Known for their burgers, mine was perfect. Try the three course meal for $22 which includes a good old fashioned shake. Both of us had the yellow tomato gazpacho which was excellent. Our server Zak made sure everything was perfect. Wish we were closer; this place is worth the drive and the splurge.

  • Good "burger bar"
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 6/16/2013
It's a shame that Cayton's downgraded their once exquisite menu to one of a fancy "burger bar." Oh, excuse me - a burger "bistro." For a burger bar the food is good and the atmosphere nice. Service was so-so as we asked for limes to put in our water THREE TIMES and they never showed up. The bill, however, was prompt.

We loved the outside ambiance and overall our party of seven enjoyed the food. The milkshakes are wonderful and the burgers were excellent. My husband and I had the buffalo burgers on the whole wheat roll. Unfortunately the rolls were stale and dry, so we had to eat the burgers without the bread. The server was attentive, but got our entrees confused and all seven of us had to rotate dishes until we got what we had ordered.

We've dined at Cayton's on several occasions. We love the views and the typical Ritz-class service, and were anxious to try their new menu. Sadly, the service was sub-par. I don't blame our waiter; they were obviously way understaffed on this night. We do like the menu, and based on our previous experiences there, I'm sure we will return.

Cayton's a casual place to grab a burger, a milk shake or the beverage of your choice. Views from the patio across Dove Mountain GC and the valley in the distance is quite nice. Food is pretty basic, so don't expect gourmet. That said my burger was done perfectly and my wife had a crab cake burger that she liked as well. Service was a bit sketchy, even though the place was mostly empty, which was weird given how big a deal it seemed to be to get a table. There are multiple fireplaces to sit by while dining, which comes in handy when night time temps drop off into the 50's. Catch a sunset from the patio with a burger and a beer.

Because Cayton's has now become the "Burger Bistro", and they have a fine variety of hamburgers, how about just a regular cheeseburger? Otherwise, the food was good and the service quite nice. Would have loved to have eaten outside but was a little windy and chilly.

Asked 3 times for dressing on the side of salad, no onion before it came that way. Turkey burger extremely dry. Short ribs were under seasoned, lacked flavor. Couldn't find our waiter for quite a spell, when one of us wanted another beverage. The white haven Sauvignon Blanc was well-chilled. Appreciated that.

Very disappointed to find the the menu was glorified bar food and not in keeping with what we expected from a "Ritz Carlton" restaurant. Might return for a drink and sun set, if they stay in business, but not to eat. Waitress was friendly but noe attentive. Also, brought the wrong drinks for the first round.

An overpriced golf club grill. We went there for lunch and the place was empty. The hostess and waiter were less than enthusiastic, but who could blame them. The $17 hamburger was tasty but the $15 turkey club was not notable and the bread was dry. The club house and views are beautiful ... it has lots of potential but not at these prices.

  • The good: Beautiful mountain
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 10/10/2012
The good: Beautiful mountain views, eating next to the golf course at sunset is so relaxing, the staff is responsive and all willing to help in every way, and the cognacs, though expensive, were great. The bad: The menu is not very extensive at all - only a handful of entrees to choose from - and if you eat outside you will get attacked by swarms of gnats. This was very frustrating as we wanted to sit outside and watch the sunset but nature ran us away. The bugs will follow you inside but at least they aren't swarming you, your food, and your drinks.

Superb kitchen, superb service, a wonderful evening dinner on the patio under the stars. The server provided a small led flex stick light for perusing the menu, that then sat on the table top for plate illumination, without disturbing anyone else. The dessert menu is sinful - absolutely scrumptious.

Cayton's is a lovely restaurant with nice views. The lunch menu, however, was a little disappointing in that it didn't have much on it. We would have liked more choices. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad and didn't realize that the lettuce was not chopped but came the "old fashioned" way.......it was difficult to eat and pretty spicy. My husband ordered the burger with sweet potato fries. He enjoyed the hamburger and said the fries were the best he had ever had. We would definitely go back but would like to see a more extensive menu.

We were staying at the Ritz-Carlton and chose Cayton's for my birthday dinner because I liked the "American comfort food" selections on the menu. Everything looked and sounded so good that everyone in my party commented that they had a difficult time making up their minds on settling on just one entree. The food and service were impeccable: the food was perfectly prepared food in appropriate quantities, and the service was attentive but not intrusive.I can't comment on the noise because there were only a few other diners in the restaurant at the time (we were there off-season). Had it been a little bit cooler outside, we might have eaten outside -- the patio is beautiful -- but the restaurant itself is also beautiful.

I thought the background music was too loud, and the lighting overhead was too bright. Otherwise the atmosphere was nice. The people sitting next to us were so close that they followed our conversation and watched us the entire time. Our waitress rudely interrupted our conversation and seemed in a rush for us to place our orders. I also did not like that she cleared my husband's plate before the rest of us were finished with our meals. I would have expected better training from the Ritz. My husband's chicken chop was very average.

The service was excellent. The menu was creative and prices were reasonable. The food presentation was notable. Assorted rolls were appreciated as was the fact that we went during the Passover Holiday and it was mentioned that Matzo was available-a very considerate touch for a few of our guests. It was quiet and we were left undisturbed to chat for as long as we wished. What struck each of us is how welcoming every staff member was....obviously well-trained. It really is a lovely place to dine.

Spent second night of our anniversary at Cayton's. I have to say that my meal was not as memorable as my wife's. She order the braised beef ribs while I ordered the chicken chop. The ribs were amazing. This is a must try! My chicken chop was a very plain meal. I was expecting more flavor...it could have used a gravy or sauce to liven it up. Ambience was nice with views of the course. I believe it is much better suited as a lunch gathering or for early dinner after a round of golf.
