We had a delightful dinner at Cobalt, with one misstep from our server. The view of the ocean and upscale atmosphere are reasons to dine here, but the food makes it. The local snapper with creamy grits and bacon was superb. The swordfish with black beans was also good, although not quite as inventive as the snapper. Salads were good, although sparse for the price. German chocolate cake was so-so. But what really stands out here is the view of the ocean (ask for a window table, if possible) and the generally good service. That said, our server made one huge mistake that marred the evening. Our side order of truffle fries arrived after we had finished our entrees, with no apologies or even a question if we still wanted them.

Fire the chief. All food has no taste. Ice cream not taste As a homemade. Terrible parking rules, even for person with disability - valet or park elsewhere even if a special parkin space for disabilities vacant ( valet parking attendant don't give as opportunity to park our car on the parking space for persons with disabilities). Manager of duty in the hotel on the desk don't help us to solve this problem- shame for the hotel!

This was just the type of place I was looking for. Upscale food that was delicious, romantic seating were I could sit close to my girl friend. The wait staff was helpful, friendly and unobtrusive. The interior was decorated very well and the windows looked out at the ocean and deck. Even the live music from the bar was great. Not so loud that we could not easily talk over dinner. It was raining so the valet parking was very convenient.

  • The restaurant is beautiful
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 2/9/2013
The restaurant is beautiful however the service and food left much to be desired. The silverware was constantly being cleared but not replaced. The truffle fries were drizzled with a garlic aioli. This was a dissapointment since it was not mentioned on the menu. Their speciality the short rib was served cold and was dry. The bananas on the bread pudding were like rubber. In defense of the restaurant, they did comp the dessert and they did bring out another truffle fries appetizer without the mayo. They also brought out another short rib- this time warm. However, the food was just ok. At least the ambience was nice.

Right on the water at the Kimpton. We were staying there and did not want to venture far on the first night. Food was good and service was attentive. Whatever shortfalls that there may have been were made up by the fact that you are on the beach. We were originally seated at an indoor table, but were moved outdoors upon our request. Skip the overpriced specialty drinks - although ours were free courtesy of hotel coupons. I would not have paid for my drink. We also ate breakfast both mornings and two lunches. Again, hard to beat sitting by the beach on a 72 degree and clear day, although salads and wind don't mix. We were there for our 25th anniversary and it was a romantic setting for us.

  • Why use an opentable reservation?
    PattiInFlorida
    Dined on 1/27/2013
My only complaint is that even though we had an open table reservations, we were told we would have to wait to be seated as there were a few tables that just opened up and the hostess was going to to seat those waiting ahead of us. While we walked around outside to enjoy the view while we waited, we saw a table that was already set with menus, etc. ready for two, and surprisingly after she set the other two tables, she came to get us and seat us exactly at that table for two which was already set for us, so not sure why we were waiting....? And then what was the point of our open table reservation?

I met a friend at Cobalt for lunch on Saturday and it was the perfect place to catch up. We were lucky to be given a table outside with the most beautiful view of the sea. The sun was shining and everyonewas smiling. My guest ordered the veggie burger with sweet potato fries and said it was perfect and I had the lobster roll with a cucumber and avocado salad which was delicious and a perfect choice for the setting. We sat for almost four hours catching up and the staff were wonderful. I will definitely go back if my travels bring me to Vero beach a name.

We dined there on new years, getting a reservation thru open table after calling the restaurant directly and being infirmed no tables were available. There was a $80 prix fix menu. Our reservation was for 6:15, so we knew they needed the table for a later booking. Felt a little rushed, but when youre spending $80 pp, shouldnt feel rushed. The one oyster that began the meal was a little too sweet. Oysters dont need sugar to taste good. Most if the food was very good and the filet was excellent, but the foi gras pate (terrine) was ice cold and therefore had no flavor. It also smelled a little like cat food. It was inedible. I took mine apart to try to find the actual foi gras but couldny see it. we spent well over $400 for 4 persons.

We thought the $80.00 per person cover was exhorbitant, even for New Year's Eve, especially since we do not drink champagne. The food was very good, the service in between courses was a little slow, the waiter was very nice and accomodating, as were all the other employees we encountered. We loved the location, the view, the atmosphere. We're going again for dinner with relatives and hope the prices are not that ridiculous again!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2012

I would recommend this restaurant from past experiences not this one. We had requested a window table when we made our advanced reservation and when we arrived the party before us who did not have a reservation were seated at the last window table. We were able to move during our service once a window table left but that is always awkward. One of our meals was wrong and one was brought out late. We normally truly enjoy Cobalt but this was not the case for this meal. The service in the past has been excellent but was functional at best on ths occasion. We will try it again and hope this was just a bad day for them.

Reservations were a breeze made online. When we showed up at the restaurant, they were prepared for us and sat us at a window table that would have had a lovely view were it during the day. The service was excellent, as was the food. The only disappointment was the oyster appetizer (3 microscopic oysters for $9.00) but we were told that was the type of oyster (kimodo?). They tasted fine though. Grouper was fresh and cooked to perfection as was the Snapper. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
