A word from Chotto
In Japanese, "chotto" indicates a small unit of measure. An informal term used in a wide variety of casual situations among friends, chotto can mean "a little," "for a moment," "excuse me," or to soften the sound of a request.

Chotto's small, shareable plates are crafted using a combination of Japanese staple ingredients and fresh products from local farms, ranches, and fish markets, prepared using Japanese techniques and cooking methods.

Our beverage program is similar to our cuisine in that we will have a selection of "chotto" by the glass drinks. We will feature fresh, unique cocktails made with Japanese sake and shochu, as well as an international selection of wine and beer.

Almost everything we had here was outstanding. The calamari was meh, but the bacon mochi, kakuni, crudo, ramen, short ribs, etc etc were all amazing. Beer was fresh and reasonably-priced too. Very very highly recommended.

Was late for our reservation by about 20 minutes and they sat us immediately with no problem and no questions asked. They were very helpful when describing sake flights and dishes. Shared 4 dishes among 3 friends: hamachi ceviche special with a quail egg (not on the menu, daily special), ramen, bacon wrapped mochi, and the sampler skewers. The food was tasty and the place got busier toward the end of our meal around 9pm. Great location with tons of bars nearby.

  • My boyfriend & I were nicely

My boyfriend & I were nicely greeted and seated right away & presented with the drink & dinner menus. First off I noticed the ambience was super cool. The old barn wood with lighting behind it, warmed up the place. We ordered a Chotto style "Manhatten" to start, a Saki based drink. Nice..followed by 5 small plates which was plenty of food. My boyfriend, who is a bit staunch about what he eats and I, loved everything we ordered, with an asterisk on the short ribs. We usually do not order desserts but I wanted to try everything here. The waitress pointed out the dessert that they are known for, Black sesame ice cream with sweet potato donuts. REALLY wonderful. Music was not loud, so we could talk. We'll be back.....Love Chotto!

The food was excellent. We went on a double date, and all of us got to taste a nice variety of flavors, topped with delicious, not too sweet dessert in the end. The service was excellent. The only reason why we didn't give it 5 stars, was that I guess I think it's not that kind of place (like Gary Denko, or something along those lines.) Excellent Japanese bar food, just lovely. We're totally going again!

We enjoyed the tasting menu - the chef's selections really showcased the varied menu. We also added the Hamachi Kama which was excellent. The portions were jsut right. The calamari salad and bacon mochi 2 items we really liked. The sake list is impressive. The 3 tasting flights paried well with the tasting menu. Service was friendly and not rushed. However, for some, it might be a little slow. Overall a very nice Izakaya. We'll be back soon.

every item we had was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. we had the butterfish crudo (melted in our mouths), yuzu ponzu calamari (we could have licked the plate clean), hamachi kama, the special of the day - uni with razor clams and mentaimo. additionally, the chef comped us with seared maguro sashimi. we had arrived earlier than our reservation to an empty restaurant. i was so glad to see it filling up as we left. i really hope more people discover this.

Really fun vibe with excellent service. Unfortunately, I didn't love the selection of food, and some dishes I expected to like had just a little different twist to them that made them a fair bit less tasty. The wine selection was also pretty weak. But if you like sake and meat, go for it. Loved the interior.

The modern interior and good music creates a great ambiance. consistent excellent izakayq fare. Decent sake selection, lots of sochu (but I'm less familiar or interested). Service is always great, food comes right from the grill-small so reserve a table or come prepared for a wait on popular eating out nights. the coarse cut hamachi with greens is very good, the ramen fresh. Did t think I would like bacon mochi but it was an experience! duck breast and pork belly cooked to perfection and the veggie / salad options are creative, fresh and absolutely delicious. beans and spinach with sesame sauce 2 ways!

This was a delicious little place in the Marina. The menu is set up as small, shared plates. The ramen is excellent and I would highly recommend ordering it. The only downside is that my husband and I felt rushed in our dining experience. I think it's that the dishes are prepared quickly (perhaps because they are small?) and come out one on top of the other, so you don't necessarily get to relish your dining experience. Next time I would ask them to slow it down a bit. But other than that, amazing!

My first visit to Chotto was on a busy Saturday night, the service was so-so and they were out of many of their popular dishes (bacon mochi, short rib etc.) The staff was unapologetic. Initially turned us off. Second visit on a quiet Tuesday night. Had a 5 course tasting menu. Food was excellent and was a nice way to try several of their best menu items. Both times was pricey - $80-$100 for a couple.
