  • This will be the tenth time
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 9/27/2008
This will be the tenth time my husband and I have been to Cuistot and one or both of us always leave disappointed with the food in the main dining room (there is overlap with the main and bar menus and we have found the bar menu to be, on the whole, superior to the remainder of the main menu). So why do we continue to come back? Well, we probably won't...after ten times, you really have given the restaurant the opportunity to perform. And it's such a shame, too... the venue is so very well done, the service is quite good BUT, and it's a big but, the majority of the food is just so-so. So when you pair the food with the prices, you do not have a great value.

Had the five course special menu and it was out of this world! This restaurant knows how its done and puts most others to shame with its fine attention to detail in both the quality of its service and the presentation of the food. We've dined here five or six times over the years and each was a great experience. The menu items are varied and any diner should find something to tempt. Great selection of wines. Options to dine in the fireplace room, outside on the patio (in the fall) or in a room where you're separated by a glass wall that lets you see into their superb kitchen.

  • They have a nice 'double menu'
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007VIP
    Dined on 6/20/2008
They have a nice 'double menu' with both classics and modern. A great alternative that my club offers but is found less frequently in restaurants. Escargot was good but short of the spectacular classic I was hoping for. The entrees made up for that and the waitstaff was constantly but discretely scanning for clientele that had a need. The service was a refreshing change from restaurants where waiters assiduously avoid eye contact or constantly interrupt to ask if you need anything. A wonderful and relaxing dinner.

We had one of the "Regions of France" price fixed dinners at Cuistot. Dinner was very fairly priced for value received. We had the "Alsace Lorraine" dinner and we thought it was excellent. We also shared an escargot appetizer beforehand and enjoyed it as well. Service was prompt but not intrusive, the perfect mix of being there when needed but not hovering. We've been to Cuistot before, several times, and look forward to going back.

An elegant restaurant restaurant with very good food, service, and wine list in a beautiful setting. Appetizers were delicious, but one not exactly as described on the menu. The diver scallop was missing the puff pastry. Our main courses were exquisite - rack of lamb and duck with superb vegetable accompaniments. The appetizer and main course menu is divided into "classics" and lighter cuisine. The floating islands dessert was delicious and oversized, would be great to share. Nice cheese course option for dessert. The restaurant is not readliy visible from Rt. 111, the entrance is from El Paseo. There is a separate room avaialble for groups.

We had anticipated this meal, but was disappointed. The food was not as good as we expected and the service was very slow. OpenTable Diner Since 2005VIP
    Dined on 4/4/2008
Cuistot is one of the top 5 restaurants in the desert. Lunch on Friday is also "fashion show" day, with models visiting the tables to tell about the stores on El Paseo. This isn't a day when the business managers get together at a table; there were many tables of well-dressed women, but no tables of just men. There are two large, spacious rooms plus a patio for dining when the temperature (and wind) allow. In the desert, Cuistot stands out, but it would have to do better in Los Angeles. The food is good, but not memorable or exceptional. Few city restaurants, however, have such space and comfortable acoustics.

This restaurant came very highly recommended to me. While the food was enjoyable, the servers were short staffed-only 1 server for a minimum of 12 tables-poor man was running around like a chicken with his head cut off. No explanation of this was provided until we inquired. No member of management was to be seen, who you would expect to be seen circulating the dining room apologizing for the inconvenience. Not inclined to return/recommend given the deficiency in service. One would expect superior service given the price point of the restaurant.

Having been to Cuistot when it was tucked away from the main drag, we expected the posh new restaurant to enhance the exquisite cuisine we had remembered. Unfortunately, our experience was memorable, but for the wrong reasons. Service was appallingly bad; our waiter coudn't understand English well enough to understand "dairy allergy", and even though that information was with the reservation, the staff didn't acknowledge it or try to accommodate it. What a disappointment.
