Does not hold up with the other tappa spots in town. The portions are small. The shrimp and scallop dish had a half of each, half a scallop and half a shrimp. The happy hour prices for the sangria applied only to the bar, which is where we were seated. Twice they came out with dishes we did not order.

After having lived in Spain, it's natural to have high expectations for Spanish food. The Bodega did a good, but not great job, in its tapas. The calamari and shrimp in garlic were the best of the group; the meatballs were okay, but not notable; the spinach good, but drenched in too much liquid. The biggest disappointment was in the "ensaladilla rusa" which both lacked flavor and featured potatoes that weren't completely cooked through. The portions, however, were fair, so that four tapas were enough for two people; five, almost too much. The service was excellent, as our waiter was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. The atmosphere was a breath of fresh air for M street in Georgetown. Here's hoping that the quality will improve.

Three of us went last Sunday for brunch. We were given a quick tour of this new restaurant by the server who was a really friendly guy with a nice manner. We liked the decor very much - particularly the back bar - kind of a very modern south western/Spanish. In my experience this is very unusual theme for DC. The food (Tapas) was very good value for money and all tasted fresh. Tapas are all the rage these days and i think that this restaurant will do well. Great location too. The music played over the PA is worth mentioning too - good stuff!

Bodega has great decor and feels very Spanish however... We sampled about 6 different tapas and all were poor quality. The calamari was dry and rubbery. The grilled octopus tasted like charred grill. The mussels tasted as if they had been prepared earlier in the day and just heated up. Actually all of the tapas had that feel. The beef was overcooked and tough. The wines by the glass selection was poor. You would expect with so many good, affordable Spanish wines that they would have a better selection but one of their highlights was a wine you can find at Rodman's for under $10. If you want good tapas, stick with Jaleo's.

The combination of savory Spanish dishes, a festive yet cozy ambiance and very reasonable prices makes this Georgetown restaurant an unbeatable destination for a group or romantic meal. From the olives and manchego cheese to the serrano ham, from the Spanish tortilla to the garlic shrimp, the tapas offerings were varied but not overly exotic. The paella was very acceptable, tasting of both the saffron and the chorizo. The crema caramel was passable, lacking a richer pudding taste. I would recommend this restaurant to any an all seeking a pleasant adventure and good food in a Spanish tapas bar.

Both the tapas and paella were very good. We ordered the garlic shrimp, scallops and patatas bravas and they were great. The patatas bravas were a little spicier than I've had, but tasty. The paella was one of the best that I've tasted. We ordered the chicken/chorizo and added shrimp to it for an extra charge (the waitress told us that it would be $5.00 extra, but it ended up being $7.00 extra, which isn't a big deal). The only issue that we had was that we were initially overcharged for the paella. When we brought it to the manager's attention, he immediately corected it, though. We would definitely go back to try it again.

All the tapas were great. The Paellas was not that good. The atmosphere was fantastic. I got alot of compliments from friends for choosing this restaurant. Large groups won't be able to have a conversation - you'll only be able to hear the couple of people next to you. But with the sangrias and great food - great place to have a fun evening.

Food was good. Decor was really inviting and warm. I realize tapas are supposed to be smaller portions but I felt Bodega's were comparably smaller than other tapas bars in the DC area. Just a suggestion. I felt $8 or $9 was a lot for some of the tapas we ordered.
