The food and service were both exceptional. The appetizers were a real treat. We had a party of four and all ordered something different. We had Steak, Lamb chops Chicken and Seafood, all of which were sensational. Everyone of our meals seemed to get better with every bite. I know my Wife and I will be back very soon for another delicious evening.

The view was wonderful & the setting was quite romantic. I did find the menu to be a bit limited, but as a fish lover & my companion a steak lover we each were able to select satisfying entrees. We did skip an appetizer due to lack of anything that really caught our attention & instead opted for the lobster bisque which was delicious. We do plan to return, especially in the spring to fully enjoy the view, but I do hesitate to recommend to others solely because some people would prefer more menu options.

We were dissappointed with both the service and the quality of the food. Dishes were noted as salty and the quality of meats was average. In addition, while the staff was quite friendly and generally attentive, the time between courses was protracted.

My wife and I have dined at the Water Works in the past and had incredible meals. We are on their mailing list and recently received an email advertising a Restaurant Week menu. When we arrived, we already knew what we wanted. At first our waiter was very attentive, but when it came time to order he tried to dissuade us from ordering the RW offering. As soon as we ordered from the RW menu the service stopped and we were treated like second class patrons. I realize that the RW is cheaper than their typical meal, but once you order cocktails, a bottle of water, and wine it is much more than the $35 RW meal. The food itself was just ok compared to previous visits. It seemed like they put together cheaper dishes to fit within the RW $35 range.

The atmosphere was great, the service was outstanding, very friendly yet professional. The many different flavors are a real treat, and the risks taken with the different presentations and combination of styles really make a good impression. We loved our time there and we will definitely come back.

We went to celebrate two birthdays. Nice selection of foods, with the custom made omelettes and waffles being the best. ALL OTHER FOOD THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HOT WAS NOT!!!!! In some cases I would have been happy with tepid! Service was excellent, very attentive without being intrusive. At the end the waiter brought out a plate with some treats and Happy Birthday written in chocolate, nice touch. A little too loud, they would serve themselves well to add some tapestry to the wall, it would work with the decor and tone down the noise. We will definitely go back in the Spring for brunch or dinner, but that will be it if the foods are not at the right temperature

Would NEVER go back. For that kind of money I can think of 10 other places off the top of my head I'd rather eat. Food was nothing to write home about, the waiter forgot our dessert and then our car at the valet. It was an all around disappointment and waste of a babysitter.

The wine list was expensive and the service a little bit slow, but nice and relaxed. I was disappointed with the view - I thought we would be able to see Boathouse row (and I think you can from the main dining room) but where we were sitting just gave us a view of Riverside Drive. The food was great, though, and creative.

My friend and I loved Waterworks! We saw a sign for it near the Phila. Museum last summer. We retained that memory for several seasons; finally making reservation for Sunday brunch on a cold Winter day. From the coffee service to the freshly made omelets, the brunch was very pleasurable. Our next visit will be in the Summer for al fresco dining.

    Dined on 1/2/2009
The river view from the solarium was almost as good as when sitting outside in warmer weather. Despite the 'special occasion' nature of this restaurant, the food is consistently very good, albeit pricey. I find the 'water' list a bit of a conceit, especially given that the restaurant is built over the first municipal water system in the world, and the interpretive center downstairs provides all the reasons why we should not be bottling and shipping water all over the world. Oh well... Wine list is good, but ridiculously expensive. $16.00 for a glass of sauvignon blanc that I can buy a bottle of for $13.00? That's too much of a markup. Cocktails are a better option. Still a great place to take out-of-town visitirs.

This was my first time at Water Works, it is a lovely place. Ihad asked for a nice table and our seating was perfect - looking at Boat House Row. It was NYE and I feel our service lagged a little - we received our main course at about 20 minutes t midnight - we had been seated since 9:45 PM. I would like to dine there again when it is not a holiday, to give service a fair chance ...... Thanks! It was an all around positive and enjoyable experience! TT

I attended the 9pm seating, and at times, my fingertips were numb from the temperature. This made dinner a bit uncomfortable to get through. I do not consider a table with antipasto the same as butlered hors dourves, that was my first disappointment. My scallop was cold and slightly over cooked as though it had been sitting on a warmer for a while before being served. The Lobster Bisque was tasty but salty and contained very little lobster. The Sea Bass was excellent, as was the Filet. Dessert was horrible; fortunately, there were chocolate covered strawberries to save the store bought dessert table. I was extremely disappointed with the dessert table, aside from the strawberries everything tasted like it was mass-produced

I've been to many high priced restaurants and the food at Water Works, I feel, was a bit overpriced for the quality and the portion sizes. I went on New Year's Eve and the menu was Prix fixe, so perhaps I was paying more for the Holiday than for the food. On the website, they advertised there would be a live band. Well, the live band started playing 10 minutes before we left...so I didn't get a chance to enjoy. The service was excellent - very attentive.

Great restaurant for a special occasion. (proposal in my case). Beautiful views in the solarium overlooking boathouse row (which is lit up in green and red at Christmas). We sampled a lot of things and really enjoyed pretty much everything. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and it was excellent. The whole meal including a nice bottle of wine, and gratuity came in at right about 200 dollars. Which is worth it in my opinion. Good eats, great service, and beautiful view.

    Dined on 12/14/2008
This restaurant has changed their brunch format. Previously they had an excellent brunch with features that set it apart. This past week they had one long table with the omelette station first. This created a log jam since there is waiting involved for the omelettes. Next is the waffle maker which also involcves waiting. Neither offered to have the prepared food delivered to the table which would make for more efficient serving. The omelettes were undercooked, the onions were raw and crunchy and the mushrooms were not cooked at all. The waffles were soggy. the chicken was dry and tasteless. I didn't try anything else. For brunch in Philadelphia go to LaCroix or XIX or the Art Museum. Waterworks is a waste.

Our group of 7 had a fantastic time-it was my 2nd time (I had been for lunch) and wanted my friends & family to experience it for dinner. I was a bit concerned about the lrg. Dining room being too loud, but was surprised by the amt of people in there and you didn't have to yell to hear everyone at our table. I was excited that we were seated around a round & not a long table. The food was delicious, such wonderful cuts of meat and fish. The wines were tasty to the palate and we've already looked them up to purchase them on our own. The service was flawless and impeccable-extremely attentive and knowledgeable with menu, wines, etc. I know the cost for some will be scary, but it is well worth it!

Good not great. Food and service didn't live up to the lofty prices this restaurant charges. And, I am not shy about paying for value. Cocktails took long enough to deliver that we both noticed the length of time. Lollipop lamb chop appetizer was excellent and the bisque was very good. One entree had to be returned because the mahi was undercooked. Dessert was very good. Our biggest disappointment was our location. We felt like we were seated in a corner opposite the best views the restaurant had to offer -- the river. The dining room was not at all crowded, in fact another party that was seated adjacent to us was relocated (their request?) to a table in an area with a river view.

    Dined on 11/30/2008
The Sunday brunch was excellent, though at $35 plus drinks it's a bit too pricey to return too often. My only complaint was the service, which was overattentive to the point of being annoying. There appeared to be 3 waiters working our table (which is at least 1 if not 2 too many) and any time anyone got up from the table, a waiter rushed over to refold their napkin back onto the table. Pu-leeze! Just leave it alone! And they also push their bottled water too hard, showing you their pricey bottled water list and then saying 'but of course you can drink the tap water from the Schuylkill River instead' (i.e., if you dare). Then like wine somelliers, they over-pour the water constantly so you're pressured to buy another one. Arrrgh!

Dinner at Waterworks is an experience and it should be done at least once in a lifetime. The service is impressive without being pushy and servers were able to aid diners with palate decriptions of entrees that were on target. The atmosphere and lighting are appropriate although perhaps a little too pushy on the romance aspect. The spread appetixer was a taste rollercoaster stimulating every part of the tongue. The best couscous in Philly and the pieces of lobster were divine. Not a fan of the foam but the presentation was great. Portions were good but for those who like to eat you might need a snack afterwards or before you go.
