The food was as expected, superb. We were offered glasses of champagne in honor of my birthday which it a nice touch. But I don't think i'll be back to this location. I enjoyed the open space at the JP location, and open kitchen. Also noise was a problem, as there was a group of 4 women all the way across the dinning room, whose yipping and laughing and screaming, was quite annoying. So in conculsion, Yummy. But I'll stick with Ten Tables in JP.

We went here for my boyfriend's birthday, and realized that half the restaurant was also there for someone's bday. Anyway, our waiter was very helpful, our food was delicious, and our recommended wine was perfect. The only thing I would change would be the lighting. It really was a bit dark in there. A candle on the table would have helped tremendously.

Other than the extreme noise level everything at Ten Tables Cambridge was terrific. But the noise really interfered with our dining experience. There was a very loud man at a table of generally loud patrons, so perhaps the intense noise level isn't the general experience. We did like it and would return.

The food and service were very good, as was the suggested wine. What you categorize as "energetic" in terms of noise level I would call "don't count on having a conversation," however. And, strangely what they call a tasting menu should more accurately be called chef's recommendations from the menu.

I'd heard a lot of great things about 10 Tables in J. P., but never made it there for a meal. So, I was happy to hear about their Cambridge opening. It was a really poor dining experience -- our waiter didn't greet us for over 10 minutes (even though we were there opening and one of three occupied tables), my pasta wasn't just al dente but seriously undercooked, we didn't get bread plates so our table was littered with crumbs and splatters from the meal...all of this is to say that we will not be back and I will not recommend this location. The menu also claims to be conceived around local, organic produce and I just couldn't figure out how they were able to procure local peas in March? Overall, very disappointing.

Service was very bad on a busy Sunday night. Our waiter, after FINALLY being summoned to take our order, did not know the wines and left to ask for help, but never returned. We finally asked the host to put in our order. (The wine we picked, regretably, was pretty blah - a tempranillo). A substitute for the sold out chicken dish - duck - was quite delicious. The sea bass was served too cool, returned to be warmed, and came back the same. It was a good dish but would have been better at the proper temp. The side of asparagus was divine. Our dessert was billed as a grapefruit that was topped as if a brulee but unfortunately that was not the way it came out. They need to tweak the description of the dish to more accuarately describe it.

I had heard such glowing reviews of the original JP location, and was excited that a sister restaurant opened in Cambridge. I can't say any of the hype was deserved. We had a fair/average meal, with what seemed to be fairly junior waitstaff. Overall, this was solidly ok. I wouldn't rush to go back, but wouldn't be upset to go back either.

The food and ambiance were excellent and the service was top notch. My girlfriend and I had the Chef's prepared menu of four courses (mine was veggie), and Ten Tables was nice enough to offer us wine pairings when we inquired. I had a Winter green salad (incredible dressing), Fennel Soup (very tasty) and the Cavatelli Pasta (with peas and a healthy seasoning of black pepper). Talked to the Chef after the meal, which was excellent! Will definitely return (after I check out the original Ten Tables in JP).

The food was excellent and the portions were perfect. Not too large, but substantial enough so that you felt full. The waiter was bit inattentive early on, but he got better as the meal progressed. My two complaints are that the restaurant is extremely noisy and the table we were seated at was on the small side for a party of four.

After years of loving 10 Tables in JP, I was so excited to have its 'sister' in Cambridge, closer to my home. I was a bit disappointed though. The food was good, but in my opinion, not as great as the food in JP. Duck wasn't so good. Chicken and scallops were very good. Creme caramel OK but not great. I'll probably venture back to JP next time I'm craving a meal at 10 Tables. Nice atmosphere. Very good service. A B+ vs. an A.

Run, don't walk, to the second Ten Tables now open in Cambridge. The food is fantastic and try the tasting menu. The salad we had was outstanding. We then had scallops which were some of the best I have had. Followed by steak cooked perfectly and a chocolate dessert topped with ice cream that had a hint of basil - to die for! I love the original Ten Tables, but I think the new Ten Tables is even better. The ambience is cozy and welcoming without being cramped. The service was attentive and it is nice to see the owner greeting guests as they arrive. I am already planning my next visit and have emailed all of my friends and family in Boston that they need to make a reservation and treat themselves.

My wife and I had been to Ten Tables Jamaica Plains many times, trekking all the way from Lexington by public transportation, so we already had a high regard. However, our first visit to Ten Tables Cambridge was excellent beyond expectations. The food, wine, ambiance and service all meshed into a fine experience. With twenty tables, the name really should be Ten Times Two Tables, but the new restaurant maintains the cozy feel of the original, with warm relaxing colors. Foodies (like us) should love the menu. For example, in the housemade boudin blanc with Hudson Valley duck confit, mustard cream lentils, endive and apple, the meats contrasted beautifully with the cream underlying lentil mix. Superb! We opted for the tasting menu and were treated to four courses of innovative, delicious and beautifully presented combinations of flavors and ingredients. Our waiter was extremely well informed and introduced each item with an enlightening description! He educated us about the wine pairings as well. Service was attentive, not overbearing and they graciously made adjustments for one member of our party who could not have two specific ingredients. All in all a wonderful dining experience. I had been recommended Ten Tables in JP & was excited to try the Cambridge branch. Our party of four had either the Bavette steak (cooked perfectly and excellent with the Pommes Gratin side) or the Monkfish stew (rather salty side, but overall still good). Our server seemed a bit confused and distracted - he brought us the wrong wine, & needed to come back to the table to ask a which entrees we had each wanted. The restaurant is very cozy, but being essentially in a cellar makes it very loud - I could hardly hear the person I was sitting across from, & I'm sure the restaurant does not intend to be so boisterous. Overall, the food was very good (and a bit less than other comparable places) but the service & ambiance weren't great.

I expected much more from this new restaurant so was disappointed-- on two levels. One, the ambiance was nothing like the old CSB. The welcome was non-existent and the service was tentative. The old CSB staff were all gracious, knowledgeable, and very competent. Two, the food was underwhelming. Two of us are vegetarians and we ordered the tasting menus but there was nothing of interest there. A salad that was on the menu, a soup served without the ham, and the pasta that was on the menu. These were the only veg choices via the a la carte menu or the tasting menu. Our meat eating friend's tasing menu was OK but nothing inspired. So, how about some more options for vegetarians? I know we don't live on the west coast, but it is 2009!

A second two top arrived and was seated right next to us. Only one other table was occupied during our meal. The proximity of another party was not pleasant. We asked about the seating rationale and did not receive a very convincing answer. Something about larger parties later. They need to work on that.

I have known Ten Tables in JP for many years, and have always had great food, interesting wines and good service. The Cambridge venue does not disappoint. They have done a great job with the decor; it has an intimate inviting atmosphere. We had a spiced steak tartare and lamb sausage as appetizers. The steak tartare was delicious, with just the right zing to it. The lamb sausage was unusual and delicious. Main courses included: seared scallops (excellent), monk fish stew (excellent) and braised chicken breast. The chicken was well spiced although slightly overcooked. The dessert, a chocolate terrine with basic ice cream was amazing. The chocolate was rich with a wonderful texture and the ice cream an excellent complement.

We waited almost an hour for our entre - and the waiters explanation that they had a "large" table for 10 ppl booked that night was unsatisfactory. I felt that if they'd booked the large table - it was up to them to ensure that the service did not suffer. Given the many other excellent restaurants in Boston - unlikely to return.
