Even though we had read the reviews, we were still surprised and amazed by the quality, complexity, and deliciousness of the sushi. We were so overwhelmed by the menu that we decided to do the omakase menu and let the chef decide for us. We are so glad we did. Every single dish made our jaws drop. We were so impressed that we canceled our dinner plans elsewhere 2 days later so we can go again before we leave Boston.

I came with my husband to try O Ya because we had a gift certifcate that my sister had given to us - and she highly recommended this place. Although O Ya was probably the priciest sushi place I've ever been to, their sushi is definately worth trying! I wouldn't necessarily come back on a regular basis, but for special occasions. This tiny place has a very intimate setting - even when seated at the sushi bar counter. It was very interesting to see your sushi being prepped and made right before your eyes. The wait staff and hostesses' services was very professional and helpful. Our waitress was kind enough to give a rundown of their menu. The staff was very attentive to our needs. It was a great experience!

Very expensive, but a very memorable experience. The flavors and combinations are extraordinary, unique and very memorable. The foie Gras = Amazing. Mildly dissapointed with the tempora shrimp. As per their theme)each dish consists of only a few pieces of sushi, we underwent 16 courses + shared a single 'bite' of delicious desert and had homemade chocolates. The bill total after 20% tip was 350ish. I must say, never in my life have I left a restaurant still hungry, but SO satisfied with the experience that I didn't care for more food. I must emphasize, this is a VERY special occasion eatery and simply understand that it's small tasting dining and judge whether or not it is worth it for you. We will return!

We had a wonderful experience at O Ya. It is a small very welcoming spot with a menu that absolutely blew us away. We decided to do the chef's grand tasting experience. This was probably the most expensive meal I have ever had but also the most interesting. We had some dietary preferences that the staff easily accomodated and substituted wondeful items. This was the most interesting sushi I have ever had. The flavor combinations and presentation were outstanding. The chefs were happy to interact with us and explain the dishes as well as answer questions. The sushi bar experience was one that is hard to find in Boston. We interacted with our neighbors and had a wonderful evening. I just wish I could afford to go here more often!

A very, very good meal. They clearly choose the very best ingredients and have inventive twists on bringing out the flavor of the fish. However, there are slight flaws in execution: a questionable wine pairing, a few items in the omakase that were either bad or too salty. These things shouldn't happen when a restaurant charges so much (about $400/person in our case). In some items, the flavor of the sauce/toppings totally overpower that of the fish (or the main vegetable). They can get away with charging this much in Boston, but in NYC there are comparable restaurants where you can dine for half the price. It's not a restaurant to return to very often. I went for the second time in two years and found myself slightly bored with the menu.

A highly upscale restaurant set in the center of the Financial District. Service is exceptional. All the staff were great! More than ready to answer our questions about the menu and are totally aware of every item! Would recommend it for the very special occasions because of the pricey aspect. The best part is the way they would accommodate customization in the food just so that you could sit back and enjoy your experience! Like, all my orders of Sashimi and nigiri have been cooked per request. Definite must-try for the Sushi lovers!

We started the evening on shaky ground. I arrived to a very tiny room with a bunch of open seats but had to wait until the servers could figure out where to put us. However everything went straight up from there. The food was incredible. The wine pairing our waiter suggested was out of this world. The only drawback is the price. We have eaten all over the world, in many expensive restaurants. This however was slightly over the top. Over $400 and not feeling incredibly full. However the tastes were beyond imaginable. I would only suggest this restaurant for a very special occasion. If you go, sit back, enjoy, and forget about what the bill will be.

The first time was so good that we went back again! I'm a lucky girl. This time we picked our own menu -- even the shorter omakase was just too much last time. This time round we thought the nigiri and sashimi sections are way better -- zingier, more inventive, elegant -- than the rest. Some of the non-fish things were trying too hard: the daikon dumplings were over-decorated and without much taste. But some standout sashimi: diver scallops with sage tempura, arctic char, all exquisite, memorable dishes. An upgrade of the wine list is sorely needed: it's much too short and not very inventive. It could use some half-bottles to enable people to mix up their choices, ideal over a long meal. There should be a champagne by the glass.

May be Boston's only world class restaurant. Everything you'd expect at this price point. Food exquisite. Presentation immaculate. Service casual, knowledgeable and always ready. Owners present, welcoming and available but not pushy. We've eaten at El Bulli, Taillevent, Tetsuya, Per Se. ... this is easily their equal. Chef trained at Nobu but this leaves it for dead. We ate here two nights ago and went to No 9 Park last night...according to the reviews here a restaurant of equivalent quality. Not on the same planet. If, like us, you're willing to travel to eat the best O Ya must go on your list.
