The new sushi chef is terrific! I've suggested adding more "live style" sushi (hotate, uni, lobster). Our waitress, Alexandra, was also outstanding, and very nice to my 9 year old daughter.

I live in Media, PA and frequent Teikoku's sister restaurant, Azie. Azie is a recent installment in Media and perhaps because of this I walked into Teikoku with a bias. The decor of Teikoku seemed slightly dated and the floor plan seemed like it could have supported a larger bar. The hostess, bartender and server were friendly. I had dinner on a Monday evening with out of town guests. The hostess confided that there were only 26 people in the dining room. I thought that because of this my service would have been impeccable. On the contrary, I found that I received better service at Azie on a Saturday, during dinner/happy hour when the restaurant was packed. Overall, I'd say that I would return to Teikoku, but only if invited by someone.

Perhaps because of a late arrival (5-10 minutes), we were seated very near the front door, and also very close to the bar. The table was somewhat noisy as a result, with lots of traffic to distract from the meal. Service was good, if not exceptional- the staff knew the menu well and could answer any questions we raised. I found the menu attractive, the descriptions inviting, and all the food we ate interesting and well-presented. The portions seemed well-judged, and the table wine I ordered was very nice. While it wasn't exactly the ambience I had anticipated, it was an enjoyable time and I would certainly return again.

Teikoku is one of our family's favorite restaurants. We love the "zen type" atmosphere and the interesting menu. Our daughter LOVES the kobe beef on a hot rock because she gets took cook her meal. It's a very sophisticated atmosphere, yet warm and welcoming at the same time.

We have been there several times and overall we love the place. However, I have the feeling that the quality of the food and service is declining. Also, we have noticed that the size of some of our preferred plates is getting smaller, while the prizes are hedging up. The calamari salad, which I recommend strongly in particular is much smaller than in the past. Similarly, the night we were there, the cocktails had very little alcohol but lots of ice. I ordered a 5 oz kobe beef and I am quite certain, there was not 5 oz in the plate I got.

My wife and I love Teikoku! We are big sushi/sashimi fans and it is done right here. They have a wide assortment and typically have unusual seasonally available items (rock shrimp, needle fish...). We always enjoy ourselves and enjoy the above average service. They also offer interesting wine pairing and sake pairing experiences.

We have visited this restaurant on many occasions. The menu never changes and many choices are too spicy for most people. Service has deteriorated over time. Although this used to be a favorite of ours, we would no longer recommend this restaurant to others.
