    OpenTable Diner Since 2006

Thalassa has a small but quality wine selection. The sommelier was not sufficiently knowlegable. The prices for wine are 2 times too expensive, even for restaurant markup. The staff in general seemed relatively inexperienced. Fresh fish by the pound is a nice part of the menu.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 7/21/2008
We had variations of the restaurant week offerings. My friend had a poorly selected wine with his first dish, and the wines with the desserts were also off. I had a fish dish and proceeded cautiously with the first two bites - no bones, so I was ok - then the third bite felt like I had just put an urchin in my mouth. About four needle-thin bones pricked into all sides of my mouth. This really set off my mood - there was no indication on the menu or upon serving that the fish had bones. Also, the service was sub-par. Our waiter did not know how the wine pairings worked, and when the sommelier came out, it seemed as if he had just read the descriptions off a notecard. We were seated in a corner downstairs though it wasn't crowded...

We went to this modern Greek restaurant with a group of 8 friends. The atmosphere was modern, clean and elegant, the service was warm, smooth, and very polished -- and the food was superb! We were recommended an"appetizer chef tasting" which was perfect and even the side dishes were fresh and original. Don't miss the lemon-infused seared potatoes and the langoustines. This group of hard-core foodies was very impressed, we'll be back for sure.

Utterly fantastic! Everything - the decor, service, atmosphere, extensive wine list, and the food were all outstanding. The fresh fish selection was quite impressive. The lamb shank was arguably one of the best I've had - tender and expertly seasoned. The orzo with mussels, scallops and shrimp was delicious, and the fresh fish was sublime. Our server was attentive and extremely knowledgeable, his suggestions of cheeses and wine were perfect. We dined there for a friend's birthday and were even treated to a lovely dessert wine and poached pears for dessert, compliments of the house. We were delighted with the entire experience and will definitely be back. I would absolutely recommend Thalassa to anyone who enjoys upscale Greek food.

Other than being seated at a tiny table too small for the food when the restaurant was hardly full and we had a reservation made substantially ahead Thalassa was a great experience. The fish was excellent and extremely well prepared in a relatively simple manner. The sommelier was a great guide to a lengthy and impressive wine list full of Greek wines with which we were completely unfamiliar. When it turned out that our first choice was unavailable he guided us to a less expensive but excellent alternative.

It was the worst service I have ever experienced. Upon arrival, no one was at the bar, and when one appeared we ordered a manhattan straight up and a cosmopolitan while waiting for our third person; the bartender could not find the vermouth for the manhattan and was not sure what was in the cosmopolitan. Once we were seated at our table, it was another 10+ minutes before a waiter came over with the menus. We then ordered another round of drinks. After a good 20 minutes, he came back with a cosmopolitan (but not the manhattan), and instead of using vodka, it was made with whiskey. After another 10+ minutes, someone came over and we told them the problem, and the new drinks brought were also wrong - whiskey on the rocks and a cosmo with no vo

Surprisngly, the service was not at the level of the restaurant. Not only we had to wait long to make our order and for the dishes, but the waiter was somehow rude. For example, when they delivered the food, I asked the busbuy about a dish that I did not recognize. He said "broccoli". I said, please replace it as I asked for varied vegetables. The waiter came back with the plate and asked us "does this look like broccoli?", treating us like stupid. We were celebrating a birthday and the birthday person was very offended.
