Montelucia is a beautiful resort hotel. It's a shame that their fine-dining restaurant does not live up to the hotel's reputation. There were six of us at our table and none of us enjoyed our meals. A dish described as "trout" was actually salmon. The steaks described as "prime cut" were thin and tough and not rare as we had requested (but, rather well done). Their flat-iron steak was tasteless. Their signature dessert (described as a "banana split" with vanilla ice cream, chocolate and caramel topped with two slices of crispy bacon) was inedible. The ice cream tasted salty. The music from the bar area was so loud that we could barely hear ourselves speak. I would not go back.

My fiance' and I enjoyed the Montelucia Resort & Spa to celebrate my birthday. Prado and the staff were exceptional. Every effort to make us comfortable, happy and extremely well fed was made effortlessly. Executive Chef Michael Cairns greeted us on Friday Dec. 14th 2012. A truely exceptional professional! He surprised us by sending a complimentary bottle of Champagne to our room to apologize for a noisy guest who rudely awakend us at 7am. Chef Micheal Cairns is truely a class act! My fiance' and I highly recommend the Montelucia Resort and Prado. We will visit again and again.

  • Great Spot > Unpredictability
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 10/28/2012
This is the second year in a row we chose to come here for our wedding anniversary. The food is predictably good but not overly inventive. The service is always spot on. Being seated out of the patio is really the special part of dining here. The view of Camelback Mtn. and the grounds of the resort are magnificent at sunset and early evening. One caveat: because this is a resort restaurant, you can get quite a mix of diners at the restaurant in any given evening. This isn't the resorts fault but it can add a variable that can detract rather than add to the experience as it did this year. However, the ratings suggest that we thought highly of the restaurant, which we do, but go into any resort restaurant with eyes wide open.

We have dined at Prado many times and this was the first time it was not excellent. I ordered a filet, which is no longer on the menu but our server told us they "had a few left." I should have known. It was dry and overdone although I ordered medium and it should have had a pink center. It was not juicy and delicious and perhaps I ordered the wrong item. We also ordered the dolce dessert with bacon (please leave that on the new menu!) and it was great but took a very long time coming. I preferred the previous menu to this new one but it is an exceptional setting and we will be back.

    Dined on 9/29/2012
This was our first visit to Prado, and although we would go back and try again, it missed the mark on service, which was surprising! Before being seated, the hostess asked if we were guests of the hotel (we were not) and if it was our first time there. I said yes and how highly recommended they were for a special occassion--my birthday! She said beyond the food that the service was the highlight. Well, we were disappointed. The restaurant was not very busy and we waited more than normal for everything. My appetizer did not come with my husband's, and after several minutes, the server finally came over and noticed the mistake. After another few minutes the manager brought it. Things did not flow from that point on it seemed.

First time at Prado on a Friday eve. The service was impeccable. The wait staff knowledgeable and efficient. Ambience outdoors was beautiful. Would definitely recommend for both locals and visitors.

Went for brunch. Lovely room and grounds. Excellent buffet or order off the menu. Promptly seated, greeted, served. Nice table outside as requested. Easy to talk, not crammed in, but a good crowd which I consider a positive. Food quality superb. I thought price was very good for the service, ambiance, and food quality and quantity. Would definitely go again - soon - and will try other meals (lunch, dinner, etc) now also. Just a great place all around.

We loved the ambience as we sat outside within earshot of the fountains. The service was excellent, very attentive the whole time but not too in your face. The gorgonzola/cream cheese mousse with flatbread that we started with was incredible. The sea scallops on a bed of lobster risotto was cooked to perfection. The homemade pasta dish was also done just right. The wine list was quite extensive. Plenty of great options. When the wine I selected was not available they were helpful in selecting another option and offered to work with the price. We would definitely return.

There were 6 of us that had a 6:30 reservation. Everything was perfect UNTIL....the music (if you want to call it that) started playing....so loud and banging. None of us could hear each other, our ears took time to adjust when we got outside and away from the too loud noise. The decibel range was considered in the dangerous zone, without a doubt. They should start that cacaphonous noise after 10:00 when the bar visitors come. We didn't have desert as we couldn't wait to get out of there and buy coffee elsewhere!

Spectacular views, comfortable chairs, great service, wonderful wine, and delectable food made our dining experience delightful. The white bean hummus and the caramelized onion and cherry vassi (assorted flatbreads and crackers with a mini Mason jar of your favorite topping) were so good, we almost didn't save room for our next course, the white kale salad with roasted stone fruit. Which would have been tragic, because that was the best salad I have ever tasted. As vegans, we were already in heaven, and it only got better when the gnocchi with arugula pesto arrived. Our view of Camelback Mountain and the exquisitely comfortable chairs contributed to our decision to dine at Prado again and again.

A bit of a disappointment. Food (italian) was adequate, but nothing special. Room very nice, although too warm to eat outside, and renovation of pool area ruined view (supposed to be done in Aug). I have no idea why the resaurant theme changed from Spanish (which matched the theme of the hotel, and was somewhat unique in the Phoenix area) to just another of many average Italian restaurants in the Valley.

unfortunately, the excellent dinner was spoiled by a rowdy group of "bachelorettes" raising the noise level to unbearable. the management was unable to move us, so we ate hurriedly and left with the giggling, screaming and shouting ringing in our ears. Management should place parties such as this in a private room. I advise anyone not to go there on Saturday night jungles they are devotees of excessive noise. Not for people over 50! i can well afford a glass of wine, however a cordial attempt at placating us would have been an offer of an appetizer or a glass of wine ..not"come back again on a weekday and I"l take care of you"

My wife and I dined at Prado twice during our wedding anniversary celebration weekend at the Montelucia resort. We found eating on the patio in the warmth of the Arizona evening a great experience, full of atmosphere and romance. Eating indoors we found were conscious that we were overlooked, though the food and wine were of course just as great.

The food was basic buffet food. Nothing exciting about it. We were sat next to a very large party who was extremely loud, when there was plenty of other open seating. We were having a "girls day" with friends and were hoping to be able to have a relaxing brunch and catch up. This did not happen. It took a very long time to find out who our server was and even longer to get the check at the end of brunch. When we received the check it took way too long to process the cards and the cc machine stopped processing them half way through our party. Overall...We will not be back to Prado
