We had a great time. Our server was terrific and made good recommendations at my request. The food was fun and delicious and served promptly. Unfortunately, we had an appointment and couldn't linger, but Dilly was a perfect place for our casual (if all too brief) Valentine celebration. There was even special Valentine decor!

Great place from just a glass of wine or beer, to a lighter snack or meal, to a featured entree. I often enjoy the crab cakes dinner, but when I'm not so hungry I can put together my own smaller meal by ordering just a couple of crab cakes and grilled asparagus a la carte. The cranberry chutney makes the "Mariemont Gobbler" makes the turkey sandwich a special offering.

I love the vibe at the Dilly Cafe. The wine and beer lists are great. The food is usually solid, but not exceptional. On my last visit, I had the fish & chips. The fries were skinny (not pub chip style) but well seasoned and very good. The fish was a generous piece, but lacking flavor. Our server was nice, but a little scattered. The live music was great.

Skirt steak was good but green beans were heavily smoothered in bacon and onions, overwhelming the flavor. Rice was very heavily seasoned with garlic. Atmosphere felt like a cafeteria setting. Doubt I will return.

  • Enjoyable Dinner at Dilly

The food was fantastic. I had a mushroom and fennel stuffed pork chop that was indisputably one of the best pork chops I've ever had. They have a large wine selection and you can choose any bottle at retail price and just pay a modest $5 corkage fee. This lets you enjoy a better bottle of wine than you might otherwise be able to afford when dining out. The service was good, but not exceptional. The odd thing was the atmosphere. It is kind of stark and the tables are close to one another, so not exactly a romantic place. There was live entertainment though (solo guitar/singer) which was good.

They had a singer there and we were seated very close to him. MUCH TOO LOUD! We had trouble visiting with our friends because of it. Service was good, food was good - typical for a spot like this. Definetly would go back for a burger or the sweet potato salad. Great sweet potato fries! My advice - turn down the band or singer! WE would have had coffee and such after dinner, but chose to go to Starbucks because we could talk with our friends without yelling over the music.

We were meeting a friend to plan a vacation and the wait staff didn't mind that we lingered since they weren't busy. We each got something different and loved every bite! The tuna sandwich was great! - and I didn't think I was going to eat the sweet potato fires, but I couldn't stop - they were soooo good. The quiche was great as was the salad. Overall a great lunch. We haven't had a bad meal there. Good food. Good service. It was cold outside and we had tea - they kept checking back to refill our pot of hot water - nice touch!

We've been going to what we still call the "Dilly Deli" for years, and enjoy it very much. Very pleasing ambiance and very nice food. Though we are not Mariemonter's, we class it as a neighborhood gem. One cautionary remark. We've noticed that the menu has started a slow migration towards more upscale entrees. To a certain extent, having these pricier offerings is good, and it's perhaps understandable in view of what must be expensive remodeling efforts in recent years. To be sure, the Dilly Cafe still has their nicely priced salads, sandwiches and quiches, but we've seen other restaurants starting down this "upscale" trail, the end game usually being a complete change in the character of the restaurant. Please don't change too much.

Not up to its usual standards this past Sat. night. The red snapper special looked like a cafeteria entree (e.g., Perkins) and didn't taste much better (and was served cold). The asparagus was large, tough, and yellowish. The snapper itself had no seasoning whatsoever and was slightly dry. It's sad when the best thing on your plate is the rice. The shrimp and grits appetizer my boyfriend and I shared was also bland. His tuna was excellent as usual, leading me to believe that this is one of those restaurants where you simply cannot trust the specials and should stick to the tried and true. The service was also slack - inexperienced and a bit surly. We were very disappointed and it'll be a while before we go back.

I love the energy and food and atmosphere of Dilly Deli! (Yes, I go by the old name -- as do many others.) I introduced my foodie friend to Dilly for the first time. The atmosphere confounded him, but then he loved it. The restaurant mixed with the retail store works, as only Dilly can. Then the music started. That I am not sure of. No one seemed to listen or care for the added music/background noise. Dilly's food is so perfect. I love the REAL salmon burger, though I feel the bread is too much and too hard. I usually eat one quarter of it and fork the remainder of the sandwich's contents. My friend had two slices of the meat loaf. He never takes home leftovers, but he did from Dilly! Keep Dilly as Dilly. I love it!

This was our first time to eat at Dilly's. We went for Sunday brunch -- it was a lovely day and we sat outside. Very nice ambiance. Our brunch was, simply, sandwiches -- OK but the food was nothing special. I had a signature sandwich (turkey, brie and cranberry chutney bagette) which was OK. My wife had the salmon sandwich -- also OK. We would certainly eat there when in Mariemont but we drove across town to try Dilly's because of other reviews. We've had more memorable sandwiches elsewhere around town.
