We go to Hamptons occasionally and have always had a great time. This time, not so much. The service was very slow. We waited almost an hour and a half for our meal. Also, the food was not up to their usual standards. Chalking it up to a bad night and will go back again.

Even on short notice, the staff at Hamptons were able to fit in our party of 13 (and later 15) for dinner. As always, the food and service were both amazing. Chef had so many interesting items on the menu that it was difficult to make a selection, but we did have several orders each of the Crabcake with Fried Green Tomato, and the always perfect Seared Scallops for the appetizer course, and then an assortment of entrées, including the fresh Grouper and the Spinach-Ricotta Ravioli. Everything was simply perfect! Thank you once again Hamptons!

Drinks and food were excellent! Hampton's has the best Bloody Mary's in the world. As for food, my scallops were cooked to perfection. The waitstaff was very attentive. This was a business meal with out of town guests, and they could not believe Sumter had a restaurant of this caliber.

My wife and I went to Hamptons for the first time to celebrate our 42nd anniversary. We were greeted with an open door and taken to our table. Each of our menu's on the top said, "Wishing the (last name) a very happy 42nd anniversary." What a nice touch. Our server Michael was thoughtful and helpful. He offered us champaign to celebrate our special event. We did decline as we do not drink. My wife and I shared a first course selection of a Maryland style crab cake which was very good. My wife ordered the grilled beef tenderloin and I ordered the grilled rib eye steak. They were presented in a most attractive way and were delicious. For desert we both ordered coffee with a peach-blueberry cobler and cream brulee. Was great!

As always, Hampton's delighted us with a level of service and cuisine that is unmatched in this area. As many would agree, Velvet is the personification of the "Hampton Experience". We've never noticed any shortcomings in the rest of the staff, but one has not really been to Hampton's if they don't know Velvet. For this visit, Lady M and I enjoyed the Halibut and Ribeye on a Saturday evening. The Ribeye and the Duck are both recent highlights, but the Lady would add the Halibut to that list. Please treat yourself and those closest to you to an evening at Hampton's. Say "hi" to Velvet; you will also become a friend and admirer.

The service was delightfully pleasant. The food was good but my steak was overcooked at first. Overall, my experience was pleasant and I will return for another dish. Oh yeah, they give away free cookies which are very delicious.

What a wonderful restaurant. It was a special occasion for my brother who just turned 50. The food was amazing. Such a professional place. Thoroughly enjoyed the service, ambience and food. I'm a native to Sumter but I have been living in Charlotte NC for the past 20 years. I still call Sumter home! So nice to have a special place to enjoy when I'm in town. My brother and I have been to Hamptons before, but this was the first time for my mom....she loved the crabcakes! Actually, we loved it all! To celebrate my brother's 50th birthday there was no other place I wanted to go...Hamptons is awesome! Thanks for making a special family day just that...special!

Hamptons is an absolute gem of a restaurant in the SC Midlands, and I haven't found it's equal anywhere else I've been in the state. Chef Dall'Erta serves up an ever changing, delicious selection of food depending on what he finds freshest in the local markets. My current favorite appetizer has to be the crab cake... no fillers, just perfectly seasoned and seared crab meat. Don't pass up any of his home-made ravioli either. Make sure to save some room for dessert, and take a look at the bakery cases, as again, the desserts can change daily. Special diets are also accommodated, check in advance. This is a very comfortable, yet elegant restaurant, with a superb staff, ideal for any occasion! Don't miss the Alley, and live music either!

My husband & I celebrated my only surviving Aunt's 79th birthday at Hamptons & we were very impressed. The service was beyond outstanding and they made every effort to cater to all our requests. It was personal and friendly without being invasive. The food was most delicious with some salads that were very unique. The steaks were exactly as ordered & melted in our mouths! We had a minor problem with the potatoes - my Aunt didn't care for mashed potatoes with her meal- so the waitperson quickly & cheerfully substituted a different kind of potatoes and she was happy with those. I also had some brought to me & I agree, they were a much better alternative. The same waitperson treated Auntie with a crème brulee on the house for her bday.

Having a restaurant of this caliber in such a small town is like having our own little 8th wonder of the world in Sumter, SC. It's worth driving from miles around to experience it, but we're lucky enough to have it at our finger tips. There's absolutely not better service anywhere. The wait staff is in a league all their own, and the kitchen will accommodate any dietary needs/restrictions/preferences, given enough notice. (FYI: if you're gluten-free, let them know before you arrive, so they can have GF bread available.) The wine, the food the people....well, that's just what life is all about! -- and Hamptons sets the bar.

Hamptons in Sumter, SC is a very nice restaurant for the area. The food was excellent, staff was courteous, wine list extensive, and overall the experience was pleasant. The restaurant is, however, short of a 4 or 5 star rating compared to other 4 or 5 star restaurants. I noticed that the glass windows and partitions had not been cleaned in quite some time and the water was straight city tap water that had a distinct chlorine taste. I have filters at my house to alleviate this problem and I would think that a restaurant of this caliber would do the same for it's patrons. Another thing I noticed is that some of the lights were burned out and one appeared to have been actually on fire at one time. However, as mentioned, best in Sumter!

Hamptons is consistently some of the best food I've had in a long time! They're southern flair on classical cuisine is a welcome change to the run-of-the-mill restaurant. My most recent meal was maple glazed duck served on creamy grits, mustard greens and lingonberry sauce. It certainly hit the spot! Every bite was as good as the previous one. Hamptons is a great reason to travel from anywhere in SC to Sumter. We are about an hour away and it is worth every cent.

We were treated as a priority. Our flower order was already arranged on the table, complete with personalized menus, and a complimentary desert after our meal. Initially, there was a misunderstanding on my part as to the day of the reservation, and I only remember casually mentioning it was our anniversary dinner. So, the red carpet treatment we received was especially unexpected and special. The manager must have picked up on my disappointment over the phone at having to reschedule our anniversary dinner--that's service that goes above and beyond the call of duty. In the end, it was an amazing dining experience we'll not soon forget.

Dinner was fabulous, as usual. We had the seared scallops for an appetizer and they were amazing. Dinner was wonderful, as was dessert. We couldn't decide so we ordered the 'sampler plate' of desserts. Katie was our waitress and did a fabulous job. The Hampton's is always an enjoyable experience and we look forward to going back again soon!

I took a friend to Hamptons for dinner and from the moment that we walked in, we were engulfed in what I call "Hamptons Hospitality." They have the knack of making each guest feel like they are the most important ones there . The pre-dinner cocktails were signature creations that showed off the skill of the bartender and each dinner course was paired with a wine that highlighted the rich and robust flavors of each dish. The food went beyond delicious, it was artistically presented and was as nice to look at, as it was scrumptious. The experience was a chart topper!
