    1. Wrong dish brought, rude staff. 2. Grilled fish, dish of the day, was cold, not even warm, no taste. 3. Scallop dish cost about $20, only appetizer portion.

Hello! We celebrated a reunion of friends from the US and Canada at 1906 on Saturday 8/1/2014. Several of our friends had not been to the Gardens; we are members. We had a fantastic lunch and were able to relax a bit between our garden outings. The food, preparation with local sources, presentation and atmosphere are unmatched. The service is top notch, while your staff is friendly and approachable. We will be returning to 1906 for special occasions (or a treat after a Garden tour!) very soon. Thank you so much!

Longwood raises the bar high for everything it does, but I felt not the case with the 1906 room. I had asked for a special table to celebrate an anniversary and not the case, service at the table could have been better as to water refills, timeliness of service.

So many so-called fine restaurants are opting out of tablecloths (cheaper, you know) so I'm glad 1906 remains distinctive. A case in point: Hotel Hershey went to a more casual atmosphere but stellar prices remain. It is no longer a special place to dine anymore. I always look for a restaurant with tablecloths. Thank you 1906.

Upscale restaurant at Longwood Gardens. We opted for the 3-course chef's menu ($35 per person). You don't know what you'll get; each course is a surprise. The 2 of us were served different food at each course. Amuse bouche, then cold cucumber soup and (hot) mushroom soup, with side salads of unusual greens, cheese, fruit garnishes. Main courses: 5 very large scallops, 8 oz. halibut steak. All cooked perfectly. Sides: couscous and polenta. Desserts: 3 house-made sorbets and peach mousse. Many of the ingredients were from Longwood Gardens' vegetable/herb patch. Quality of the food, sophistication of the recipes, and artistry of the presentation rivaled the (few) five-star restaurants at which I've dined. Highly recommend for foodies.

We went for an early dinner and this worked to great advantage. Our server was efficient and knowledgeable, the food was very delicious and served with just the right timing. We enjoyed the complimentary bite of cherry tomato with cuke salad, and the perfect popover in the "flower pot". The wine list was more than adequate and the peach sangria I chose was perfect for the warm weather. The view of Longwood out the spacious windows is an extra..I ordered 2 appetizers instead of 1 entrée and was more than satisfied at the perfect amount. Cool smooth cucumber soup, and chicken salad with a few fried oysters was excellent. My husband had steak perfectly cooked with a lovely sauce and fresh salad-and we enjoyed the panna cotta VERY much.

The mushroom soup was outstanding! We both ordered the sirloin which was cooked perfectly and the small sample of herb tea and a scone which was provided was a very nice touch. On the negative side, the menu was a bit limited and it was a bit on the pricy side. I think next time we may try the buffet in the café.

We enjoyed a delightful morning at Longwood Gardens followed by an equally delightful lunch at 1906. The menu offered interesting and varied selections and the setting was pleasant and relaxing. The service was helpful, and efficient without making us feel rushed and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend 1906 either before or after a stroll through the lovely Longwood Gardens.

My friend and I spent the day at Longwood Gardens...it was perfect. Dining here for lunch just added to our overall experience. The food was outstanding! We had delicious bread served in a flower pot and enjoyed our mushroom soup immensely. I had eggplant panini and my friend had the burger. Both were delicious. Too full for dessert but enjoyed our white sangria's with our meals. If weather permits, you will want to dine on the big patio deck. It was Lovely! Looking forward to dining here again next time. The chef does a great job of preparing food one doesn't see everyday. There is always a little touch of something that makes the dish unusual and delicious. Really enjoyed the free starting dish. The meal can be expensive, but we managed to keep the bill under $100 for two people including tip. We skipped wine with dinner and shared a salad. We both had nice deserts. Following dinner we went to the open air theater to see the show "Annie" performed by the Brandywiners. We were blessed with great weather (low humidity and about 80 degrees F ). We left Longwood Gardens that evening feeling very relaxed and extremely satisfied with our day .

We started our tour of Longwood Gardens at 9:30 AM and ended with a lunch in the 1906 restaurant. Our meal was lovely. The high points were the special fresh bean appetizer and the chilled cucumber soup. Our waitress was wonderful and without our asking, she divided the meal that my daughter and I were sharing on to separate plates. Very classy! We were too stuffed to try the desserts and will have to wait until our next visit for that. The room was lovely with views outside. I would highly recommend 1906!

Such an amazing gift to my mother, 97, who loves nature but is blind, and who used to be a master chef. All of our family, from California, Colorado, New York, and Brazil come regularly, and are able to find a peaceful, beautiful place where the scent of flowers and trees are with us everywhere. Indoors and outdoors, my mother, who is wheelchair bound now, can gently feel the petals, the leaves, the bark...and remember. Then we are able to go into one of the finest restaurants we know, and eat at our leisure, talk easily despite the size of our group, and choose to fill ourselves with incredible, perfectly made meals. Every sense is filled in just the way we love it when we visit Longwood and 1906.

The 1906 restaurant is an excellent spot for a special occasion. Service is attentive but not intrusive. The atmosphere is quiet...one can actually have a conversation in a normal tone of voice...imagine that! Needless to say the walk around Longwood is also a great way to relax and enjoy a fine summer evening. The food was very good...fine presentation and prepared as expected. It would have been ok if the steak was a tad smaller but it was prepared just right. Overall great time and excellent dinner.

We loved everything about 1906, but if I could change one thing? The music playing was Jazz. I love almost all types of music, but jazz is quite irritating to those of us who don't 'get' it. Even though it was playing softly, I was so aware of it and wishing I didn't have to be listening to it.

Best mushroom soup out there! Wait staff are pleasant and intelligent. Creative, delicious food on all my lunch and dinner visits, beautiful desserts which are thankfully not huge. Atmosphere is quiet and gentle. Outside deck in he woods is idyllic, no squirrels, no insects. If young kids are with you, there is a great cafeteria. Iif you are all older than 12 and appreciate cuisine other than burgers and fries, dine with pleasure at 1906.

We belong to Longwood Gardens so dine here fairly often. The staff is always wonderful and goes out of their way to accommodate every guest. For example I had had a special cocktail on last visit which I could not remember and our waitress ask us what date that had been and went and ask bartenders to see if they remembered. She even got a copy of the prior special cocktail list for me. This was so above and beyond my expectation but it was like a mystery hunt for her to try and figure this out for me. The food is all excellent and prepared from local growers which are listed on the menu. But you must order the fabulous chocolate pot for desert!!! The presentation is so creative and you will love it!

I love the variety and quality of food that 1906 offers. You can always count on something different and seasonal that the chef has created. You can also always count on regional based foods like the best mushroom soup ever. Everything that our party of 5 had was terrific. Two of the 5 found vegan dishes that were perfect for them. I splurged and had the Flower Pot for desert, an all edible creation that is as outstanding to look at as well as to eat. I was awed by the chocolate Flower Pot, couldn't be any better!

Longwood Gardens is one of my favorite places. Sometimes I just have soup and salad in the Cafe. But there are times I want to sit down to a delectable lunch. This time we had a zucchini appetizer that was excellent. Then we shared the Farm Salad and the lunch special, Angel Hair with chunks of crab tossed in a very light cream sauce...to die for food. In all my years as a Longwood member, I have never had a bad or mediocre meal. The service is also impeccable. To walk the gardens, have a slow, leisurely lunch, then walk around some more...a perfect recipe for a perfect day. As I had gone kayaking at Marsh Creek and eaten breakfast on the lake...a lovely day.
