We always wanted to dine at Mirabelle and was not disappointed! The food was great and the service was attentive. We felt that for this type of restaurant, Mirabelle was priced appropriately. We would recommend the restaurant and would go back again.

Food is creative unique and delicous! However service is definietly not on par with the prices and/or menu. Restaurant decor is bland and undefined, flatware, plates and glasses unmatched, even the table top wobbled so badly we were unable to cut our food without sending our drinks flying. Menu aside there are no special touches here, only about a dozen tables and many are undesirable. Even with a reservation we received a tiny little table in the middle of the room, kind of in the hallway/foyer (very uncomfortable). Two appetizers, two dinners, split a moderate bottle of wine and dessert...$250 and left a bit hungry. For that kind of $ expected much more.

One of the nicest Easter dinners I've had in a while. Food was delish. While the dining room was 'kid friendly' it was also quiet enough for a romantic dinner. I will certainly be back_soon.

Other than waiting for over thirty minutes past our reservation for our table, the service was very good. There were always at least two wait people attending our table. The food was good but I would only suggest it to those who appreciate french food. After all it is a french restaurant.

While EVERYTHING was wonderful about our dinner experience, the only negative was the size of my meal. I ordered a pasta dish and it amounted to about 7 or 8 little tortellini sized pieces. I'm not a big eater, but I was still hungry after the meal. It was a $28 dish. My friends' meals had more to them, so they were satisfied. Also, we're intelligent, educated women ( all 3 have Master's degrees ) but we had a difficult time interpreting the menu and needed help from the staff ( what's branzino? agnolotti? porchetta? ) I feel the menu could have been a bit more informative .

This is undoubtedly one of the very best restaurant's on all of Long Island. Unlike many Manhattan based French restaurants that can make you feel you are in Paris, Mirabelle makes you feel you at an elegant restaurant gastronomique in the French countryside - both in food and in ambiance. The staff is always there to help while never getting in the way.

If you would like to have a great dining experience in a lovely, elegant setting you should try this restaurant. I had the peanut-crusted cod over a New England style clam chowder that was probably the best fish dish that I have ever had. My wife had the Mirabelle duck, which was served in two portions. The first was the breast, sliced, with a delicious cranberry sauce. The second portion was the leg along with a tasty duck confit. The servers were friendly, attentive, and very helpful with the menu. We expect to visit this restaurant often in the future.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

The food was not the same as the old Mirable in St James. The Mirabelle duck was sliced in chunks instead of thin slices and it was bland (no decernable sauce like orange or cherry) The souffle was watery. Also the wait for the food to come to the table was horrendous. We were in the restaurant for 2 1/2 hours. To bad they moved from St James.

  • Mirabelle, Still Long Island's Best
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 11/11/2011
Still the best French restaurant on Long Island, though in each course, there was something slightly awry with the dish. For example, the foie gras was fabulous, and the accompanying bacon and pickled cabbage was delicious. But the apple chunks were meely and tasteless, undermining what would otherwise have been a spectacular dish. The desserts were visually nice, but far too sweet. Double up on the starter and don't waste space on the dessert.

I had a caesar salad with a delicious dressing but a soft boiled egg cutin half that was runny and three small whole anchovies with the skin on were not at all appetizing.Instead of the listed croutons was a slice of the bread that was served with dinner toasted and stuck in the side of the salad. The entree was a caramelized cod and root vegetables. I would be embarrased to serve this to company. The cod was the size of a small pancake surrounded by cubes of squash and a swirl of creamed spinach. The cod was greasy.I would expect from Mirabelle. The service was good. And oh,the menu we first received included red or white wine, and coffee or tea. The waitress had given us the wrong menu and this wasn't included.

My Husband & I had dinner here the first night of restaurant week so maybe that contributed to our less than stellar experience. The dining room is tastefully decorated but very bright. The tables for two were too close together, and the timing of the service was way off. We had 3 or 4 servers ask for our order before our drinks even arrived. Our dinners came out before our $95 bottle of wine, And although the entrees were very good, they were luke warm. The staff was friendly but seemed very disorganized. We used to love the "old" Mirabelle so we will probably give this one another try on a normal night.

We had another incredible meal, in fact, the quail with orzo and cherries was probably one of my favorite meals ever! Very attentive, friendly staff -- the chef hung up my coat! It was warm and welcoming. The music selection was better, but I am always astounded by groups that sit down and talk so loudly that everyone else has to listen to their coversation! What a surprise! We have been to Mirabelle prior to the move out to the Three Vilage Inn. Always enjoyed everything about the restaurant. And so, we were looking forward to our evening out in Stony Brook. I must say something about my onion soup. There was NO CHEESE on top melting over the sides. The server first placed some sauteed onions in the bottom of the bowl. Then he poured a jellied substance on top. That was the soup which tasted like beef boillon at best, not enjoyable at all. The entrees were not delicious as we have come to expect from Guy Rouge. And at the end of the mea, no coffee/tea was offered, just our check. Something was amiss there. I hope it was just the evening.
