Wonderful food, outstanding service and great ambience.....special live French music.....as good as any French food I've had in New York (including Les Halles)....a little on the expensive side, but certainly more than worth it.....if you love good French food and a full menu, you'll love this place

We arrived and they had set us up right in front of the Jazz group (fine for me). We sipped our wine waiting for the other two couples. When our friends arrived, they wanted a different table where we could talk more and they accommodated our change graciously. Our Canadian friends enjoyed the food as much as we did and we ended up talking and sharing until we closed the restaurant. All in all, we had a lovely evening.

The ambience of the restaurant was nice. Mellow lighting and warm colors. The food was disappointing. The French Onion soup was served with the cheese burned. The Chicken was about a minute and a half over-cooked, though still tasty. The profiteroles were very good. The service throughout was spotty. I had the feeling our waitress had too many tables to serve.

As a duck lover, I know of what I speak...The duck was overcooked (tho I had requested "medium rare" as any good duck should be). It was also tough and not succulent. We were charged extra for switching our vegetables even tho I cannot eat swiss chard and my husband cannot eat sweet potatoes which come w/the duck. At $30+ a platter, I must say that is appalling!!! Has the restaurant changed chefs on a Monday night? Perhaps that was the problem. The onion soup is good. The profiteroles also, but the duck...forget it!!! I don't know if we shall return to this restaurant soon, even tho we have gone there frequently in the past and it is conveniently located for us. Service is friendly and quite good. Shame the food is not.

A great BYOB. Everything we've ever had has been great. From their delicious crusty baguette and homemade ketchup with French fries to the mushroom risotto. You can have a light delicious salad, a sandwich, or a lovely entree. They are versatile and everything is great. Wonderful and pleasant staff as well.

We are at A la Maison Bistro on a Friday evening and really enjoyed it. The food was wonderful! The duck gets 5 stars and the salmon 4. The duck pate and cheeses were also wonderful! Our server was friendly but not too intrusive. The ambience was great for a Friday night dinner. What I loved is that despite having such excellent French food, the environment did not feel pretentious at all. We would definitely return and recommend the restaurant to friends.

Popped in for an amazing business lunch on Wednesday. If you miss ordering the crepes then you miss out on some of the best French presentation the Main Line has to offer. Quite simply - the rich and indulgent food, exceptionally considerate service, and terrific execution from the kitchen team you would expect in a fine French bistro. Finding it on the Main Line ... even better!

4 of us had dinner on a Friday night and 3 out of the 4 found the food to be good and mine, the brook trout, was excellent. The others had the beef bourguignon and chicken cordon bleu. One in our party ordered a salad in addition to his entree but the salad never arrived. When informed at the conclusion of our entrees, the waitress brought a free dessert which was a nice thing to do, but what happened to that salad. Overall the noise level is much better than it used to be and the place is quite charming with quite decent food, some of which is outstanding.

A la Maison is a great concept in a great location and space -- a charming French bistro amid the shops of Ardmore, offering fine French cuisine. Unfortunately, I always leave there a bit disappointed, and Valentine's Day was no exception. The food was fine, but the service was horrid. The waiter -- when he bothered to stop by -- always seemed rushed and disinterested in us or the food, and had no ability to pronounce the French offerings, putting in doubt the authenticity of the entire affair. Only at the end of the meal, when we asked, were we told of the complimentary champagne and wine, which were part of the fixed price menu (which no one told us about when we made the reservation). We were offered the same amuse buche (sp?) twice

We went for the cassoulet that is served every Tuesday during the cold winter months. It was delicious as was the pear and goat cheese tart and the mousse truffle appetizers. All pastries are prepared on site and the cheesecake, unusual for a French restaurant, was to die for. Being a BYOB, the entire magnificent meal was very reasonable. The decor is a comfortable country French that is not overdone. I have already recommended it to several friends and we will definitely return.
