Circa 59 is a beautiful restaurant in every way. I enjoyed the chicken pesto panini with house salad and my husband enjoyed the lobster cobb salad, sans lobster. Although it took over one hour to receive our food from the time we placed our order (and the restaurant was not busy), we had a very enjoyable lunch. The service was rather slow and unattentive but the staff was very pleasant during the brief moments of interaction.

We expected a decent dining experience before we arrived because of what friends had told us, but never expected such a superior dining experience. Elegant, relaxing, satisfying. One personal recommendation would be to have more soothing music - appropriate to dining - in the dining areas; not the same music that is piped throughout the entire hotel.

My party had a wonderful time at Circa59 on Saturday afternoon. We all had a taste of the Lobster Mac and Cheese and we all agreed it was terrific. My lobster cobb salad was a bit heavy and wilted. My friend had the tacos and said they were delicious. The BLT salad was presented beautifully and my mother loved it. We all loved the atmosphere. There were tons of people around the pool which gave things an energetic and fun feeling. I will definitely go back.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2009

The atmosphere is excellent, the remodel that they did that took about two years was well worth the wait. It is done in Palm Springs modern with extra upscale decorating touches. The poolside dining is great , the menu was good. At our lunch there were three of us and the opinion on the food ranged from good to excellent based on the dishes we ordered. The real downer to the whole experience was the bad service. We were seated about 20 minutes before we first saw our waiter and that is only after I had asked the busboy if we had a server working in our area. Even when we finally had a visit from our server the service was still inconsistent and slow. I had been warned of this from other friends that have visited. Food good ,service bad !

  • After we declined a seat outdoors

After we declined a seat outdoors on the patio (too cold) we were seated inside next to a patio door which was broken and stuck in the open position. (too cold) We asked to moved again and were then seated next to the kitchen. As the restaurant was almost completely empty, we went back to the hostess and finally were re-seated in a comfortable (temp wise) place. Martini and a brandy old fashioned were perfectly made. A steak was wonderful. Halibut was slightly overcooked and the portion was pretty small. The service was good and not intrusive. The decor is very interesting inside, and outside looked like a great place for dinner on a warmer night. The restaurant is in a resort hotel and the lobby bar was lots of fun.

    Dined on 1/29/2009
Circa 59 is simply the best restaurant I have visited in Palm Springs ever and among the best I have visited anywhere over the past several years. The menu has several seafood dishes and a few beef dishes, so the selection is not extensive but what they do serve is fantastic. The ambiance is ultra-Palm Springs cool with the tables just off the pool.

Too many servers but not much service. A different face for every job; bringing water, bread, taking the order, bringing the order, removing the plates, etc... but at no time did anyone ask how was my meal. Not horrible but not that good thanks to an unedible side of starchy, lukewarm "cheesy mashed potatoes".

We had dinner at Crica 59 on Jan 1st, 2009. We had a 9 pm reservation. Our meal was going fine until we were made to wait 45 MINUTES for our entree. I tipped the waiter $5.00 and wrote on the ticket: "A poorly timed meal is always the waiter's fault." We asked to speak with the restaurant manager but he never showed up. The terrible service ruined our meal. We will do not recommend eating at this restaurant--especially with so many other choices in Palm Springs.

The service was poor at best. The waiter was forgetful, unattentive and sloooooow. The food was bland and not very exciting as would be expected from a resort of this level. I have had regular dissapointing experiences at the Riviera. Several disappointing experiences at the Bikini bar as well. Mostly around service. The hotel needs to tackle service, empower the employees to make good decisions regarding service and require a higher level of service excellence after all it is the Riviera not a Best Western.

New Year's Eve is probably not the best time to try a restaurant in a resort that just opened a few weeks before, but this was not bad. The food was good but not great. They have a competent chef and I’m sure the quality will ramp up to his capabilities in short order. The ambiance in this very well done mid-century revival resort is like I remember the best of the fifties and early sixties only with an edge that works throughout the property. I’ll be back often for the food and the fun.

We could have asked for nothing more! All was superb, starting with the valet parking staff. One of our party had recently had back surgery and needed to use a walke, which was in the car's trunk. This offered no "special" problem to the staff, who simply seemed to retrieve it, set it up, re-close the trunk, and ask if we needed help negotiating the curb (mentioned because there are many upscale places here who either don't know what to do at all or go make such fawning attention that the handicapped person is embarrassed.) The hostess also seated us adeptly, recognizing the special needs (the walker) and appropriately suggesting a table vs banquette. Food, service and ambience were superlative on all counts! We'll return - often!

What this restaurant lacks in food it makes up for in ambiance. Its a delightful smorgasbord for the eyes. Very dramatic and romantic. There are fire pits in the outside seating area, which overlooks the the gorgeous pool. The scene is very trendy. A great place for lunch or appetizers w/ drinks before dinner but dinner itself was a huge disappointment. The food was boring and not prepared well. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel. The service was impeccable. The lobby and hallway leading to the restaurant are something to see. The entire hotel is a work of art. It only reopened a few months ago, so there are still some kinks being worked out, but this place is the start of something fabulous for Palm Springs.

The new remodel of the restaurant and the hotel is a must see, must go. The service was wonderful from the minute you step out of your car you are treated like royalty. The salmon and halibut are really tasty dishes. It's a beautiful setting that's very chic and romantic. The fire pits are lovely and the red chandeliers hanging over the curtained dining tables are awesome. It's a bit dark sitting on the patio but they provide little night lights to read the menu. Circa59, part of the newly renovated Palm Spring Riviera Resort, is a swank new place to dine in our neighborhood. We are delighted about that. Service throughout the resort seems to be lacking, though, and needs some urgent attention. As for the Circa59 food: excellent! I was ticked that they were not able to prepare the beet salad on the menu and was told that long after I ordered it, again that's a service issue. The preparation of my wild salmon was superb as was the presentation. The lobster mac & cheese that I tasted from my partner's plate was outstanding. Even my Caesar salad was excellent. Lighting was ridiculously low. Our entire table staff seemed unsure of themselves and our server was slow and a bit too conversational.

The staff was very attentive without being over bearing. Our waiter was perfect, very knowledgeable and educated. Additional staff came over throughout the dinner to make sure we're OK, that was great. The staff is very personable. After dinner we had a cocktail by the pool, a great way to end the evening. Glad to know we now have a place to go to so close to home...we'll be regulars.

This place has been open for 4 days and I've already been there twice. The food was perfect which is fantastic considering it just opened. I recommend the Pork Belly, Composed Sock-Eye Salmon, Lobster Pot Pie, and Composed Red Snapper. The BLT salad with sugared bacon and jalapeno ranch was overly chunky and clumsy but still tasted good, for what I ate. The service was fine and will continue to improve as the young staff gets more comfortable. Overall, those visiting the desert would be making a huge mistake not visiting this new restaurant. It is rare in the Palm Springs to find food so confident, unique and delicious. It now sits on a very short list.
