Though the restaurant is still going through some growing pains (they didn't seem very well equipped to handle the large crowd that was there), the food is really delicious. I think that, given a bit more time, everything will fall into place and the restaurant will be really top-notch.

I realize this restaurant has been open a short time and will make changes. The noise level was high enough to be annoying. Also the tables were jammed to close together. When a party of 4 was seated next to us, a party of 2, my dining partner was trapped in a corner. A different table configuration is needed. I would try A la Maison again in a few months.

We were there for Sunday brunch and enjoyed excellent salads, grilled salmon, and omelettes. The servers were warm and friendly but we found the ambience a little barn-like and noisy. Not buzzy noisy like a bistro in Paris, just bare-floors-and-tables noisy. The dinner menu looked appealing and we plan to try it soon.

After a few glitches (waiting for a table, service delays and food coming really late) it was understandable since it has only been open for a couple weeks. This place is really loud so if you're looking for a quiet dinner be careful. Food was good when it finally arrived. But it is nice to have another BYO in the neighborhood.

When A la Maison was having their soft opening a few weeks back I ran into the owner who told me about their full menu which would be available after Jan. 13. I was also told they would have several vegetarian entrees. I went on Jan 17 and they still did not have their full menu and no vegetarian entrees. They attempted to seat me near the front door (the worst possible table) even though I had made the reservation 2 weeks prior. The service was horrible and chefs were unaccommodating to requests saying they were too busy to accommodate a vegetarian. I suppose they are inexperienced because at any good restaurant a request would have been granted. You had vegetables and crepes- take the hint. Its also VERY loud.

The place is well decorated and had a nice atmosphere. We had a reservation on Sat. night and were dissapointed to be sat next to front door on the coldest night and in the bar area, I feel like you don't get to experience the true restaurant there. They had no fish of the day, were out of short ribs and our server could not answer any questions we had, nor open wine. Food was ok, would try again but after giving them some time to work out the kinks!

The food was good. Short ribs are excellent as well as the duck breast. Apps were spot on and this was after dining there on two occassions within the first few weeks of opening. The service leaves a little bit to be desired - it was not way off - just needs to be polished a bit. On the second visit our waitress disappeared and all of suddent someone else was tending to us. Not a huge deal but then the first server returned - somewhat baffling as we thought they were playing musical servers. The bus buy attempted to remove our silverware and bread/bread plates 2 minutes after we were seated. He may have thought we were ending our meal rather than starting??? A very nice byo in ardmore sure to drag a few folks away from other byos.

I think they still have a few kinks to work out--service was terrible. We waited over twenty five minutes for our appetizers, and others who ordered after us were served. The waiter apologized by saying that other servers had given our order away (as if that was a valid excuse); my companion's entree arrived and I waited an additonal ten minutes for mine (same excuse from waiter, too) Food was inconsistent: great onion soup, good salad with goat cheese tart. Mussels were fresh, but sauce was not flavorful and the coq au vin was awful--dry,overcooked and with a flavorless sauce. I could only eat a few bites. I might go back for a soup and salad lunch, but that's it. Lovely atmosphere and decor--very much like a genuine bistro.

It was good...a little rough on service, but it's their first week open. They only had a limited menu until end of this week. I will certainly go back for another try when full menue is offered. The one down side is that the noise level is unbelievable, way too loud! They need to do something about that!

the service was poor. for example, we did not get utensils until we asked for them. I ordered soup and there was no soup spoon. the staff was pleasant and the food was OK although fairly expensive for the ambience and location. the noise level was intolerable. we couldn't hear ourselves talk.

Staff is inexperienced and needs further training.Server barely came by to see how we were doing.Manager seems inexperienced and not customer service oriented. Our table of 4 asked for bread 3x before it came and were disappointed in small basket of tiny pieces of bread. The appetizer-vegetable napolean and berry crepe dessert were good with nice presentation. However, the main courses were very disappointing with no plate presentation at all. Boeuf Short Rib Bourgiugnon was greasy, steak was just OK,roasted Salmon, although fresh, was bland and ordinary. The restaurant was very noisy and it was difficult to hear and have a conversation. If you want to have dinner at a good BYOB in the neighborhood-go to Sola or Theresa's.

We were excited to try this new restaurant and we were not disappointed! Our first courses of the onion and goat cheese chart and the escargot were absolutely delicious as were our steak entrees (one steak frites and one steak diane). A lovely crepe with fresh berries and two cafe au lait completed the meal. Overall, I give A La Maison an A and I will definitely be back. Great service, great lighting, attentive staff, delicious food, what more could you ask for? Ardmore needed a place like this.

À la Maison very nicely captures the atmosphere of a French country bistro, both in decor and menu. Leaning to standard French comfort food, the dishes are very well executed, nicely presented, and the portions are ample but not overpowering. The fact that it's a BYO is a big plus especially for those wine lovers who may have interesting cellar selections at hand. A great meal for a reasonable price. A terrific addition to the Main Line it will surely become a neighborhood favorite for those who want something different from Italian, Asian or pub food.
