The pan seared scallops were outstanding! They have some of the best food in all of Novato. They also have live Jazz on Friday and Saturday nights from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Great music to listen to during dinner! The great ambiance is similar to Wild Fox, but the food and service is a million times better!!

Our reservation for a table at the pool was honored, the table was very pleasant (the weather cooperated), and the food was good. But used plates were not cleared from the table; mostly we did it ourselves. This was Easter brunch and perhaps they were short-staffed.

I've been to Rickey's before for luncheons with groups and it was rather nice. I thought of giving Rickey's a try for a friend's Birthday dinner because of it's convenient location. There were six of us. For the most part, the service was friendly and attentive but very slow (they were not that busy) and mistakes were made on our orders as well as the bill. One person in our party had ordered the 3 course dinner which included wine and dessert but we were billed for each item individually. The bill was sent back to be corrected however they still charged us for the wine. We just paid it without sending it back a third time. They also forgot that we requested a special Birthday dessert. After a reminder and a looong wait we did receive it.

Rickey's has become one of our favorite restaurants in Novato. The aroma of select Angus beef cuts or fresh seafood and vegetables being grilled over the almond wood fire greets you as you walk through the front door. Whether you want a cozy booth for a romantic evening or a large table to party with friends or family, Rickey's can accommodate you. Louisa at the bar, makes killer drinks! Warm up by the cozy fireplace on cold evenings or have cocktails and dinner by the pool on warm balmy nights. If you're having such a good time and don't want to leave, you can stay overnight at The Inn Marin Hotel right on the premises. Best of all enjoy live local jazz bands, like "SwingSet" or "Tracy Rose Band", every Friday Night!

I took my teenage daughter to Rickey's, along with her friend and her sister, for her birthday this week. We ordered from the Price Fixe menu, which was very reasonably priced, including a glass of wine for me, and Shirley Temples for the girls. The steak was delicious, cooked to perfection; garlic mashed potatoes - awesome; and the desserts - heavenly. (Creme brulee, chocolate lava cake and berries with whipped cream) One of the owners took care of us, including helping sing Happy Birthday. I'd love to go back, also, with my grownup friends. There's a beautiful fireplace, it's an old-style California restaurant, mission style furnishings, and there's a lovely garden with a pool out back, as there's a terrific adjacent hotel.

We have been to Rickey's before, and as always the prime rib was excellent , and the service and atmosphere were very nice, with a low level of noise, even though the jazz trio with vocalist were performing. That also lent a nice touch with soft background music. The restaurant was crowed, but we were not rushed, and enjoyed a nice leisurely dinner which is what we wanted. We shall return.

We are locals and Ricky's was reccommended to us by friends. We went on a Friday night and the place was fairly busy. I ordered a seafood salad that I did not care for (perhaps it was the blue crab that tasted different to me)...my boyfriend had a steak and really enjoyed it. The expresso creme brulee was AMAZING...we still talk about it! The ambiance is very nice...perfect for a nice date.

The food was superb if a little short on portion. The restaurant is high on our list of good ones but we got seated near the door and the foot traffic, along with loud, cackling strangers posing as intimate friends 12 inches off each elbow was a bit despoiling to a romantic valentine atmosphere. Service above average.

Rickey's is most enjoyable. We heard Sony & Jerry Holland, vocal and guitar, and they were great. The room, with fireplace is warm and friendly, big enough for groups, booths for intimate dining. The food and service were a pleasant surprise. Ham and cabbage soup was very good on a cool winter evening; salad of iceberg lettuce, kidney beans, corn, tomatoes, avocado, & feta had a nice ancho chili dressing. Salmon was cooked perfectly and with a coconut cream sauce on the side; mashed potatoes and green beans were excellent. Crab cakes were among the best I've had on the west coast; we'll have them again. Very good service & good bar.

My family tried Ricky's for a second time. The food was still wonderful, and the piano player in the background added a festive Xmas touch to the dinner, and was just the perfect noise level; just enough to hear but not to interfere with the dining experience. I just wanted to add that this time the service was much better than in my first review. The owner of Rickey's is dedicated to creating a fine dining experience for his customers and the head chef really knows what flavors belong together. I would recommend Ricky's for the ambiance, and the flavorful dishes that serve Mom's dishes way better than she ever did! (Sorry, Mom!)

    OpenTable Diner Since 2005

Last minute cancellation forced us to get a restaurant reservation for Thanksgiving. Two friends told me Rickey's had a good rep. 7 pm reservation, dining room almost full. Three course pris fixe for $29.50. Iceberg lettuce salad with bland dressing. Slices of smoked turkey looked straight out of one of those "turkey breast" balls at a Safeway deli, perfect green beans, a tablespoon of gravy, and, literally, a half-teaspoon of cranberry sauce. Too-sweet carrot cake (my son wanted pumpkin or apple pie but they weren't offered). My jealous thoughts turned to those enjoying a truly sumptuous meal (comparitively) at San Quentin.

My wife and I went to Rickey's for our 26th anniversary this past Thursday, Thanks Giving. We elected not to order from the special menu for the day which looked quite good and inviting. Turkey simply was not on our minds this year, although there were two different turkey choices as well as enough other choices of sides to offer a great selection for anyone who wished a more traditional Thanks Giving feast. Both our meals were prepared to our order. We both enjoyed the food and would recommend Rickey's to others. The service was outstanding both in the attentativeness of the wait staff and the promptness of service. We were never rushed, but neither did we have to wait a considerable time for any course to be served. Great place

The food at Rickey's was great--we enjoyed a three course Thanksgiving dinner--the chefs thoughtfuly prepare everything. However, the service was horrible. I asked for a booster seat for my toddler four times, the soup came without spoons, we had to share one butter knife between the three of us for 25 minutes, and my husband's dessert arrived 10 minutes after mine and after we had to ask for it twice. If it had been a busy time, I would have been more understanding, but at 2:30 pm, there were only a few tables being used, and no one looked especially busy. If you go, expect 20-30 dollar plates for 5 dollar service. If you do not care about service, you will enjoy Rickey's.

We were disappointed that our meat was overcooked. We indicated we would be sharing two appetizers yet we had to ask for small plates. Our empty bread basket and bread plates were removed when the basket became empty. Service was spotty. Iced tea was not refilled. My husband was never asked if he cared for a second glass of wine. We waited a long time after being given dessert menus before anyone came over to our table to see if we wanted to order. We indicated in our reservation that it was a special occassion. We were seated next to a table with a crying child with large toys. I know Rickey's cannot control the child, but consideration should have been given to the fact we were celebrating and placed far away from this group.

I want to love Rickey's so much, but it just won't let me. The food is okay. Atmosphere is nice, but the main issue is the service. I have had consistently bad service there, several times, and will likely not return. During the summer, outdoor seating is lovely, out by the pool, and may still be a good bet for those who want an appetizer and a mojito on a summer night. Just don't expect good service as a standard.

The Sunday night singer was TOO LOUD, we had an early dinner and at one point were just about the only ones in the place, we asked our server a number of times to have the sound lowered, since we could barely hear one another talk at our own table. Our server complied with our request, but the singer did not reduce the volume, in fact it only became louder. I would go back for the food, but the music/singer was a big turn off. Was really disapointed in the noise factor.
