We had eaten at Bouley several years ago, before it moved to its current location. It was the best meal we had eaten up to that point in our lives. Lunch at Bouley last week was just as good. It still registers as an outstanding restaurant in every way. I will go back again, the next time we're in New York.

I really enjoyed the decor at Bouley. The hanging fruit chandeliers were my favorite. The food was very good. I would highly recommend the foie gras but would advise opting for something other than the asparagus soup. The service was very friendly and pleasant. Overall the experience was very good.

One of the loveliest meals we have had in New York. The food was beautiful and the busy restaurant is testament to the quality of this establishment. I've heard the setting described as 'romantic chic' and it was. The only things that let this restaurant down are that the tables are too close together and the service is a bit hit and miss. Some staff are excellent, some are a little out of their depth. Still, I would return in a heartbeat to repeat this dining experience.

This is my 2nd Bouley restaurant, and I went here for a special occasion. The tasting menu is a great option and I highly recommend it. Wine selection was great at well. However, having been to Bouley's other restaurant, Danube, I prefer the food at Danube better. However, Bouley has a much better ambiance. For foodies, go to Danube, for special occasions, go to Bouley! Either way, you can't lose! PS: I know it's tempting since he makes the best bread in the world, but try not to load up on the bread (even though its so tempting!). Save some room for the meal!

The prix fixe tasting lunch was excellent, the food was beautifully plated, the flavors perfectly layered and the ambience and service were topnotch. Relaxed, opulent, dark - a contrast from the bright daylight. Tasting menu: stunning amuse bouche and tuna with shaved fennel was nectar - every flavour distinct, yet complementary. The shrimp, squid and scallop in ocean broth perfect, different textures yet all tasted of the sea, refined, yet complex. Unfortunately these were the highlights, as the salmon, unusually delicate in flavour suffered from too much going on so that the tastes melded into one. Chicken and the suckling pig, while perfectly cooked and very pleasing, seemed lacklustre. No fungi in any dish had the flavour one expects. However, the hot valhrona pudding and apple tart were high quality and the sorbets/ice cream very good. Excellent service. Well worth the trip.

The real bonus was that the dishes were healthful, carefully made and beautifully presented. It is rare to dine this well and not feel the food was too rich. We will return often and refer friends.

We had the tasting menu and two of the courses were not only disappointing, they were not edible. When I asked the server to address the problem and return one of the courses to the kitchen, he offered to bring an alternative. This was completely appropriate; however when he checked on how I liked the following course and I responded that it was delicious and completely made up for the previous one, he said, "Oh good, I was expecting you to send this one back." COMPLETELY inappropriate and insulting, whether it was intended as a joke or not. We dine at fine restaurants regularly and consider ourselves Foodies. Bouley was a disappointment in both the food and service. I would not recommend the investment. Save your pennies-go to Per Se.

When I made the reservation, I mentioned that it was our anniversary and that a special table would be nice. We were given a wonderful corner table, and a special anniversary apple tart with "happy anniversary" written on the plate. The service was incredible, that best we've ever had--and the food was absolutely wonderful, the atmosphere terrific and quiet, although the place was full on a busy Saturday night. The staff pays attention to the smallest detail. Our highest recommendation!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 3/14/2008
The apple smell defnitely intrigs your senses as soon as you entered the wooden door, which reminded you of a vault. the wait staff was attentive and warm. the water glass never went empty and the introduction of each course of the tasting menu was adquate and attrative. all the courses on the tasting menu were really delicious and intrigs my taste buds except the main course, the "squab and froi gras" was rather desapppoing. The squab came raw and the froi gras was also undercooked and left a greasy after taste. Moreover, the "chef's special" also was a bit too advanturous, which inadquately married a salty soupbased sorbet with limeaid gelly. Overall, Bouley is a fabulous resturant to go to for a special occasion. I love it.

I travel to NYC to experience many things but high on the list are the restaurants. Bouley offers the best food in the city (if not the world) in my opinion and I have eaten at almost every Zagat rated 26 and above. In addition the ambiance and the service is over the top. I recently took a friend there for lunch. She is a long time NY resident who had never eaten at Bouley although she eats at many of the top restaurants in the city. It was a delight for me to see her enthusiasm at the quality of this food, the service and the decor. She also agreed with me that it is the best restaurant in which she has ever eaten in the city. I have recommended Bouley to many of my friends and business associates who are always enthralled by it.
