A word from Bistrot La Minette
Bistrot La Minette is the realization of Chef Peter Woolsey's dream that began a decade ago during his earliest days studying in France: to create a restaurant that would share his love of the authentic bistrot experience with his fellow Philadelphians.Chef Peter pays great respect to the traditional dishes that he creates and honors the classical French methods required to achieve unparalleled bistrot cuisine. Both savory and pastry menus are ever evolving to reflect the seasons, the availability of the best ingredients and the inspiration of the chef. They are drawn from the various regions of France and the multitude of delicacies that each has to offer. The service is both efficient and warm, rooted in a foundation of hospitality and caring for our guests.
Our goal is for Bistrot La Minette to be accessible to all guests that enjoy superb food and wine, and the company of their companions: hoping to evoke their best memories-or dreams-of traditional French bistrot dining.

A great neighborhood gem. Authentic french food, great waitstaff, good drinks, and a beautiful outdoor garden where they show french films on Monday nights. Food is delicious and presented beautifully but portions are small. You really need to order all three courses to feel satisfied.

  • Authentic bistro atmosphere.

Authentic bistro atmosphere. Lives up to the motto on the front wall ("vins fins, cuisine soignee"). Upgraded menu and the food improved upon previous visits which were already notable for good food. Well chosen and reasonably priced wines by the glass and bottle. Not cheap, but prices are appropriate to the quality and competitive. Definitely better than previous visits and definitely worth return visits. We went early, before theater: cannot judge noise well because the restaurant was not full.

  • dinner and a movie for monday

dinner and a movie for monday nights in the summer is a great idea. however, they need to raise the projector a bit so that short people can see over the heads of those sitting in front of them. also, the seats are uncomfortable and they need cushions for the seat and back of the benches and either cushions for the chairs or more comfortable chairs. a great idea which just needs a lttle tweaking. if they want repeat clients, they should change the menu from time to time or offer daily specials. this was our second visit and the menu and the specials were the same.

  • Went for our anniversary dinner...

Went for our anniversary dinner... well worth it. Simple inviting interior. The servers were wonderful and warm. We couldn't choose between the dishes on the menu which all looked appetizing so we asked if we could have a chef's tasting (not on the menu) which they happily accomodated, and we decided to do a wine pairing as well. The food was fantastic, the wine also good- standouts were the desert wines paired with the fois gras courses, the squab breast was fantastic, sardines grilled with the taste of the smoke, Escargots served in tiny pots with plenty of garlic and butter, The rabbit was wonderful and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the rib eye dish. One of our more enjoyable meals in Philadelphia.

    HappyEater

Bistro La Minette is a gem - excellent food, very good service, and a lovely atmosphere. The dishes are beautiful examples of classic bistro dishes, well-prepared and with excellent-quality ingrendients. Nice touches included vegetables and pasta cooked to perfection - not gloppy - and sauces that were subtle yet flavorful. There are good wines avilable by the glass, and the wine and beer selection are well-priced and interesting. Can't wait to go back!

Overall outstanding dining experience. The service was impeccable - attentive, but not in your face - and the ambiance was delightful. Bright yellow walls, red button cushions, high ceilings, view of the kitchen in the back, the front open with giant windows, pictures of France on the walls, romantic French music. The food was very good - we had the mushroom and salmon tartare appetizers, split the seabass (which they did on 2 plates for us without us even asking!), and the strawberry appetizer. The mushroom appetizer was my favorite, but felt like more could have been done with the seabass. All this being said, Bistrot La Minette will have to be a special occasions-only restaurant for us, as it is expensive. With wine, our meal was $110.

Empty and believe it is too pricey. The food was not comparable with pricing. Total bill $140 for two. The chicken was too salty and Not very distinctive. The sea bass was good but not memorable. Coffee had to be sent back. Lemon tart was small but flavorful. We also wanted the family dinners but they were not available. We won't return. Thank you

My husband and I enjoyed a 33rd anniversary dinner at La Minette. the food was delicious and the wait staff was outstanding. I noted that it was our anniversary and asked for a quiet table which we were given. At the end of the meal, an additional plate was delivered to our table. On it was written in chocolate, Happy Anniversary. Included were chocolates and fruit. We were very pleased with the total experience and would return. I have recommended it to friends. Hilda Cohen

The first resturant we've been in for ages that you could have an actual conversation without using a bullhorn. Not because it was empty - there was a good crowd. We ate simply, but very well - green salad, the sole, striped bass, and great desserts. A bit on the pricy side for a neighborhood place for us, but a very nice experiance.

My gosh, this must sound like I'm either a friend or family of the owner, but I'm not! I happened into Bistrot La Minette on my way to the theatre, Le Tage, across the street. Appetizers and desert are to die for. Entrees are good but not great. (Spent a lot of time picking the bones out of the sole so if you don't like working for your meal order something else.) Portions are perfect size so you can indulge in each course. The place is truly reminiscent of a Parisian bistro - the lighting, background music, banquette, sound of the place. If you’ve never been then you will feel as if you are; if you’ve been you’ll feel as if you’ve returned.

Expected just another bland bistro. Was pleasantly surprised by the excellent food; the mushroom in cream sauce with puff pastry was light and delicately seasoned. My chicken entree was perfectly cooked- juicy, with crispy skin. The service was far above average too- the maitre'd ran out in the rain to hail me a cab. Highly recommended
