We very much enjoyed our first dinner at the Needham branch of the Petit Robert Bistro. We have been to the one in Kenmore Square also, and the Needham Petit Robert Bistro was also very enjoyable! The Hostess and Maitre d' were efficient, and our waiter, although a little pretentious, was obviously experienced, and we had superb service. Our party had different entrees, and all declared their choice to be excellent. Prices were moderate-high moderate, about $70.00 per person, with wine, coffee and dessert. The only false note was offering us a "special" bottle of wine for $95.00, before we had even opened our menus. But that aside, we enjoyed our evening very much, and will return!

We went to Petit Robert Bistro in Needham for our anniversary, and it was a good decision. We had a lovely meal: a nice spinach soup, followed by tender scollops St. Jacques that were full of flavor, and flavorful duck breast cooked just as we had requested. Dessert was several chocolate choices, both delicious. The atmosphere was gracious, perfect for the occasion. This is not the first time we have eaten here, and we have also tried several of the other sister restaurants. They never disappoint.

Petit Robert has been in Needham for some time and this was my first visit. Shame on me. I have been missing out. The food was tremendous and the staff friendly and courteous. I started with an orangina based martini which was fabulous. For dinner I had a petit salad which was not so petit. The salad had panko crusted goat cheese. You have got to try this. I then had grilled salmon over root vegetables and a fruit tart for desert. One of the better meals I have had in some time and we eat out a lot.

Hubby and I ordered the specials. Sent my faro, quinoa dish back because it had cold and warm parts but not hot. They heated it and then it was fine. Both of our dishes were okay but since they were specials I was hoping they would be really good. Service on the other hand is superb and staff extremely nice. Sorry I can't speak more highly of the food.

We had a party of eight for a celebration. Nice kids choices. Everyone loved their food. Eggs Benedict was served with a salad which was nice and had options of smoked salmon or steak instead of ham. Spicy bloody Mary's were delicious. Excellent escargot and French baked baguettes. Great experience. Recommend.

we had a poor experience at the restaurant -- the service was slow and not very good. We had to wait 15 mins upon arrival for drinks. The cheese plate was so small that it was impossible to share amongst a group of 4 -- its more of single serving. Our meat was undercooked and one diner had to return it to the kitchen. Overall, it was a poor experience. This is not a cheap menu and we will not return.

This last visit proved to be disappointing for one member of our party of four, and that is the reason for the poor food rating. Three people enjoyed their meals (duck and boeuf bourgignon). However, the duck, which had been ordered medium, for the 4th person, arrived completely dried out and tough. It was a total washout. Earlier salad and other appetizers were excellent. This is my 2nd visit to Petit Robert, and will return, but based on our 4th person's experience, will be sure to send improperly cooked food back to kitchen.

French onion soup was very good. We both ordered fish - one salmon & one sole - not much flavor. I never salt my food, but had to salt the sole. Looking back, we probably should have ordered standard French dishes. We won't be rushing back.

Our lunch was wonderful, with everyone extremely pleased with the menu selections. The service was as fine as I've had anywhere, by waitstaff, bussers, and hosts. However, on a weekday when the restaurant was about half full for lunch, we were seated nearly on top of a vivacious party of four, above whom we could barely hear our own conversation. In addition, the tables were arranged such that one member of our party was literally touching a member of the party at the next table. I recognize that servers prefer to serve nearby tables, but this restaurant is small enough that the servers would not have been overtaxed if the diners were spread out more.

We always enjoy our dinners at Petit Robert. This time we tried the Chicken Cordon Bleu which we had never seen on the menu before. It was good, very well executed, but I would go back to my favorite coq au vin or even the roasted chicken next time. The noise level was louder than usual, but, then again, this was a Saturday night. My only regret is that the wine list could have more reds (especially California reds). I know; this is a FRENCH restaurant.

I organised a 40th birthday lunch here with a group of friends. Without going over the top, the service was very attentive and, as always, the food was delicious ... everything cooked to perfection and beautifully presented, plus a great recommendation for a sparkling wine to toast the birthday girl with. The birthday cake they prepared was magnificent, chocolate on the outside, light and fruity on the inside! Petit Robert might just become our Official Birthday Lunch Restaurant.

Our food was not memorable... the eggplant filled with rice was pretty far from french cuisine. The halibut was OK, but had it been seared, it would have been much better. The liver pate was awful. The Locs were fine, but not special. in any way. The noise level is likely uncontrollable, but it is very noisy and more than difficult to have a quiet conversation. This is the second time I have been there, mostly because the attentiveness of the wait staff that I came back... on a fairly omportant evening for us... So, that's that... T

My friends and I came here for the first time. Every dish was great, there was nothing that was "just OK". A couple of my friends rolled their eyes in perfect satisfaction. Price was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. I believe the restaurant just won four new customers who will be bringing their friends and family here. The restaurant is small so the noise level is high. We had difficulties hearing one another at our table. Service is pleasant and the wait staff don't bother us more than absolutely necessary. The only suggestion for the wait staff is to check on water more often. I was out of water for a long time without anyone stopping by to refill and the wine was not doing the trick.

This is a good place for an evening dinner. It lacked some luster that it certainly could have had with some additional effort. Clearly they wanted to push water, drinks and up selling you. Salads were very good but they could have had a more reasonable amount of cheese. The smoke salmon appetizer was not good because it had a lot of black on it. Main courses were grilled nicely; they definitely had the right temperature that they cooked with. There were a lot of nice vegetables being used, that you don't always have at other restaurants. For the price, it had to be a lot better than it was if they want people to return. I left full, which is better than I can say about a lot of restaurants.

Began with nice Pates de Maison that we shared. Had to ask for more bread, but tasty assortment. Sweetbreads were deemed good, my Chicken Kiev was fine, eggplant special wasn't entirely cooked through, but risotto was tasty. Wine markup was excessive on sauvignon blanc. Coffee was good, cappucino could have been hotter & expresso portion was scant. Biggest downer was that Open Table reservation specified it was my brother's birthday. Other tables received a complimentary dessert with candle, but my brother's birthday was not acknowledged. Important to read the reservation. Overall, restaurant is fine, and server, though nice, wasn't terribly polished. Given the prices, things should be classier.
