The Primi Piatti captures the feeling and quality of restaurants that we have visited in Rome, Venice and Florence. The menu is excellent and the food presentation was excellent. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Wine service was top quality. It is our most favorite restaurant in DC.

  • I used to hear rave reviews

I used to hear rave reviews about Primi Piatti - ten years or so ago it was all the rage. Today, it's just a good Italian restaurant -- in the league of good. Not great. We had the salami mixed plate and the oysters appetizer. The salami mix was just that - slices of fresh salami, prociutto and ham - no little sauces or mixes or cheese to grace the plate. The oysters could have been frozen or non-existent...couldn't tell because the breading was so very heavy handed. My main course was spaghetti with mussels -- the mussels shells were broken, and had landed in the meat and pasta. It made things awkward and crunchy. Yuck. My date's pasta was duck and portobello mushrooms - dry but tasty. Service was average - ok, but won't go back

  • Very mediocre, tomato soup

Very mediocre, tomato soup was good, I had Red Snapper that was ok with a tomato and caper sauce with potatoes and spinach, the potatoes tasted as if they were out of a box and the spinach was boiled. My dinning partner had Salmon with the same spinach, his comment on the salmon was that the same salmon slices from Costco actually was better. Not what I expect from a restaurant with these prices, $ 130.00 for two with no alcohol
