We had an excellent time! The restaurant honored our request to be seated outside, the service was terrific, the food was wonderful and the complimentary valet parking is a great deal! The ambiance at Poggio is very special and it's one of the many reasons I'm a return customer.

All agreed that the food was very good. . The service was efficient but the waiter was not polished and did not interact much with us. He did not know much about wine but sought advice from the bartender to pick a good wine that we enjoyed. I would go back.

The food is mediocre at best, but the reason I will never go back to this restaurant is its terrible service. Unfortunately, every minute we were in the restaurant was punctuated by sub-par service and attempts to remedy the experience fell short. Due to a mistake in the number of guests, we were told we had to wait, and during our 40 minute wait, tables of three were given to parties of two and we ended up eating at a table in the busy bar area that was two round two-tops pushed together, which was not comfortable. To top it off, cheese came on every dish ordered by a lactose-intolerant guest who specifically asked for the cheese to be omitted. There is more, but that is all that I can describe in the allotted character limit.

Poggio hasn't disappointed me yet. Service was excellent and not overbearing. Imaginative menu items remain within the classic trattoria theme. No attitude and the food was Great. Open Table reservations are always spot on. I leave with a large smile on my face. These people know what they are doing.

Outstanding, stunning dinner. Oak-grilled anchovies were a tasty starter, spit roasted pork was delectable, moist and unlike usual pork roasts. The rubarb-strawberry tart was delicious and in an incredibly light pastry. We chose specially featured Italian wines which were perfect, both white and red. We couldn't have been happier!

We love Poggio - came for my husband's birthday. The waiter was very accommodating to our children, and the kids meal was very reasonably priced. My glass of wine was excellent value compared to other comparable restaurants. I was a little disappointed with my crab pasta dish - more creamy than I had imagined from the menu. My husband enjoyed his lamb pasta dish. We have eaten lunch here before, too, and had excellent food at a fair price.

Service and ambience were excellent with the food very good in reflecting subtle and refined elements of Italian cuisine. The house-cured meats were a revelation and the halibut as good as I've had in the Bay Area. The wine list was predominantly Italian but also included some American varietals at reasonable price points for those less versed in the Italian vintages. Only mild mitigants to an otherwise excellent meal was the overall noisiness and the tightness of some of the 2-person tables to one another. Overall, a very solid 4-star selection!

Very nice restaurant-good food and service but having a young child crying through lunch is distracting. (Maybe there is nothing that can be done regarding children crying in restaurants, but parents should be careful regarding the types of restaurants they pick when they have infants/babies along.)

Food was good, service was pretty attentive, but nothing really wowwed me. The menu is nicely tailored to a variety of palates and includes many seasonal items, however the execution of some of our dishes were flawed. Our lamb was very oversalted, overcooked, and dry (was medium/well when we requested medium/rare). Whole snapper was boring and uneventful, a dish easily duplicated at home. Sunchokes were undercooked. Fava puree was served cold whereas its accompaniments were warm or hot. Great wine list with lots of moderately priced wines. Service was a bit stuffy and impersonal though. Very touristy spot. There is some sidewalk seating with heat lamps. Much more of a date spot, not good for groups.

We've been to Poggio many times, and the service has always been wonderful. This last time, our waiter seemed distracted and forgetful. To his credit, when our antipasto was late and ended up being served with our main courses, he took it off the bill. But then we had to wait a very long time for our check. Maybe he was just having an off-night.

Great Location on the main street....This was the 3rd time I have eaten at Poggio. The first was fair, the last 2 were very good. If you can get a booth way inside for dinner you have more atmosphere. I had a vegetarian dish this time....very tasty. And they had an apricot sorbet that was delicious.

The food is consistently inconsistent. The service is generally poor.Once we had a very unctuous waiter who spoke to us like we had never had a meal in a fine restaurant before. The last time I was there, the waitress was a scatter-brain and charged off after taking half the drink orders- after we waited at least 15 minutes at the table before we were greeted by anyone! I am a local resident and I cannot figure out if Larry Mindel, the owner, just doesnt care anymore about providing top notch service and food and has "sold out" to the tourist crowd. It must be difficult to find good servers since Poggio seems to have a monopoly on lousy ones.
