Pleasant, the food was fine though it was hardly a good value for the money. Service varied and became so slow at the end of the meal (despite the fact that the place was much emptier than when I arrived) that I decided against desert. I would probably try someplace new rather than go back.

Asparagus meuniere salad with poached egg was very good with fresh greens, well poached egg, and very good dressing; goat cheese ravioli in porcini sauce tasted very little of goat cheese and not at all of porcini. Rather they seemed to be ravioli stuffed with mashed potatoes. Disappointing.

The service was slightly slow and the temperature was too cold. Otherwise, the food was very good and we had an enjoyable meal. For some reason, the Circle Bistro marked our reservation as cancelled even though they seated us on time. We were not happy about that but Open Table made good on our dining points, so all is well.

We had a wonder visit here. Enjoyed a drink at the bar before dinner, then moved into the dining room. I enjoyed the choices in the pre-theater dinner menu, my husband loved the fluke. Desserts and wines were excellent, and the service from ALL involved was top-notch.

We ate here pre-Opera at the Kennedy Center, starting 1.5hrs ahead of curtain. Our waitress said we would be fine for time. If we ordered dishes with long prep times, she did not inform us. The dinner ran long, and we nearly missed the show. Perhaps they were short-handed, but if it was the prep-time, we would have appreciated some guidance. The food was *excellent* as always - we'll be back.

I have eaten at all 3 properties in this restaurant group. Dish probably provides the best food for the price, followed by Circle Bistro and Notte Bianchi roughly tied. I liked the appetizer options at Circle Bistro, but the entrees were mostly meat and seafood and pretty pricey. The timing of our courses was a bit off, even though we alerted the restaurant that we had a 7pm show at the Kennedy Center. We barely made it! (My reservation was for 4 at 5:00pm.) More vegetarian options would be great at all three restaurants in this group. More wines by the glass @ Circle Bistro would be good, too. It felt like too few. I like the fact that they provide a reliable set of options close to the Kennedy Center, but they can still make improvements.

I don't know what has happened to Circle Bistro! It used to be really good, and a great place to go for a meal before performances at the Kennedy Center, but Brunch on 4/6/08 prior to the Opera was a disaster: we were given only 2 menus for 4 people; it was 15 minutes before we got service (not even filling our water glasses) when they were less than half full; only one waitress, who didn't know what she was doing and screwed up order for an omelet so it came out with no fillings, and there was hair in the omelet when the order was replaced; an overly anchovied Cesar salad; and a rude maitre d' who refused to check my parents' coats and instead directed them to the coat closet for them to hang their own coats. We will not be going back.

Circle Bistro has a terrific bar, and a great happy hour. Unfortunately, that is the highlight for the restaurant. Service is anemic, at several points during dinner we thought our waiter had forgotten about us. Food is overpriced and contains few vegetables or side dishes other than the meat or fish you order; we waited about 35 minutes for our meals. We do not plan to return.

Even though the food was great, getting to the bistro from the hotel lobby leaves a lot to be desired. The hotel is old and u have to use their 'aged' elevators and then walk thru a hallway that looks old and rundown. At the very least, they should spruce up the entire entry process to make this feel more like a nice meal out. Also of note: I ordered a Grey Goose dirty martini...what I got was straight vodka - lukewarm but poured into a chilled glass - with no olive brine...needless to say I sent it back. Since a cocktail or glass of wine is their first opportunity to set the tone of the meal, they obviously fell flat on their faces with me. The food is very good and I would recommend Circle Bistro to others but with some 'warning'.

As one of a small handful of restaurants within walking distance of the Kennedy Center (though barely), it fills an important niche. The pre-theatre prix fixe menu makes it extra attractive, though I wish there was an option to skip dessert and pay less, or have a lighter dessert option like cheese on the pre-theatre menu.

all food items ordered were perfect in presentation, flavor and compatibility; as a trained chef, i am always looking for great restaurants where everything comes together just so,and this kitchen staff really knows how to make a nice plate of food. i will most definitely recommend circle bistro to all i know and i will likely return. only one negative - unfortunately i am gluten sensitive and there were few dessert options for me; i chose a dish of ice cream and although it was fabulous (candied ginger), the quantity for the price was miniscule. my dining companions raved about their meals and i am sure they will return.

We were there early, pre-theater. Service was great, as was the food to most of us. One patron was not happy with his duck, but another liked the same dish. Very convenient. We used valet parking at the restaurant/hotel (it's in the Wash. Circle hotel), and that was very convenient, left the car there until after the Kennedy Center performance.

We have dined at Circle Bistro on many occasions, usually preceding a performance at the Kennedy Center. This is a neighborhood with few very good restaurants. Add to that their ability to serve a complete meal - not only off the pre-theater menu, but also off the regular menu - at a pace that meets the needs of those before a performance, and you have a winner. They judge the timing very well, without making one feel rushed. At the same time, the food is excellent and the wine list good.
