was the service. It was early in the season so there were not too many people there but the menu options were still varied and well prepared.

  • My girlfriend took me to this
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 5/23/2009
My girlfriend took me to this establishment for my birthday dinner (and hers which is four days later). We were staying at the Village Inn in Monte Rio, which has a great dining room and fantastic food. But at Applewood Inn's dining room, we felt snubbed and unhappy. First, the hostess couldn't find our reservation from Open Table. When she did find us, we were seated in the covered deck area of the restaurant, which was too bright and too warm. The waitstaff was excellent but the food was not. Applewood's offerings were pretty uninspired in our opinion. The manager chatted with each table on the deck but inexplicably ignored us. By contrast, the Village Inn waitstaff was friendly, courteous and helpful. We do not recommend Applewood.

  • The corkage fee for this esablishme
    Jett
    Dined on 4/15/2009
The corkage fee for this esablishment is a little high - $25.00 which was brought because this establishment doesn't have a really good wine list - especially since it is in wine country. The service was not really good - we had to ask for pepper a few times and it is evident that "kids" are serving that haven't had much training on the art.

This was our first visit to Applewood Inn, but won't' be our last. The food was really wonderful. We made the right decision to split our dishes, so we got to taste more than we would have otherwise. The mushroom & onion tart was delicious as a starter as were our entries. The menu had great creative twists on traditional dishes plus some items that were very unique. We'll definitely return. Too bad they aren't open for lunch!

I generally don't give 5 stars to anything unless it is truly out-of-this-world spectacular, as opposed to just very, very good. Applewood Inn is the latter-- innovative and delicious food, an extremely nice setting, attentive and helpful staff, and a generally wonderful experience. You will not be disappointed.

We went here for my birthday and the food and wine was amazing. The staff was wonderful and it felt like a dinner party at a house rather then dinner out due to how nice the staff was but the food was way better then anything we could have made. I am excited about getting a chance to go back.
