A word from American Tap Room
This is American Regional Cuisine at its classic, pub-inspired best. The food is fun and what we like to call “approachable”. You’ll also enjoy some twists on the classics with taste-inspired ideas like our Dirty Caesar Salad and Greek Turkey Burger. At the American Tap Room we believe in using local ingredients as much as possible and, yes, everything we serve goes well with beer.

Ranging from weekend brunch, to a casual lunch outing or an after-work gathering in our bar, each dining experience is uniquely enjoyable.

Enjoy your time with us on our outdoor patio, inside by the fireplace, or by booking a private event.

My family was very disappointed in the food. We ordered the pretzels and that was the only good thing we ate. We also ordered the grilled Caesar salad and it was very greasy and had way too much dressing. My husband got the lobster Mac and cheese and gave it a 5. The crab cakes were very disappointing and had no flavor. I was glad to have the fries as my mom and I hardly touched our crab cakes. My dad got the blackened chicken sandwich and was also not good. I would recommend others eat elsewhere as the food was really subpar though the ambience was nice, there are much better choices in Reston Town Center. I will never eat there again.

This place seems to attract groups and has a VERY loud, crowded bar. We had a reservation for 7:30, arrived at 7:20 and were told they couldn't seat us until 7:30. We didnt' sit down until 7:50 because a large group tied up so many tables. The noise was uncomfortable. Loud music competes with the noise from the bar. It was difficult to hear the waitstaff and each other. The food was well prepared and tasty but came with no sides and no bread. It wasn't worth sitting through the noise and I won't be back.

This place is simply awesome! My wife and I had lunch at the Tap room and we highly recommend this place. We love the laid-back feel of this place - chic, cozy and a smooth atmosphere – like being in a snow mountain cabin restaurant. The chicken and waffles are my favorite. *****

This was our 1st time at this Restaurant and I had made a reservation for 7 pm. We got there at 6:55pm and we were seated within 5 mins. We had a nice booth near the fireplace. We were greeted within 5 mins of sitting and our waiter Sean was so nice. He did not rush us. He took our drink orders and then gave us sometime to look over the menu. I loved how the menu lit up when you opened it. My husband had the Maryland crab soup and I had the pretzel to start. Excellent! I ordered the Lobster mac and cheese and all I can say was YUMMY!!!!!! My husband had the Shrimp Creole and he said it was great. We did not get dessert.

Gone down hill since our last visit 7 years ago. Back lit menus weren't readable, nice "eye candy" at the hostess stand, but it didn't make up for poor service. No follow-up on meal or experience from wait staff. Quality of food was nothing to write home about or recommend either. Immediate attempt to upsale the menu from the waitress by offering fancy drinks to children to pad her check. Dissapointed in our dining experience, expecially since we have visited and dined at this restaurant in the past. Wont' be back. It is more of a "Bar/lounge" feel rather than restaurant feel. Example would be high back chairs, fire pits, sports games on over bar, viewable from retaurant area. It really is a TAP room and not a restaurant experience

Fried deviled eggs are a must order. Had the special ribeye with pomme frites and was a bit disappointed that they were all piled under the steak and accompanying veg and subsequently were soggy, not crisp. The steal of the night was a companion's order of chicken and waffles which was a huge serving and very tasty. Definitely worth a trip back.

We went to the ATR for a night out on New Year's Eve, we had reservations and they were honors almost immediatly. Our waitress was VERY pleasent and efficiant she did not rush us in anyway and considering it was New Year's Eve that was very pleasent for us. The food was very good, at least what I expected and we enjoyed the New Year's Eve Holiday special menu and look forward to returning at a future date to enjoy their regular dinner menu. Overall a GOOD experience and we look forward to returning again. Thanks. Art M.

Food was excellent! I had the pecan salmon, and my date had the lobster Mac and cheese. Both were outstanding! But, for a place that calls itself American Tap Room, I was severely disappointed in their beer selections. They had few taps, and a bottle selection. They sold imported beer (American Tap Room?), and most beer offered was pedestrian. I would recommend this place to foodies, but none of my beer friends.

If you have a small party, of four or less, then you can avail yourself of the outdoor dining area which has a wonderful ambience (with one caveat, there may be smokers). Indoor dining is more like a pub/sports bar atmosphere. The decor seems a bit tattered, but the food is very good and our service was spot on. I would eat again at their outdoor venue but I would not rush back to experience their indoor dining area.

Three in our party and in an unfamiliar part of town as we were picking up a birthday gift for my daughter. We were headed to P.F. Changs but were told it would be an 1.5hr wait, no way and so I looked at OpenTable, found Am. Tap Rm and much to my surprise was delighted in our choice. The service was warm and friendly like the warm fireplace and dark atmosphere. Plenty of TVs to catch the baseball game's score and the food was awesome. we ate pretzels (great sauces), fried pickles (ok), and mussels (awesome!) along with turkey burgers, lobster mash potatoes (the best) and mac and cheese (pretty good as well). In all a great dining experience in a comfortable pub atmosphere.
