Although the food was very good, the service was deplorable. We had to chase the servers for everything and ultimately were served our main course after 2 hours. The chairs were extremely uncomfortable. We will never return.

We felt the warm and inviting French bistro ambience upon entering Cafe Monet. The dining room on the right is quiet, cozy, and romantic. On the left, there are a couple of larger tables. The hostess was charming as she seated our party, returned several times to answer questions about the menu, and made sure we were well taken care of. Cafe Monet's menu is unique- we could choose several appetizer size dishes or the traditional appetizer and entree meal. Each dish was creative, flavorful, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. The red beet salad and scallops over risotto were big hits as were the braised short ribs and skate with caper berries. We can't wait to eat at Cafe Monet again!

Good food, not a very big menu though. Portions on the small side, but very tasty. Very cold near the door in winter. Will go back in the spring/summer.

The food is excellent and with the ability to choose from a combination of items from various courses it fits any appetite. The duck confit is not to be missed! The service is wonderful and the decor very pleasing.

A small restaurant but nearly full on a Saturday night. And despite that, food came out w/out much of a wait. THe menu has 3 categories "un, deux, trois" and you can pick and choose from either or all depending on your appetite. A bit of a Chinese menu concept but it's OK. The food is tasty and very good.

  • A true French bistro or cafe

A true French bistro or cafe with moderate prices and the most flavorful of dishes. No one orders coq au vin any longer, but taste it here and it jumps out at you. I don't know where the flavors come from, but they are fabulous. Never know one tart tartin from another, but not here. You will never, anywhere, have a zestier, better caramelized apple tartin, anywhere, ever! This place is great - don't miss it. I eagerly await a few older French specials, such as ris de veau and les grenouilles (sweet breads and frog legs). I guess the owner doesn't want to be known as an old fashioned French restaurant, as their times may have come and gone. This this one is truly GREAT!

Cafe Monety had a variety of creative and interesting dishes; our group of 4 tried many of them and one was more delicious than the next.

  • We ate here the first time

We ate here the first time with friends who are frequent visitors and know the staff. It was a cold, snowy night so we had the place to ourselves. The owner made us some off-menu items that were great, as was the entire meal. We went back on the wife's birthday to see if we got the same great experience. We did. The restaurant was crowded, and we had a noisy large group next to us. But it got service quickly and got much quieter. Meanwhile, our service was attentive and the food great. The manager must have overheard us talking and chatted us up a couple of times about Paris and the movie Casablanca. It made us feel quite at home. While the prices are steep, the value is certainly there. Highly recommend, except when we're there.

  • We really enjoyed our meal

We really enjoyed our meal at Cafe Monet. Would I go back, in a NY minute. With it being Christmas Eve, we weren't sure what to expect as far as staff and crowd. The service was steady and attentive but there appeared to be only one waitstaff working. She was friendly, informative and attentive. The crowd seemed to flow pretty well. Even with groups that included children, the noise was at a minimum. I think the reservation got us the window seat which was nice (even though it poured rain for quite some time). Parking was right outside the door. The prices were in line with the meal that was served. The meals included soup, which was superb, fish (raw and cooked), and lamb all of which was done perfectly as were the accompaniments.

  • Small, local restaurant, sparse

Small, local restaurant, sparse furnishings, though warm. Started with carrot soup, very good, nice portion. Entrees included the hanger steak with fries, fixed med-rare, very tender, and the halibut on steamed greens with kalamata olives, very good, olives added distinctive taste. This is a BYOB, so we enjoyed a pinot with our meal. The entrees are served in both appetizer or regular size, we were not aware and the waiter did not specify, we ended up with appetizer sizes and we would have ordered regular had we known. We lost, as did the establishment here, we would have enjoyed the larger portion. We definitely will try this restaurant again.
