We have gone there for years and have never been disappointed - the food, the ambience, the attention to detail are amazing. Seattle is a funny place - good food - lousy view, or lousy food good view. Maximilliens is an delightful exception to this - no where else can one appreciate a glorious and active water view from all the tables and enjoy an evening of subtle elegance

Excellent food, very romantic and laid-back setting, and the service was great! I went with some friends who have lived in Paris and they really enjoyed the food as well. Overall, we had nothing to complain about.

A rather ordinary, but OK French restaurant--perhaps best described as a bistro. The escargot struck me as inferior, the lamb shank average, the desert excellent. The wine list was limited and moderately expensive.

I was nervous about bringing my 12-yr old son with me to celebrate my boyfriend's 40th birthday, but it all turned out great. My son actually displayed great appreciation for the food, and then next night when we were celebrating at home with relatives, he loved keeping my wine glass filled all night. Oh, and my boyfriend loved it too.

Very delicious main entrees, good although not outstanding french onion soup, delectable escargot, excellent flourless chocolate cake and grand marinier souffle. Oh so tasty french sauces with the lamb shank and the sea bass. All this at reasonable prices! Would be great for outdoor dining if the weather ever warms up.

Second time in a row, we had a lovely experience at this restaurant-- the servers are simply outstanding, they seem to strike the perfect balance between providing opinions when we asked for them but letting us enjoy the entire experience otherwise. They seem to be very professional but yet warm and welcoming. The French Onion soup is heavenly.

Great view. Waiter forgot the mussels we ordered. Went for the 3 courses for $30 menu, and got a different dessert than advertised. Sign at entrance said "refrain from using your cell phones", so my companion and I kept ours off the whole time. However, the woman at the next table talked on her cell phone the entire meal (no kidding) with no request from staff to "refrain". The music was, I have to say, pretty bad, until they finally started playing Edith Piaf (prior to that it sounded very Celine Dion-ish, difficult (almost comical) to eat to. Great view and lighting, though. Would only recommend it for the view. Thank you.

Non-pretentious yet elegant. Wonderful seasonal menu and fantastic 'themed' nights (Normandie Dinner, Beaujolais Nouvou). Magnificent view and top notch service. Attention to detail. Classic technique with fresh local ingredients. Consistent execution of the menu. If I were going to open a restaurant, it would be Maximilien.

The best hideaway in Pike Place Market! Wonderful food and excellent service - contrary to the "French people are rude" stereotype. I've never had a bad meal at Maximilien's and know that I never will. And to top it off the $9/glass champagne they offer rivals even the most pricey. Their duck is to die for and the French onion soup is devine. Anytime is a great time to go there.

Our waiter was very knowlegable about the wine list and gave spot on chocies for our appetizers and entres. The overall service was "just right"-not intrusive but very attentive. The decor is very simple and allows the diner to focus on the outstanding views and good food. We have been to this restaurant a number of times and will certainly be going back.

The restaurant's food was superb. I had a brandied wild cherry pork tenderloin which was heaven on a plate. I am on a reduce calorie diet and it was the perfect dish, it was served with spaghetti squash which is so on my diet. Other higher calorie menu items were available. Waiters were a bit snooty but attentive but miss heard one of our dessert choices. A little disappointing but overall was a very pleasant experience.

The food was fantastic. I suggest you ask for any house specialties. Also, we were given great suggestions for wine pairings. The French Onion soup was out of this world. If you like Creme Brulee, this was one of the best I've had; very smooth at the perfect temperature and the carmelized sugar on top was executed perfectly. The service was a little slow because we had to somewhere to be after dinner. But if you schedule a couple hours the pacing would be great.

I treated my staff to lunch to celebrate the completion of a difficult time of year for us. Our reservations made on the internet were honored. The waiter was delightful. The food was fabulous. We ordered a bottle of wine with lunch. I especially loved that the waiter kept our wine chilled in between the times he filled up our glasses. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2006
    Dined on 2/14/2009
The food/dessert in this 5 course meal with wine flight was good, not great. The service was also good but not great. They overbooked though, as we got our table over 30 minutes after the reservation time. They also had us crammed in like sardines, but I can see why when I saw what it meant by "special" Valentines Day menu. $265 later ordering the only thing on the menu, and I couldn't help but think I wish I had gone elsewhere. Spending this kind of money, I would really expect the highest level of service an establishment could provide, and that wasn't the case. I'm sure it was stressful for the wait staff being so crowded, but I'm sure with the cost, they were compensated. We had fun though, so I guess that counts for something.

Valentine's Day was a secial evening at Maximilien's. The view of Elliot Bay was breathtaking. The prix-fixe menu was delightful. We enjoyed the incredible sauces, soup and pork tenderloin immensely. The coquille St.Jacques was tender and the sauce was simply amazing. We enjoyed several dinners and brunches at Maximiliens and this memorable evening was no exception. It was a trip to France without leaving Elliot Bay.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2005

If I could give service 0 stars I would. First of all, it was not made clear that on Valentine's Day ONLY the fixed menu was available. There was no choice at all of wine or food. Okay, I'll give kudos to the chef that the flavours were absolutely amazing, only we had no idea what we were eating because our food was simply plopped onto our table with no explanation whatsoever. No idea what the wine was either, but I did have to send two glasses of red back because they were absolutely vinegar-ized. Besides the nice scallops, there was nothing extravagant. Pork chop as main course?! For $100 a head, I expect much more. Ingredients were simply cheap. Meal was worth $35 a head TOPS. Let this be known this my first restaurant review. That bad.

I brought my girlfriend to Maximilien for Valentine's Day with the expectation that they would offer great food, romantic ambiance, and an exceptional view in exchange for the $250 spend. The view and ambiance might have been decent if we weren't seated in the aisle behind the reception desk, out of sight of the windows and filled with bustling servers and patrons. The 5 course meal wasn't note worthy, and was occasionally bland. The timing was completely off. Plates were forced onto the table while we hurriedly tried to finish previous plates. The restaurant was mediocre at best.
