The evening we spent at La Toque was absolutely fantastic. The server we had was very knowledgeable and catered to us the whole evening. We enjoyed his outstanding service. Too bad, we cannot remember his name. The food and the wine was also outstanding and to be able to look into their kitchen was more than interesting. We brought our own wine, as they did not have the Dumol on their list and we just visited the owner of Dumol on business. We invited the sommelier to taste the Dumol with us, which we think he appreciated.

We had a wonderful meal at La Toque We had a table that had a view of the kitchen through a glass window and it was nice to see a well-known chef, Ken Frank, take a hands on approach in the kitchen. You can see everyone paying attention to detail The result was superlative food in everyway - taste, presentation, freshness, composition. I truly enjoyed the foie gras, skate, and pork confit which made up my three-course meal. The wine list was also impressive with a good representation of local wines. The recommended wines went very well with the dishes we tried. I would go back there again and again and again. The entire meal, including wine, was well-worth the price because everything was of superior quality.

We enjoyed it very much. The food was very interesting and delicious and the wait staff was great. All the employees were very friendly which was really nice. So many times at high end restaurants the employees are uptight and unfriendly which always puts me off. The atmosphere was very nice too- kudos to the new location. We are local people and wish them well.

The food was really wonderful overall. The amuse bouche -an incredible goat cheese gnocchi and artichoke slices. I could have had that for a meal. I also had the chicken ballantine with mushrooms and truffles. It was very nicely cooked and presented but the mushroom sauce was overly salty and the truffle was lost. The olive oil cake and lemon dessert was excellent - light and luxurious. The chocolate, banana dessert was good but heavier and for us at that point, just too rich. A bit over priced - two of us ate for $175 with three courses and one glass of wine and it wasn't that much food. I loved the old location, it was so romantic and cozy - this is a bit more sterile and modern, lacking the warmth of the other location.

What a disappointment. We had planned La Taque as a special dinner and got nothing special. For the service and food quality, the prices are FAR too high. The waiter kept SAYING he hoped we'd return, but the overall experience all but ensures we'll never come back. This crew should remember that actions speak louder than words. I felt like the management was trying to wring as much money as possible from a reputation that is starting to tarnish. I wish Ken Frank has scaled back to a more simple place with extraordinary food as opposed to building something I would expect to find in Las Vegas.

We went for the 4-course with wine pairings. I think if you are going to splurge on a dinner at La Toque, you *have* to do the wine pairings. I felt the portions were perfect for me but too much for my wife. The wine pairings, at $16 a pour (and these are just pours...) was a bit steep. But at $128 for our wine pairings, I guess it is about what you would end up paying for a bottle in any case. But it felt a bit strange to pay $64 for the wine pairings and $88 for the meal (per person). It was a bit of a shock seeing the final bill, especially since they add 20% gratuity on by default... but the experience was well worth it and the new location is certainly impressive. The only questionable part of my meal was the cheddar tapioca...

I am marking off "Hot Spot" early because it is so obviously going to become one. A group of four of us recently had dinner on the outdoor patio on one of those amazingly pleasant November evenings and it was lovely. I have eaten inside as well and the room is very elegant, yet comfortable. The food was absolutely wonderful and creative without being frilly or overwrought. I do not eat meat, however, all of my cohorts do and the raved about the ribeye, lamb, and duck. A number of us had similar fish and vegetarian dished. The porcini ravioli is delightful. The bay scallops with root vegetables were so fabulous we all just wanted HUGE plates as we were in love. I also love the spinach soup with lobster. Wonderful!!

Very tasty. But, in the land of foie gras and duck confit and seared ahi, it was not exactly remarkable cuisine; there are a number of restaurants in the Napa Valley that have comparable food. Maybe I'm jaded.

We have enjoyed a wonderful experience EVERY time we have visited La Toque. The move to Napa has now made it a "neighborhood" restaurant for us. The food is creative, spectacular and always a meal that we talk about long after we've left. Ken works closely with Scott to be certain the wine pairings never miss. We are ALWAYS surprised at some of the pairings .. but they always enhance the food experience. We LOVE La Toque .. the Chef, the food, the staff are exceptional. Debi & David

The experience at La Toque was more than we expected. We read the previous mixed reviews but decided to go for our special evening. The reservation was for 8:30 and we were seated on time. We started the evening with an exceptional glass of champagne and then had the four course dinner and wine pairing. The food and the wine was over the top. We based one of our course choices on the wines to try a California and a French Chardonney. We did not have to wait between courses and the size of the courses was just the right size, we were full after the meal.

It has been a few years since we dined at La Toque. They were actually in the old location last time we were there. As far as memorable, it was right up there with the French Laundry as for dining experience. The food was wonderful once again. The wine list was fabulous. I must admit that I miss the ambiance of the old location. I suppose it depends on what you're looking for on a visit to Napa. I look for old world charm.

The new La Toque is very nice. The space is less intimate than the old location, but it doesn't feel contrived. It leans toward the institutional design with bathrooms down the hall where the hotel gests also share them. The service, on the other hand, is not where it needs to be. Our waiter gave us that offensive artificially friendly service. The sommelier was well informed but a bit jumpy. Food was quite good but seriously overpriced. Our party opted for the wine pairings and they were good but the overall cost of the meal was breathtaking. At half the price I would consider going back. Let's hope these are the early pains of relocating that will disappear.

The outdoor setting was unexpected but really nice (they have a fireplace and heaters). The food was great. You can chose 2, 3 or 4-course meal and the size of each portion is adjusted so you have enough "room" to appreciate them all. Large variety in the menu and the wine list while not long is of high quality. The service was impeccable. The food delicious. You can find foie gras, frog legs and also more "traditional" dishes.

It's clear that the group is new to the space. We waited 50 minutes after being seated to receive bread! They were indeed busy, but we had made reservations far in advance. The food was okay . . .nothing stellar . . . certainly nothing to compare to French Laundry, Redd, Ubuntu, or Cyrus. There was not enough attention paid to specific ingredients. For example, the Warm Autumn Forager's Salad was a pile of mixed vegetables and absolutely nothing stood out. I was also a bit suprised that none of my 4 wine pairings were local (3 French and 1 Oregon) . . .it would certainly seem that at least one would be local given the Napa location!

Outstanding experience. Incredible meal - defiantely one of the best we've ever had - although if you are not an "adventurous" diner you may not enjoy it quite as much as we did. Very unusual combinations of flavors that are exciting and send your taste buds for a loop. There are some "tamer" items on the menu, but I love going for the more outrageous selections. The service was unbelievable with high attention to detail. I highly recommend this restaurant and hope to return for another meal soon.

They started off seating my party of 4 on the patio next to a loud group of 14. We asked to be moved inside which the did. They sat us a booth that was very hard to come and go from. When you have a 4 course dinner it takes over two hours and the booth was a waste of space for this type of resturant. When we were on the patio we sat for at least 15 minutes with no serve at all. After we moved inside we sat for another 15 minutes. All this time we had nothing to drink other then water. We final went to the bar and bought a bottle of bubbles. The brought the wine and the bill to the table and tacked on a service charge. No class shown there at all. After we ordered the service did improve. The food and wine pairing was very good. I do

The sommelier (a young Japapese-American) took his time to explain each wine and the reasons for its pairing. His knowledge and service made this one of the most memorable dining experiences of any that we have experienced in the U.S or Europe. Oh yes, the food. Imaginative, creative, and fresh. And excellent. The restaurant just moved in early Sep. 2008 to the Napa Westin Hotel from its Rutherford location.

The food at the restaurant was fabulous, the evening felt like a special occasion event. The wine selection was top notch but we felt the wine prices per glass were high. While we don't mind spending money on wonderful food and wine, spending $18. on a 3 oz. glass of wine felt like too much. I would rather have purchased a bottle at the full equivalent.
