We came for lunch and took the 5- course tasting menu. We loved everything; really, everything. The food, the Amuse bush which was delicious, the bread (try it all!!) The service was attentive and at eye-level; we really felt like this is a kind of service that deserves a good tip. Will definitely return.

Bouley Beautiful room with the perfect decor for an afternoon. Over the top staff, who are professional, approachable and knowledgable. Unique blending and layering of flavors to intrigue and delight the senses. Leisurely paced the tasting menu so that every dish could be savored and enjoyed. Every dish and wine was perfectly paired for the full effect. Yes I would recommend Bouley to friends who love and appreciate tasting, food presentation and perfect surroundings.

Came here for lunch with friends to celebrate a birthday occasion. We decided on the tasting menu. Overall it was an amazing experience. Food was incredible and ambiance was great and the staff treated us special. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable dining experience. We go to NYC for wine spectator's wine experience. This year we chose Bouley as we had experienced his other French friends' restaurants and I was curious why he is not getting the 3rd Michelin star. The restaurant setting and food was truly 3 star, but when it came to service, a condescending table capitan who did not know how to handle the patrons' requests ruined the night! We chose our 8 course tasting menu from the ala cart menu but we wind up arguing with him about how our food should be served because in the middle of the meal, he told us that they do not split dishes in the restaurant. This was finally resolved after unnecessary back and forth with him and the maitre d'. Their white tuna and duck dishes were stand outs of the meal.

The service was a little disorganized at first, as they were asking if I wanted to choose wine before I had seen a menu. They brought the wine list and I had about 15 minutes to peruse it before they came and asked what I wanted to order, and I pointed out that I had not seen the menu yet, so then they took the wine list, and several minutes went by before they brought us menus, and even longer before they brought the wine list back. So what should have taken 10 minutes took more like 40. The food though was amazing, save for the 3 rabbit ribs which were among the greens and other items in the delicious rabbit salad- having to remove bones from your mouth not once but three times in a restaurant of this caliber is not what one expects.

Bouley exceeded my expectations on every level. I thought the food would be very good but it was amazing. Such wonderful subtle yet complex flavor & texture combinations plus generous portions for a tasting menu. The service was efficient and professional as you would expect from a fine dining restaurant, yet still very friendly and not intimidating or over done. Lunch Tasting menu is fantastic value so book early.

Every offering perfect of its kind, whether old favorites or new inventions—and then there's the bread: exquisite brioche, exciting cherry, excellent apricot walnut -- Oh, how I miss that bakery of yore!-- and service is letter perfect, as always. Rabbit and duck breast were particularly ambrosial. Memorable evening. Bouley will never go out of style with spectacular performance like this.

This is a lovely restaurant with excellent food. However, we were seated in the basement which was not reflective of the beautiful main dining room. It was very disappointing to be led through the beautiful and lively dining room down the stairs to a tomblike basement with only two other unfortunate couples.

While the room is beautiful and the service great, food was disappointing. The appetizers, both with Hudson Valley foie gras, were very good. The all-natural Pennsylvania chicken baked en cocotte was good, the white meat moist, but rather bland. The roasted veal loin was stringy and chewy. At this price, the restaurant should be able to procure top-quality meat. We gave the restaurant only a fair rating because it's the food that counts and, despite the outstanding ambiance and service, that is disappointing.

We had not been to Bouley for some time and chose it for a celebratory lunch after a special event. The experience we had was so refined and delightful that we simply did not want to leave. The service was beyond impeccable, incredibly solicitous and friendly without ever seeming too hovering or intrusive. The food was ethereal, splendidly inventive and full of flavors and tastes that continuously awed the palette. We were overjoyed by our experience and so grateful to the entire staff for a memorable dining event.

I came here for lunch with my foodie friend, both of us hoping to add Bouley to our list of Favorites. The decor was cool-entryway decorated w/fresh apples, vaulted ceilings throughout, beautiful art and furniture, even the bathroom! Service was excellent-close to 10 people taking care of us throughout the meal, from the hostess, to the waiters and servers. Our meal was nicely paced, which was a big plus as we often feel rushed. Bouley's lunch is easily the best fine dining deal in town, $55 for 5 courses (3 savory, 2 sweet)! Food was good but nothing really stood out, and some dishes disappointed (porcini flan). We left super full, and were even given extra dessert at the door. Glad we checked it out. Unfortunately, not our new Favorite.

The tasting menu was fantastic! Although it was my first time trying out a french tasting menu, it exceeded my expectations in all aspects - presentation, taste and service. My favourite was the Beef Cheek dish, it was braised for 12 hours and turned out really tender and flavourful. The home baked European bread was fresh, with a wide selection that made me hard to choose which one to try. We were also pleasantly surprised by the 3 additional complimentary dishes presented to us. Overall, it was a 5 star experience for me.

We were jet-lagged & exhausted but Bouley was a respite! The service was like watching a well choreographed ballet & although it started too fast, they soon figured out that we weren't in a hurry. The amuse bouche were lovely. A combo of strawberries & tomato ice actually worked & a truffled crisp was great. I was expecting the porcini flan to be like a chawan mushi custard, but it was more like an Asian soup with great flavors. The waitress brought us extra butter parsnip puree because we made such short work of it. My lobster with asparagus was enough for both of us - 2 large tails. Salmon with palm hearts was a disappointment because it had too much lemon zest. Bread...yum! I wish they'd open a bakery on the West coast!

The service was unparalleled and I have lived (and dined) in New York and other amazing food cities around the globe. They were warm, accommodating and made a special occasion extraordinary. The food was, simply magnificent. The lamb and the sheep's milk gnocci will make you cry tears of joy. My dining companion ate mushrooms (which he never, ever eats) and proclaimed them one of the best things he has ever eaten in his life. Carnivores, bread lovers, dessert lovers, wine snobs, foodies, lovers... you will all find something to talk about for days on end, reliving a meal like some people relive their wedding or the birth of their child. Yes, dining here IS that good.

Had a visitor from overseas who forgot to bring a jacket for his trip, and the folks were kind enough to provide a fitting jacket for the meal. Only have one request - please bring back the old-style flan. The current rendition is great, but the version that was around back several years ago was just amazing. Can't forget the first time i had them - would love to taste the flan in the metallic enclosure again!

I had not been to Bouley in a few years and was excited to return. I found the formality at bit awkward and not befitting the setting. We were a party of 5 meeting for business gathering and the host was not particularly charming and rushed us to our table rather than allowing us to enjoy cocktails in the lounge when all guests arrived. Overall, the food was very good, not exceptional as I had remembered. Service for out table was attentive and actually that pretty much made up for whatever was otherwise lacking in the experience.

Bouley is in a class by itself. The gorgeous interior, the perfect. If you get up to use the restroom, someone will be waiting to pull your chair out for you before you sit down again. Your wishes are anticipated. And of course the food! We had the lunch tasting menu - five courses, plus the amuse bouche (gazpacho reinterpreted, whipped and creamy, with a few cucumber slices and a scoop of tomato ice cream, garnished with fish ice) and a delightful intermezzo (delicious eggplant terrine topped with creamy goat cheese). The summer menu has been the same each time, but the interpretation of the dishes varies. Be sure to taste some breads, but leave room for the two desserts.
