A word from The Boon Fly Cafe - The Carneros Inn
Named for a Carneros pioneer who planted orchards and vineyards in the mid-1800s, the lively Boon Fly Café offers an ideal gathering place for friends and families. The ultimate in comfort foods, open early morning for a hearty breakfast and homemade bakery items - including our signature Boon Fly donuts - the Café also offers tasty lunches and a wide variety of everyone's favorite modern Americana dinners. All of our menus feature modern rustic cuisine based on the agricultural heritage of the region. While you’re building up your appetite, you are invited to mingle with other visitors, or enthusiasts, at our wine bar while comparing Carneros selections with those of other regions. Otherwise you’re always welcome to just wile away a bit of the afternoon in comfortable surroundings.

The fresh donuts are a staple at breakfast but fortunately show up on the dessert menu as well. The fried chicken is not "Southern-style" but it is some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. Always a relaxed atmosphere and well worth a visit if you're in the Carneros area.

The food and service were mediocre. The worst was there special donuts dessert. We were seated late and were served bits and pieces of fried donut batter. Nothing resembling a donut! Special dipping sauce tasted like warm Hersheys syruup. We sould definitely not return when we are back in the Napa Sonoma Area....

This is a neat place. Small and casual, decorated in urban industrial. Food is comfort style food. Wines by the glass were limited and not well selected-this is surprising especially since this is smack in the middle of wine country.

Boonfly Cafe is attached to the high end Carneros property, but you wouldn't know it from the prices. The food is totally down home and delicious, especially the char-broiled burger and the fried chicken. It is very casual, but nice and the staff right on down to the bussers are friendly and accomodating. Special requests don't throw them at all! A little hard to get to, but worth it once you find it!

Don't judge a book by its cover. This restaurant from the outside seemed a little subdued … until we walked in. The restaurant was surprisingly elegant yet not over done. The wine list was fantastic our server was very knowledgeable and was able to give great recommendations. The menu had a little something for everyone; Kobe burger’s, Fried Chicken to a Carbonara that was mouth watering. My girlfriends and I could not decide on a single item to we ordered several different things to share. One of the highlights was talking with the General Manager about some of his favorite Pinot Noir’s and 5 minutes later he had brought out 3 glasses for us to try. Our dining experience could not have been better.

Boon Fly is my favorite place in the Napa/Sonoma area for the charming ambiance, laid back (but attentive) servers and small but enticing menu. The onion rings are to die for and my butter lettuce wedge salad was awesome. Don't miss the warm, fresh cinnamon coated donuts at breakfast, either.

Been to the Boon Fly in the past few years and enjoyed it. Like the ambiance and the food. Things are different. Ordered the wedge of butter lettuce (best thing about the meal) and the baby back ribs--sauce on the side. They were coated with some incredibly hot cayenne pepper that destroyed the flavor of the meat. The fingerling potatoes with arugula and green garlic sauce was just plain weird. It tasted like pickle juice was poured over it and everything was green. There was only ONE waitress for the entire place and a busboy. Never saw much of her after ordering. The other thing that was incredibly annoying was the canned music that consisted of fusion jazz--like Coltrane on a bad day. The "manager" said it was the only choice. Fini

A preset menu was provided as a Valentine Day special. The first two courses were great. I was a bit disappointed with the dessert. The creme brule was a little gritty. The service was wonderful and attentive. The environment was calm clean and charming. The tables are pretty close together so it was easy to hear the neighboring guest's conversations. I would certainly go back again.

Both the food and the service were wonderful. Light menu that features creative sandwiches, first courses and appetizers of great quality. The room looks great, and the mangers and servers are friendly and professional. Lots of locals as well as hotel guests. Small wine list - very fairly priced with lots of Carneros wines from Vineyards right around the property.

The dining room was much smaller than I expected however they were able to acommodate our group of 8. The food your standard American fare (burgers, mac & cheese, etc) but sophisticated. The red barn look was very cute! Although there were no kids, I assume it would be good for kids as the menu features kid favorites! The only thing was they were reluctant to split the check. The restaurant was empty so it's not like we were keeping them away from a busy dining room...

We had a great casual meal after a day of wine tasting in the Carneros region. We were seated immediately, and our server didn't flinch when we only ordered soft drinks with our meal. The portions were large and filling, and the prices were reasonable for the Napa area. We had the Angus burgers that were cooked as ordered and split a tasty apple crisp ala mode for dessert. Although the restaurant was small, there was plenty of space between the tables. We will definitely eat there again the next time we are in the Napa Valley.

We were there on a weeknight; food and atmosphere are casual. The carrot ginger soup was excellent; as was the butter lettuce wedge. The Pizza Margherita had a nice crust and flavor but would have benefited from being on a warm plate -- it was cool after one slice.

Food was good, service was good, except we were billed $16 for 2 bottles of sparkling water. We were not aware that the charge would be that high. We expected maybe $4 to $5 bucks per bottle not $8 per bottle. No big name brand just plain old sparkling water. The entres were only $8 to $20 p/p, so it seemed high for water and we were not informed by the waiter in advance. Everything else was good. Not sure I would go back.

The Boon Fly Cafe is down-home comfort food in a relaxed setting. Personally, I love this type of menu... nothing too fancy, just well presented tasty food. Their menu items were fun too: Mac and Cheese, Kobe Beef Burgers, and Mini Donuts with a Chocolate Dipping Sauce... like I said, FUN!! Go with people you can relax with and have a great time with. There's nothing stuffy about this place and the wait staff is engaging ... their goal is to appease your every need. My suggestion is to give it a try. It really was a fun evening for us.
