I had the jambalaya, which was great. Most places load up on the rice and are stingy with the chicken, shrimp & sausage. That certainly wasn't the case here. The spices were also just right. Will definitely order this again. My husband had the crab cake entree and enjoyed it as well.

The food was good although the menu has limited dinner entrees. I had the Mahi Mahi which was quite good but the portion a tad small. One of my party had the hot roast beef sandwich and said it was the best since the one she had with her husband in Hawaii many years ago. But note that both she and her companion opted for sandwiches not an entree. Service was fine for the restaurant. Basically, it's an Irish pub with a dining room for those who prefer conversation. As such, it does quite well.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2011

I've had dinner there several times and have always been happy with my food (sometimes just satisfied, sometimes quite impressed). I had the mahi mahi this last time, and it was really good. Didn't care for the veggie of the day, and they subbed broccoli. Wish that had not cost $2 more, but oh well. My biggest complaint was that I was seated in such a way that the sun was RIGHT in my eyes for most of the meal. I had to sit way against the wall to avoid it. I could hardly even see the friend I was dining with, which was frustrating since it was our first visit in ten years. Seems they should do a better job with shades, or where they seat people. But overall, it was good, much better once the sun moved toward the end of my meal.

  • The online reservation process
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 4/15/2011
The online reservation process was simple and we were seated right when we checked in. The staff was great, they were all very friendly and warm. The food service was very quick we had our main entreee's just about the same time we finished our appitizer. I had the crab cakes, which were good and my wife had the ribeye steak which wasn't as good. It looked like it was cooked then re-warmed in a microwave not something i would expect from the price tag associated with it. All in all it was a decent meal and would recommend it to friends.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 11/19/2010
This is a great lunch spot, good food reasonably priced. Ahppy Hour noise is tooloud in the dning area. we couldn't hear our own conversation without raising our voices. Although the wait seemed to be long, the entire dinner- form seating to leaving- was just over an hour, so it did not take as long as it seemd. Perhaps due to the noise level. the menu, while of high quality, is better suited for lunch or a light dinner. Service is always friendly here.

  • The lobster bake was good,
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 8/6/2010
The lobster bake was good, but the overall experience was only fair. I had made a reservation by computer which seemed to confuse the six people standing around the hostess stand. They acted as if they were doing us a favor by seating us. They gave us a booth right next to the very loud bar and refused to reseat us on request even though all the booths on the other side of the room were empty and before we left were occupied by other couples. It was so loud we were unable to carry on a conversation or hear what the waitress was saying. It took an unusually long time to receive the bill.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

The food at McGlynn's is consistently good, but the service at our last visit was less than stellar. Ordered a second round of drinks, and only half came. Waiter forgot to submit one person's dinner with kitchen - so that person had to eat after everyone else had finished. Will still return, but ask for a different server.

This was a business lunch. We frequently reserve at this restaurant because you can always count on the consistency of good service and food. Business guests are always impressed with the food and atmosphere. The 12Noon hour is the busiest, so it is best to avoid that time slot if possible because the noise level can be overwhelming for conversation. About 1PM the silence is welcomed. The salads are great; I've had them all. The sandwiches are also wonderful. You will never be dissappointed with anything on the menu. You will definitely never leave hungry.

The restaurant side was closed so we had to sit in the bar area. IT was my Mother-In-Law's 83rd birthday and we couldn't hear. It was a Monday night 7/19 and the bar crowd was very loud. It was not enjoyable. Soup was warm, food OK.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 6/7/2010
My friend and I each ordered the Nacho Grande appetizers, half order. We both thought, after lunch, that we should have requested one order and shared them as it was a huge plate of food. Our critique of the Nacho Grande is that they were nothing special, not much chili, not much cheese, not much lettuce, not much tomato, but pleny of chips. Another friend had her sandwich on the pretzel roll and loved it. The service was great. Our server gave us (party of 4, staggered arrivals) plenty of time to get settled once we were all there before taking our orders. She was pleasant and courteous. It was a delight to enjoy the meal on the front patio.

Atmosphere was a bit noisy but the view of the lake was fantastic. Recomend making your reservation online to request a scenic view. Our booth was reserved for us and had no waiting time to be seated. Food was excellent. I highly recommend the Flat Iron steak cooked medium to retain the juices and flavor. The service was a bit slow but it was at 12:15 at the peak of the lunch rush. It is a great place to bring out of town family and friends.

Loved the environment of the room with all the old world feel of the woodwork and open areas and the view of the lake was wonderful. The food was good and there was an excellent variety of healthy meals to choose from. The wait staff were friendly but not very knowledgable of the specials. Overall it was a possitive experience but it was extremely noisy so if you are in a party mood great but if looking for a romantic dinner maybe not such a good choice.

Our lunch was fine, it's hard to ruin a salad. Previous visits have been so-so. I can not eat processed food and many items on the menu are "vendor" made. The beef is overly salty, a clear indication that it is not good quality. Service is always good, the noise level always extreme, and the view of Silver Lake also great. If I want a reasonable place to take friends it fits the bill.
